My dad bought a 1965 Olds 442 brand new. He actually put an order in for a '65 Chevelle (SS 396) at the local Chevy dealer and the car got sold out from underneath him, so he ended up buying the 442. He said he raced the guy that bought the Chevelle and blew his doors off!! He bought the stripped down version with bench seat and no radio - he said he wanted to shed weight because he knew he planned to race it. He told me about using slicks too. I recall seeing pictures of his car - it was blue like the one you showed. Very cool show, Bob!
The copper 72 cutlass supreme is my sons car. He has rebuilt it three times. Very tuff car. I have had over 17 oldsmobiles and still have my fathers '76 98. Not a one ever left me stranned. Ron
Super cool cars!! Thanks so much for sharing. 1964 Full Size Oldsmobile’s are my thing. Although currently only own a 1956 Super 88. Love love all the oddball stuff…And the oddball owners 😎👍❤️
The 66 Toros were the first FWD American-made cars since 1937. And, the engine was mounted north-south. This was enabled on a FWD car by positioning the transmission to the driver's side of the block, and then attaching the transmission to the engine by a large chain, versus a gear system. The chain proved remarkably well-made! The transmission then fed to a front differential, spinning those giant axles. The early Toros were 425 equipped and with drum brakes. Front disc brakes became optional in 67 and standard by 70. The 425 gave way to the 455 as standard by 68, I believe.
Hey Robert, really great job. I bought a 71 Supreme convertible and have been looking for info on the various years and this was the best I've seen showing almost all the models. Watched the whole hour! Wish they had the 76, 77 442 models, those were gorgeous too.
I have a collection of late 50's Oldsmobiles and also a 1964 Starfire convertible. And in 1981 I bought an oddball 442 that was ordered new by a bank president and is the only 1967 Oldsmobile 442 I have ever seen that was a 2 door sedan not a hardtop with a split-bench seat and column shifter and a 12 bolt posi-rear end. P.S. I was at this show with my 1957 Fiesta wagon the black and white one next to my brother's gold 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 convertible.
Owned a 1970 F85 red with gold interior that had a 3 on the tree with a six banger Bought it for the deck lid and sold it to my brother for a winter beater.
Yes that's right I was thinking about the 67 and 68 Models. All through the 70's and 80's all the car makers were switching to plastic for almost every thing to lower cost and reduce weight.@@davedibona5028
Love the video, love the cars only dislike is you interrupt the people a lot and they don’t get to finish their stories about their cars, But I get it lol you are super excited lol
What is the W code for the vertical stripe on the fender of ‘68 4-4-2’s? Thought it was W-32 but, then, was told W-32 is the air induction system that was usually found on W-30’s and W-31’s but,not necessarily STRICTLY on W models. So,figured the vert stripe was W-34,maybe. Or,is that reserved for the Cutlass SX?
@@CobblerBob Well, optional,it was. If the Oldsmobile division states W-36 as the official designation for the stripe package, the conclusion is obvious. Thank you,by the way. God,those ‘68-‘72 A-bodies were beautiful works of art, built with quality!
There were 4 doors present, but as I stated in the beginning, this was not an exhaustive coverage, I just highlighted some of the cars that piqued my interest, and I generally am not a 4 door fan, sorry. I've done that in the past where I tried to photograph or video everything, and was not "present" and I wind up feeling like I missed the event. I didn't want to do that.
If it’s an Olds club or show it’s shouldn’t matter how many doors it has. It’s an Olds and someone’s pride and joy. But I understand you can’t show them all.
Sorry y'all talking about the bigger cam inthe 4 , speeds ,i so sick of it frig that nonsense the bottom line is i had Several 4 speeds 70 w-30,s and the automatic,s beat the 4 speads Every time,,!!! Nice Show. I enjoyed it very much.
I've had some Olds and loved them
I worked at an Oldsmobile dealership in the mid 70’s. For me the late sixties until 1977 was the heyday of Oldsmobile’s.
Awesome video of some amazing cars ❤

What a great oldsmobile show lots of beautiful cars

Very cool cars. they also seemed to have a lot of the high performance parts in the engines too.

The Red W30 fender wells were also fiberglass instead of metal to help lighten up the front end.
Plastic Raymond. I took mine off my 70 W-30 during an engine compartment clean up. 100% plastic. Just an FYI.
Although I'm not familiar with the fenderwell construction on other years, the black fenderwells on my 1971 are plastic too.

Try to show some love to the 76 and 77.😊
I have a 76 Cutlass Salon and I was hoping to see some Colonnade style.
I had a 76" Cutlass Supreme Brougham
Thanks for the coverage! AKA JSPajak on the forums from way back.
Yes, I recognize your name! You're welcome!

Any 1970s olds 98s
I prefer the Olds with the Rocket on & under the hood ❤
I bought a 1969 oldsmobile cutlass Supreme with the rocket 350 .it's nice but the entire interior is shot. I did get it running
Wondering if there is a 68 or 69 olds cutlass , burgundy with black vinyl top , black interior??? And price and condition.

I'm not sure, but I have a copy of the 1968 Olds Optional Equipment and it lists W36 as "Rallye Paint Stripe"

Were there any Cutlass SX models there? I had a 70 model. It was torquey.
Although I've heard of the SX, I'm honestly not familiar enought with it to ID it.
It had a 455 stock, a 2 barrel carb and a 442 bumper with the cutouts.
Three on the tree four on the floor and a fifth under the seat
The 68 body is the best car ever designed, period.
The 4 speed W30 had the big cam.
Aaah, but not the W30 automatics?
@@CobblerBob Correct, the 4 speed cam part #402569 had 328°duration and .475 lift while the auto got part #400165 with 285°/287°and .472 lift.

Its hilarious that anyone would give those G body Olds' '442s' high praise.
Those cars were nothing more than a trim option, laughable.
Sorry I had to give you a thumbs down rather than tell you what your doing wrong watch a SAM SPACE 81 .

Thanks for sharing and don’t take any criticism personally, it’s a learning process & no one is perfect. You can’t please everyone.
