This was very helpful. My bulbs arrived today and I had no idea which side should face down. I have never seen such an odd bulb.

Something dug up my cyclamen and ate it last year. I guess I will plant chicken wire above my bulbs this spring.

It's Aug 16, 2021 and my Cyclamen flowers are starting to pop up their heads. For 3 years one bunch has been in a pot in shade/dappled shade, and others have been in ground in shade, in ground in part sun/dappled shade. The Cyclamen "bulbs" are called "corms" and are hard as rocks. Right now they would like some bulb food or triple "16-16-16" or compost or Miracle Gro, etc If you go to any Garden Center you should see Cyclamen in white or pink or purple : D

Hi. Thanks for your informative video. I am replanting my cyclamen bulbs for the first time. Is it possible to replant them in pots that way it's easy to move them around instead of planting them in balcony planters? I have a really tiny balcony and we have box-like, built-in, or dug--in planters in between the balcony walls. More often than not I plant in these boxes flowers that grow yearly without much maintenance. I would appreciate very much your input on these matters. Stay safe

Cyclamen "bulbs" are actually called corms...c o r m s -- and they're hard as a rock! You can plant these Cyclamen corms anywhere but they seems to multiply easier/faster if they're in dappled shade (under a tall tree) and not over watered! Under watered better than over watered. I've had some in a pot for 3 yrs now and left them alone in the pot in the shade and I only watered them a few times when the temp was 90-100+ degrees. The only time I killed one was when I drowned it - overwatered it in the rainy autumn. If any more Q's I'll be happy to provide A's : D

Yes, I understand they can be grown from seeds, but it is a long process, 2 years or so. Check some other youtube videos.

Hi, you can grow Cyclamen hederifolium in multipurpose compost in a pot for a one-year display. If you plan to grow them in the pot for a number of years, it is better to use a soil-based compost as it is a little more robust and holds its structure for longer.

Hello Naomi, Cyclamen are quite different aren't they! The "bulbs" are actually called "corms = c-o-r-m-s" They can be planted anywhere except direct hot, hot sun or in (a mud bog) clay that doesn't drain, so no standing water or the corms will turn to mush/rot. In this video you planted the corms at the edge of a stand of trees....perfect! They should multiple quite a bit if provided some food (bulb food or a standard 16-16-16 basic fertilizer) and never over water. They look so delicate, yet so hardy : D

FYI - I understand what you are trying to say, but in US we call them “bulbs” even though they look like corms. At least that’s what my gardening store calls them .🌸
