They were separated by circumstances. He tirelessly searched for them, and regrets his failure. That makes Arirang Alone ever the more poignant.
I do not know if anyone else could do that song justice other than SoHyang. She treats the song and her people with the respect due them. I also love the part where she encourages the audience to sing with her. It is kind of her to think we could sing with her when the truth lets us know we shouldn't open our mouths at the same time.
