- After a 15 month sabbatical from two wheeled heaven, a new bike (new to me) has arrived.
A first look with irreverent chat 😂
Fantastic service from Sycamore Motored of Peterborough who offered an irresistible deal.

Great to see you have a new bike and look forward to seeing videos of you out on the bike
Very pleased you think so Lyn, best make another vid 😂
Seeing this video of you back on a bike, with that fabulous humour taking the micky out of yourself has made my day. Looking forward to videos in beautiful Devon on the bike.
Well that’s the plan, thanks so much for your kind words and hope you the vids that are on the way 😊 Cheers 🥂
This a very fortunate event. I used to follow your channel about bikes. Always amused by your distinctive style of approach to the bike subject and photography. It’s wonderful to count again with your thoughts and impressions about these magnificent machines. That R Nine T is such a sexy good looking bike!
Cheers 🥂
Thanks loads 👍
Good to see Farmer "back" with a bike video... Looking forward to more wheel action this year!
Thanks James, Some things are written 😂
Looks like a lot of fun!!
Thanks Jim, Yes, that’s what I was thinking 😂😂😂
What a beauty, I sold my gs and replaced it with a 2023 R9T Classic, never regretted it.
I can get where your coming from Steve - sounds like you having a ball 👍
@@FarmerTorque it’s been expensive as I’ve replaced parts with option 719 parts, it looks amazing
No doubt ‘Man maths’ solved that one 😂😂😂
Oooh .. I’m looking at doing the exact same thing , something I can use everyday .
Hello Farmer. We talked about these a few years ago. :-) Like you, I've had more GSs than hot dinners. I had a 1250 exclusive at the same time as you. Came to the realisation that BMW had overdeveloped it. It was too 'good'........too powerful......and had lost its soul (particularly with the TFT dash etc). Cruise control and plush (or ESA) suspension are the only 'tech' I want on a motorcycle. In the middle of the pandemic, I sold my 2019 1250 GS for a rethink. Bought a stopgap 2008 Mk2 1200 GS just in case I took any spontaneous trips - and I still have it. It's a great bike! But no cruise control :-( Currently looking for a 2017 (specifically) 1200 GS or GSA with old school clocks / no TFT. I have a bunch of accessories / luggage etc for these and I think the 2017 is the sweet spot - before they went a bit too far from home! Don't get me started on the 1300! Probably a great bike in its own way, but part of the fun / character of a GS is being able to open it up and take it to its limits. The 1250 was clinical smooth and licence-losing if you opened it up. The 1300 will be on another level again. I have always liked the RNineT. I would go for an 'Urban GS' version, but they need upgraded / lifted suspension for sure. They are just too small. Why they didn't copy the old school air/oil cooled GS height / ride is beyond me, as that would have been perfection. I heard there had been an update, so I will give one another look. Hope you have fun with it. I too would happily take one of those on a long tour. Plenty of cool flyscreens etc for those. Lovely old school GS boxer engine. :-)
Fabulous words, feedback and thoughts 😊
I agree fully with all - thought I was the only one 😂😂😂
Anyone who wants more performance that this on the public roads either has a cog missing or needs to learn how to ride 🤣
I don’t have a problem with the 1300 - not what the world needs, but will probably be a sales success so hey Ho 👍
Very happy to catch this scrambler at a great price.
Fingers crossed
Inevitably there will be more vids 😂
Great to see another R9T. I've had my standard roadster version 2 years now and I simply love it, it gets under your skin more than any other bike I've owned. You're right about the tech, while hidden away versus a GS, it's all still there. Cornering headlights, lean angle ABS etc etc and more than enough power. I switched the rear shock for a Wilbers and added a tail tidy to to finish off the rear and super happy with it. It does throw a lot of muck up your back in the wet though, that's my only negative. I've toured loads on it too with camping kit - just squash everything into a duffle bag and good to go, just lean into the wind and feels like you're flying. Great bike
Cracking comment Marcus 👍 agree with all you’ve said - excited and exciting- will try and make some good memories with this one 😊 Cheers 🍻
Neighbour has one. Smile on the face every time I ride it.
Ha ha, Brilliant - thanks for saying 😊
Welcome back to two wheels Farmer T. I’ve had one of those as a loan bike, loved the raw torque and exhaust note. Just bought the baby 310 gs for my pottering about on, suits my ageing body!
Much more sensible than I 👍😂 well done
Nice to see Hannah and Hugo together in that pic -
Lovely bike too.
Aww, thank you - I dare say they’ll be another vid very soon, Cheers 🍻
'Get your motor running, take it on the Highway' (Easy Rider - Steppenwolf, a long time ago) - Treat yourself, Chris - Why not? Enjoy!
Know the song well 👍 and very apt, thank you a few more vids on this one 🙏
@@FarmerTorque The last time that I rode a Scrambler was on the farm, over fifty years ago!
Truth be told, this isn’t a scrambler, as I’ll explain
@@FarmerTorque The nearest Ive got to owning a BMW was the BMW engine in my 308 - Thankfully it saved both our lives on Skye Bridge in 2018 - Intigued by the next instalment.
Okay I’m jealous now
Now now James, we’ll have none of that, I’d just be super happy if you’d join the fun 🙏🙏🙏
My favourite bike! Absolutely stunning. One day... 😁
Thank you for watching 🙏 on the road vids next so watch this space 😂 Cheers 🍻
It's good to see another bike video from yourself after so long, I was subbed to you on my old channel so now I've subbed from this new one. It was after your review and purchase of the KTM that I bought one myself and still have it as my go to for winter riding and less than perfect roads. I've since bought a Rocket 3 GT Triple Black which although lots of fun couldn't be my only bike. As a blast from the past I also bought a Triumph 900 Thunderbird Sport, the last of the Hinckley built Bonneville style bikes.
Lots of thank yous 👍
First ride vid on the BM tomorrow 😜
Nice to see you back on a bike Farmer - it’s been a while! Not that I’m biased, but I love a R9T. If it’s a keeper, get the rear shock changed to a Wilbers from Pier City, it makes such a difference to the bike.
Thanks for the kind words Glenn - interesting on the shock - better ride ???
How is it after having it out a bit? It’s a stunner!
I know just what you mean about riding with zero destination in mind. My husband and I each had our own bikes and we’d go for two week long trips, riding ten hours per day, not knowing where we’d end up at the end of each day. Nothing beats that feeling !!
Hope you really enjoy this one!
I hope I enjoy it too - early days but there are several things I’d like too improve but have an open mind - hopefully do a vid ‘out on the bike’ this week so thoughts will come then 👍
Gorgeous machine 👍👍👍
I think so too!🤗
Very nice Chris!!
From a ‘Car guy’ very happily received Lee 😂👍
Glad you went with the Scrambler, then thousands of GSs out there ..
I was gutted when someone stole my R9T/5 a year or so go . I found the seat to peg to be cramped and I added the tachometer.
Hi Jerry, thank you, I’ve always fancied one of these, the stars aligned and bingo 🙏 yay 😂
Done 200 miles - not disappointed- more vids soon 😊 Hope your ok 👍
@@FarmerTorque I'm doing fine, trying to lineup another ride for Bonneville Speed Week. I should be almost 100 percent by then . I don't want my last ride out there to be a crash.
I get that Jerry, go 4 it 👍
You belong on a bike my friend! Fantastic video so far!
Deeply worrying James 😂😂😂 such kind feedback, very much appreciated 👍
First ride vid out tomorrow James 👍
I wonder what the intended purpose is of that abbreviated front fender. Clearly it does nothing to keep mud and stones of this scrambler with off-road pretensions from flying back onto the engine and its components.
Finally got to record a ride vid in foul weather and can confirm the front mudguards do nothing 😂
Vid should be live tomorrow
simply enjoy it
Very good advice Gary - thanks loads 👍
I will be very interested to hear how you get on with the underlying character of this engine in the lighter R 9T frame (lighter than the GS ) .. I loved the older R80 for its polite manners .. The air and oil cooled 1170 has a few secrets for tickeling one to push on in a very different way than say your Triumph 1200 .. I have a 900 STreet Scrambler that has some great get up and go but is a quieter gentlman and I like the TRiumph 1200 for many of the same reasons ... I know you will have a blast with this great bike just try not to listen to it whispering "get on it " :) PS there is a black and red one 12 miles from me that I am working hard to forget is also a great mid winter price .. :)
An interesting and amusing tale and yes I’m fascinated to see how this one develops - in the meantime I’m afraid the ‘get on it’ genie is already out of the bottle 😳😂🤣
Please tell me you've still got the Triumph 1200XE ?
Hate to disappoint but for several reasons sold 18 moths ago - but, first. Ride vid of the BM out tomorrow
What key differences do you notice between this and the 1200XE?
Ooh lots 😊 I’ll do a specific video comparison soon - in the meantime, I just love the air cooled boxer engine 👍 spoiler alert, the triumph was good 👍
Congrats on the bike! it's a beauty! I considered getting it myself as well just for the smoothness of the engine alone.@@FarmerTorque
I definitely looking forward for your experience with the 2 bikes to compare them ..
2up riding …?
As you have and had both, whats your thoughts XE vs R9T scrambler
Thank you for watching - life has thrown a few curved balls recently, but my first ‘Ride’ vid should go live tomorrow afternoon
I will do a comparison next 👍
Man maths 😂
Usually works, doesn’t it 😂 thank very much for watching 🙏🙏🙏
I'm always using man maths
Nowt wrong with that 😂😂😂 Cheers 🥂
Your gunna need that comfort seat Chief, and I suggest better suspension! So another £1.5k and it would be grand.
Sold mine before major spinal damage!
Ha ha, welcome to my epic ‘First World’ problem ! There are two ‘ride’ vids now up which give a good idea of the situation 😳
You may be light on the cost of the suspension tho 😩
