Buffalo Grove, IL Federal Signal 2001-SRN (DC) Growl/Silent Test

Headed to the park outside my house to catch this 2001 doing it's weekly growl test for the first time. Never did a growl test before, so this was fun, especially since I could get the tones as my new scanner can pick up the activation frequency NWCD and Fulton use to activate the sirens in the towns they control or maintain, including Buffalo Grove. I am not giving out the frequency as it's not available publicly, so don't even bother asking me about it unless you're my close friend. They went a few seconds after 8:10 and I was hearing what I think were polling tones from my scanner at 8:10 on the dot, just before the activation tones went through. I think those tones are polling tones as they were longer than the regular encryption tones that are sent out every 48 seconds automatically, and were being sent more frequently like in any siren system polling. All sirens in Buffalo Grove are equipped with Fulton radios. Also a bit of a fun fact, the reason they send out cancel tones after the growl test is finished, is because one day, an ASC RM-130 malfunctioned in Rolling Meadows, IL during a routine growl test, and iirc, Fulton didn't know about it until it was too late and I think the siren ended up doing full alert as a result. Anyway, enjoy!

Fr I had to REALLY turn up my scanner bc they were almost drowning out my tones lol. In fact the FSK was barely distinguishable from the cicadas 😂 luckily the system encryption tone sends every 48 seconds automatically so I could adjust the volume before the test
