I just had a stent put in and will get three more after Christmas. I had a heart attack and almost died. I feel great now. This is an alternative to open heart surgery. Talk to your Doctor before you decide.

I just had 12 stentz inserted in my heart and at the age of 62 i feel like an 18 year old kid!!! Amazing work and my life has changed greatly. At the same time taking care of my self eating healthy and i already lost 20 pounds. My admiration to my doctor performing this surgery!!! He saved my life!!!
I'm 38 and going for an Angiogram in a couple of weeks. Don't know yet whether I'll get a stent or not, but it is encouraging to hear about your experience.
I had two stents fitted in my heart, One in my left artery and one in my right artery, The difference is amazing, I cycle seven miles everyday on my mountain bike up the hills and go running on the tread mill three times a week, My arteries had narrowing due to plaque build up but having the stents fitted as transformed my life, I have changed my diet to a healthy one and had the one hour procedure in hospital while i was awake, I must stress i did not have a heart attack but was getting discomfort in my arms and across my chest if i did anything physical, Kind of a dull pain which went away when i rested, The Cardiologists saved and transformed my life, I cannot thank them enough and i am very very grateful.
I got two yesterday 2/26/20. I had bypass surgery on 5 arteries in 1993. I’ve had chest pain for months so my doctor decided to order a cardiac Cath. They found 2 arteries 95% blocked. You are sedated but awake during the 90 minute procedure. There was a fair amount of discomfort but not pain. Just knowing what was going on was weird. I had the Cath inserted through the wrist artery. All pain is gone . I feel great.
Good luck and fast recovery, I had two stents fitted in January and feel fantastic now, I exercise regular and eat healthy, The surgeon also went through my wrist, I wish you well.
Old video? I had stent placed using artery in my arm. Recovery done in LaGrange, Illinois after heart attack on a plane (5hrs) then at hospital had to wait 24 hrs since I can not tolerate Iodine. Thanks to cardiologists at Adventist Lagrange Trauma Center & Firefighters who saved my life since SW Airlines could care less.
my dad which is 62 had a heath attack before chrismas and has just had 4 stents placed and now he has gone again to get some stents on the other artery because he has 80% blockage. Is it dangerous to have that many stents ? I am so worried about him
how is your dad doing now? My husband who just turned 63 got a stent in his left circumflex artery last week. His symptom was shortness of breath when running, he didn't have a heart attack they stented him before the heart attack could happen. I'm concerned for the future of his health. He has never smoked and is about 15 lbs overweight. I told him to stop eating eggs and we are switching to oatmeal for breakfast and less meat (hopefully). I hope he can stick to a better diet.
Mark you will be fine so try not to worry, i try and stay active and mainly eat chicken and fish, I always have oats in the morning, nuts, advacados and i cut all the junk food out, My cholestrol was 6.1 and for the last 4 years it as been around 2 to 2.5, Let me know how you get on mark.
I am feeling chest heaviness after one stent in left artery from 3 months now. Initially it was once in 3 weeks. Now heaviness daily in early morning which persists through out the day. And again increased in next early morning.
@@caanosadax9561 is recovery possible sir ? Shall angiography show this or any other blockage ? Or do angiography shows other defects too ? Because i am afraid that any other blockage was missed during angiography.
Very good explanation. I also had a stent placed last year. My stent was placed in a section with branch and some blood flows across the stent wall (not from one end to another) to the branch. I wonder if it is a normal practice to do this way because if the junction is clogged (the stent wall is "sealed:"), there seems nothing that can be done in future (you can't cut a hole on the stent).
No, they are expanded to fit snugly into the artery and some tissue grows over them so they become part of the artery. Modern ones are "drug-eluting" meaning they are coated with something to prevent plaque forming over them.
About how long is the recovery period and process in a patient under 60 years of age. I realize that every situation and patient is different just inquiring a (guestamation if u will). Is there any pain involved? I hear this is outpatient procedure now that one goes home the same day?
@@bobminderhoud8951 Because many of them are done on patients not having life threatening symptoms - and a certain amount statistically will die from the procedure itself. Additionally, it can re-occlude even with the newer stents.
Dear daughter and sons, please take consensus of your old parent who need angioplasty. If they are not ready don't go for it. Allow them to die in house peacefully in place of dying alone in hospital in operation theatre . I am feeling guilty for my mother.
I'm going in tomorrow morning for procedure.my symptom was getting light headed so my dr. Put me on nuclear treadmill test and that showed some narrowing of a artery. So getting it done before the big one gets me...😂

Go to hospital it means your artery is blocked by the stent. Immune system causes scarring on stent area.

if the coronary arteries are cleaned out then why the stent
is stunt work
My mother also done this but she is no more now after the stent surgery sucessfully completed😓
How do stents stay in place forever? Can they contract and just get into the blood stream?
No, they are expanded to fit snugly into the artery and some tissue grows over them so they become part of the artery. Modern ones are "drug-eluting" meaning they are coated with something to prevent plaque forming over them.

Didn't the saw that a vein was broken?
If you have 5 stents in your artery Can 1 or 2 stents be remove
No, they become an integral part of the artery wall. If the stents themselves become blocked, I think another stent can be inserted inside.
Stents are very profitable to cardiologists and hospitals. The are risky and of no value to the patient unless they are in cardiac arrest.
Why is that?
@@bobminderhoud8951 Because many of them are done on patients not having life threatening symptoms - and a certain amount statistically will die from the procedure itself. Additionally, it can re-occlude even with the newer stents.
Because stents damages the intima of the artery.... Which itself causes blockade after some time
It must be a preventative procedure, right? Why wait for "the big one"?

Sorry to hear that. There is a risk of about 1 in every thousand which is probably what happened. Some arteries are very fragile.
