    A low cost basic commercial method of processing beeswax into customer orders. The wax has been rendered through the same melter during the production season to remove the slum. This is the second time the wax has been sent through to further remove honey from that roughly rendered product.

    I use an old electric fry pan , cheese cloth (muslin cloth) and buckets with 1kg butter containers as molds... that's low tech ahahaha

    I really enjoy rendering beeswax. I just find it so satisfying. But then, I'm just doing 10-20 pound unfiltered slabs.

    It would be interesting to know how your neighbor presses out the wax. All the resources on RUclips show really small scale and time consuming processes.

    In the States we use electric heat tape to keep water lines from freezing. Maybe you could wrap the valve and it will keep the pipes from getting too Cold to let the valve and wax to flow. It may keep you from fire up the torch every time you drain the wax. Thanks

    • @jomase6154
      @jomase6154 4 года назад

      they press what wax is still left in the slum, and they do old broken frames. as far as the slum itself, it can make for good burning fuel in the winter times. it's basically garbage.

    What's "slum"?

    • @droolingfangirl
      @droolingfangirl 5 лет назад +2

      There's a wikipedia article, "Slumgum in beekeeping is the residue of the beeswax rendering process. When the beeswax from brood comb is rendered to produce clean wax, it leaves behind the pupal lining, wax moth cocoons, excrement from larvae, and other residual debris included in the original material. "

      Seamstresses use it to toughen their thread. Archers use it on bow strings. There are hundreds of uses. There are some very high tech items that can't be made without bees wax. It's very special stuff.
