      @@dhirajkh5444yeah. The Defense of Madrid was almost perfect. Only that one mistake, they could've easily done the job in 90 minutes if it wasn't for that mistake by Rüdiger. But everyone makes mistakes sometimes, besides that, Rüdiger was insanely good in the entire game

      Yes, unlucky to have KDB, FODEN who missed the sitters, Silva who looked like an idiot in penalties and on the other hand LORD LUCAS VAZQUEZ who was juggling the ball before this intense penalty ....Madrid were lucky for not having NO 9, CBs for almost a season, CDM, 1st GK...Please add if we missed anything...

      No. I believe City was VERY lucky to draw the fist leg 3-3 with xG of less than 1. They were veeery lucky first leg, and second leg they just weren't. Looking at both legs, I think it's clear that Real were the better team.

      @@amerhodzic6036 yeah. People think Madrid wasn't the better team because they don't know or don't understand that Defending is part of the game.
      Yeah, City were lucky that they didn't lose the first leg. Because the Bangers they scored aren't going into the goal every day you try such goals. Considering both legs, I agree with you, Madrid was the better team

      @@DeependraRasal I think such an attempt (shooting the pen in the middle) by Bernardo is a useful, but only if you score. If the GK stays in the middle, knowing that you want to shoot in the middle, the one shooting the pen looks like an idiot tbh. Also, I think Lunin played an incredible match

    Madrid actually dominated City, which is even funnier. No main GK, two main CB with ACL injury, no defensive midfielder and no starting striker yet guys over 30 like Carvajal, Nacho and Rüdiger were the ones keeping Grealish, Foden, Silva and Haaland silent for almost the entire game. City generated an embarassing 2.7 xG in 33 shots over 120 minutes. RM forced City wide all game and City despite passing the ball a thousand times, did not know how to penetrate into the box. Doku was the only one who truly made the difference and created clear cut chances that were not solely influenced by mistakes from defenders. Even Henry said that City barely had clear cut chances. They were mostly generated from small mistakes by Madrid. I remember Man City parking the bus against Atleti after being up a goal and no one complained. Man City scored the same amount of goals as Real Madrid over both legs. Madrid put up a 90s Italian defensive masterclass. They won the pen shootout because of Rüdiger, Kepa and Lunin, they won on a tactical level. Madrid dominated both legs by scoring early and taking the lead or scoring quick after Man City scored. Man City never led in the tie for more than 10 minutes, over 2 matches. They were constantly chasing the score whilst Madrid when scoring were able to defend their lead for way longer. Madrid were actually better offensively for scoring goals with less chances and defensively for not allowing to be scored against despite City's posession. Having the ball most of the time and playing like clowns with 33 shots resulting in 1 goal sounds worse than old school Italian defending. The only one I truly respect, is suprisingly Doku. He wasn't tapdancing then passing the ball back unlike Grealish but actually risked losing the ball by creating bigger chances.

All he knows is increase numbers in the midfield by pushing a defender in there, create the triangles so that players will always have options to pass, use the wingers to get the ball into the box or the middle if the wings are covered, always use the down.... Tell me how often City players cross the ball to find the head of Haland if not set-pieces.
      Ancelotti has shown by these 3 games you referred to as well as others that he can use different tactics - left overload, long balls, short passes, low crosses, high crosses, low-block etc... did you even notice that Madrid attacks in a 4-3-3 formation and defends in a 4-4-2 flat formation?
      Pep's philosophy of defending is to hold the ball more coz the more you hold the ball the less your opponent gets to punish you, hence, Pep is as defensive as any other manager jist that he does his in disguise.

      Good point. They can outspend everyone and buy all of the best players in the world. But when tough matches come along, it takes a lot more sacrifice over talent to come through with the victory. Most player's don't dream of growing up wanting to play for Manchester City, unless they are academy players or from Manchester, they pay a lot more sure, but the players aren't intrinsically driven to give their life on the pitch as someone that puts on a Real Madrid shirt. It's beautiful to see these players go out there like soldiers, willing to die for their team mates. I think Xabi Alonso is creating a similar tight-knit group of players with his Leverkusen, adding all the tactics he has learned along his professional career.

    Real Madrid and the champions league are made for each other and this is just football heritage man. Anybody who writes them off in this competition is making a mistake because of their pedigree aura confidence and their resilience in difficult circumstances in big games. After a disciplined defensive performance against Manchester City where they ended their Etihad hoodoo, in the last 14 seasons they’ve been to the champions league semifinals 12 times and have won it 5 times since the 2013-14 season and they’ve achieved a feat that no team has ever done before which is win back to back to back champions league titles. Even a team as strong as Manchester City wouldn’t win the champions league in back to back seasons.
    To be honest, did you really think that Real Madrid are going to get knocked out of the champions league by the same team 2 seasons in a row. That’s never happened to them as in this competition they’re just inevitable and that’s why they’re difficult to go up against and can’t be written off. Their mentality is on another level and they know that they don’t need to be the best team because even though we’ve seen other teams that are better than them, you know that they’ll win it. They have a mentality about them that other teams simply don’t have and cannot replicate in Europe. They’ve gotten tired of winning the champions league every year and they let every team outplay them and they always get away with it. Being coached so well and having a system where the players know their role is important in a team and these players have it. Real Madrid winning the champions league as I said before at this point it’s football heritage and they’re the most successful club in football history and UCL title number 15 here we come. Benzema would be proud of that. 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Just kidding.

    The FC teams overglorify a one man striker games. That is why most of them lost ECL because too many of their top strikers often forget its a team game first and mostly do so in the big games. They want the individual goal credit too bad.

    Before Man City got Haaland, they played with a false nine. They were great but could have been better. When they got Haaland, it looked liked they had gotten the final piece of the jigsaw. They went on to win everything. This year not so much

    "Best team" What does that even mean? A team obsessed with possession is somehow automatically good just because they can side pass the ball for 90 minutes without creating anything? Real Madrid deserved to win more simply on the fact that they actually had a plan for the game. City passing around for 90 minutes is no plan, or at least whatever plan they had: it failed miserably. Which again just goes to show how the ACTUAL better team won.

    • @grettfc

    Honestly amazing how people can have so much to say about a match that was all about the fine margins. Scoring against City has been really easy this season, they can't keep a clean sheet if their life depended on it, even against the worst teams in the league. What keeps them going is the fact they can outscore anyone. Wednesday they couldn't, simple as that. If that shot from Rodrygo didn't bounce straight back into his feet for a rebound or if KDB blasted that one clear chance in, this video wouldn't exist.
    We saw the two best teams in the world battling in two completly opposite matches and after 210 minutes, nothing set them apart, the one with the most luck wins, simple as that. Taking nothing away from RM, they played well and did what was needed to win, respect. But don't be analysing how they outplayed City. Small margins.

    This is a really good assessment especially regarding overrated spoiled unadjusting stubborn no plan B Pep. The grossest tactician ever to coach. Epitome of how the sport is slowly being ruined by coaches wanting to control everything…always.
    Even his prodigy on the other side (Arteta) had no plan B for Bayern. Stop sensationalism of these two. Pep should go to Napoli. Or Villareal ala Pellegrini, Mourinho, and others who have embraced mediocrity and made it amazing.

    @grett, when you claim that MCI is the best team in the world, you're clearly highlighting its aggressive play style. However, what we witnessed, though not aesthetically pleasing, was a defensive masterpiece in football. In this aspect, Real Madrid outshone MCI's current vulnerable defensive system. otherwise one could argue that could be a 1x0 second leg to MCI if their defense was more robust.

    Think Real Madrid fans are sniffing glue. City absolutely battered Real. 18 corners to 1. Madrid turned up with their galacticos and played like Sheffield Utd and parked the bus. Real were very lucky KDB & Foden must be kicking themselves blazing over on chances. Real got lucky and if any of the deluded faithful were honest with themselves they’d admit it.

    It was just one of those days for Manchester City where it just wasn’t falling for them in attack. With all the chances they created and shots that they had they were shut down thanks to a stubborn Real Madrid defense that barely put a foot wrong even if it looked as if they were about to concede a lot of goals. It was unlucky for Manchester City but a defensive masterclass from Real Madrid and overall the better team went through.
    You don’t want to see Real Madrid defending for 120 minutes as you’re not used to seeing that with them, but the reality is that in their DNA this is what they do, they do whatever it takes to win and this mentality is just something else. They were defending for their lives and this is an important trait in winning football as from clearances tackles fullbacks shutting down wingers etc, this was a frustrating game for Manchester City from an attacking perspective. You’re hearing Rodri after the game saying that there was only one team attacking and he’s not wrong to be honest, but one team went through and it was the better team on the day and ok Real Madrid got lucky a bit, but you have to praise them for going to a stadium where they never won at and after getting outplayed and had some sloppy moments they kept their composure and went through in the end on penalties. Manchester City are an elite team and had they not faced Madrid in the quarterfinals they’re probably gonna get to the final again and while their performance was good, that alone isn’t enough when you’re playing against Real Madrid the kings of Europe.

    • @grettfc
      @grettfc  Месяц назад

      Yeah you said it perfectly. City was clearly the better side but unfortunately, they conceded a poor goal early on and had to adapt to madrids defensive minded game and Madrid always seems to find a way to win in these big matches.

      Truth is I think this match unfolded just as Carlo wanted he wanted it to go to pens because he knew if it went to pens we would win and that's exactly what happened 😂 not for nothing you can tell that's the outcome the Real Madrid players wanted by the end of the match you can see all of the Man City players starting to look frustrated and angry and all of the RM players smiling calm cool and collected like they knew they had the game on lock and I think Man City knew it was over for them

    • @Orca472

      Honestly Manchester city are poor at finishing. They shoot the ball so much they overwhelm the defenders and keepers so much that at least one shot will go through, but in all honesty their conversion rate is quite low.

    • @AJftwlol
      @AJftwlol Месяц назад +3

      @@Model_Roe I thought so too, it became apparent in the second half. There was a point where Valverde could have started a counter attack, but oddly he chose to back pass it and remain defensive. He knew the risk of the counter failing and giving city a break was much more likely than them scoring .That is a sort of discipline and patience you rarely see in football. If Madrid was actually desperate to score that goal, they would've gone for it, but they were playing the long game. An Ancelotti masterclass.

      They had messi... that alone, is already a problem on its own. So pep could always just let the players play around him. Especially since during that time, messi was already problematic to deal with. He also had one of the best defenders ever (puyol) arguably barcelona's greatest midfield 3 to date, and fabregas and Pedro. Like the team was already stacked. Then with Barcelona, money atleast at the time was no obvious issue.
