    Made up a dozen of your open feeders this summer. I like them alot. I was open feeding with larger totes and messing around with covering and uncovering for weather...Good solution to that problem.

    God bless you from Australia. You are the guardian of your hives. Didn't know it was so hard to keep them alive and healthy and fed where you live. I got an empty box and thinking of getting into this. You are awesome and I take my hat off to you mate. Keep showing all of us the way :-) thank you. Well done.

    Would putting the top feed hole to the side of the hive, or in the corner help avoid the dripping on the cluster issue?
    You could put the screens on the side of the bucket lid in future replacement buckets, and add a hole to the top cover away from the center.
    Would there be any benefits to that, or will the cluster be large enough to still get a syrup shower?
    It seems like it at least would protect the queen and brood, and just get the outer layer of bees.

    Ian, I wonder if you were to have a preset pattern hole stamper which will stamp holes the size of boardman feeders into yout plastic tops, would this stop the dripping problem? The holes are very fine and do not drip on the boardman feeder. Perhaps the same can be accomplished on the bucket feeders? I believe with a little thought and ingenuity, this can be accomplished? Thanks, Phillip Hall

With a 1 7/8 inch hole the plug doesn't fit at all. Left a pale full of water upside down for a couple hours as an experiment, and about half the water drained out. Are you really not having that problem?

      Flatwoods Bee Farm
      Perhaps. But they are more costly

    • @RoughAndWretchedRAW
      @RoughAndWretchedRAW 5 лет назад

      I know I never would. It's not that the Cerecell feeders are bad. They are excellent. But Id never use a top feeder like that except in very specific cases. The pail feeder is quick and you don't have to be overly concerned with spillage. For some mating nucs or something it's fine but if I had to deal with the kind of volume of hives Ian deals with it would have to be pails. It's just the constant need to be careful so you don't spill it out all over. A good example is right at the end when he was weighing the hives in the snow. Consider the ease with checking the pails and removing them as compared to a Ceracell. Cerecells are excellent feeders. Probably the best dry and wet top feeder design I've seen commercially available. However, When the hive numbers get up that high or when time is extremely limited the time to deal with them would add hours to the jobs I think.

      Пчёлам по сути без разницы на чём зимовать, более того с сиропом всегда гарантированный и стабильный результат, в отличии от мёда.

      @@user-wj6ph3ot8f где там? какая зимовка на пади? у тебя падь в Августе-Сентябре? это не подготовка к зимовке это переработка сахара.

      @@user-fy2uy1yr7r это чушь. зимовка с прикормом сиропом более спокойна и гарантирована тем, что матка подсевает достаточное количество зимующей пчелы. А НЕ ТЕМ ЧТО САХАР ЛУЧШИЙ КОРМ.
