I've had work done by Flash. Replicas and ribbon bars of my service medals. Totally satisfied with the products and craftsmanship. Regards, Graeme Spurrell - Melb Vic.
Really intersting. Came due to an interest in history and because i have a lot of medals pass through my hands. I have 1 civil medal. I've only worn the full size the day I got it but wear the miniature a few times a year, and I've noticed the ribbon is not as vibrant against the full size when I put it away. A replica is a good idea. Will see if I can get one so it stays in good nice and I dont have to worry about loosing it. Thanks for posting !!!
Thank you very much for that, and I'm always happy to help you out with any medals you need, either yours or your families, just let me know. If you are interested in the history of medals, please have a took at the other 2 videos that I have made. Cheers Flash
Hey mate. Just got some medals court mounted. I should have done some research beforehand. The ones I have weren’t too bad. They are stitched at the clasp to hold the medals but then they have added some additional double sided tape to secure them. Hmmmm The mounting board is some core flute plastic. Luckily I’ll only prob wear them for ANZAC day from time to time. So hopefully it will last. Definitely wish I had seen this video before I ordered them!!!
I wish I had of known about your service over a decade ago. I've always worn my originals, court mounted as I was a lid & fell for it. Yeah I know too late, the metal material issued by ADF ain't that great either, & I haven't looked after them taking them out once a year from storage... but wearing originals has shot down the 'stolen valour' lottery losers that come out to play on ANZAC day.
Hi Julia, yes that's correct. I realised my mistake when I was editing it. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to bring it up. Good spot.
When I'm mounting the medals the clasps are stuck in place with double sided tape, then sown on to hold them in place. When it comes to adding a clasp, ideally I would remount them, as the way I mount them they don't come apart. However, no one wants to pay for a remount just to add one clasp. So the double sided tape that I use is VERY strong and sets over a couple of days and won't come off without thinners. To be fair, I don't really need to sow them down, but I do just to make them perfect. Cheers Flash
Flash Storey Oh okay, just interesting because many people prefer the old fashioned swing look over the court, as a medal mounter I like to offer both mounting styles
Hey Flash, I want to remount my families replicas myself. Wheres a good place to good die Attucks not moulded replicas? I already have some good quality ribbon
Hi JB, Sorry for the late reply. I by mine from a wholesaler. It will depend on where you are to where the nearest place is. National Medals in Brisbane will sell to the public, or Christie's in Sydney. They are more expansive but they can be good for the odd items. Cheers Flash

As a medal spotter this is heaven

Who'd you buy from?

Hello, really enjoyed the talk about medals bit the Victoria Cross ribbon is crimson not claret.
Hi Julia, yes that's correct. I realised my mistake when I was editing it. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to bring it up. Good spot.
Also, Little known that until July 1918 Navy recipients ribbon was blue.
Hi mate, a bit random but what brand is the LED/magnifier helping hand in the top left of the screen?
LOL that is a random question. It's a 3 dioptre led mount magnifier, Modlel X 4200.
Can share a video of making ribbon bars. What tools do you use when making the ribbon bars?
Hi Mate, I'm working a my next video about ribbon bars. It will have to wait till after ANZAC day now. Stat tuned.
Question, if the medals are on a board already, how do you add a clasp for years of service?
When I'm mounting the medals the clasps are stuck in place with double sided tape, then sown on to hold them in place. When it comes to adding a clasp, ideally I would remount them, as the way I mount them they don't come apart. However, no one wants to pay for a remount just to add one clasp. How do you attach the pin and clip system at the back?
Hi Mate, they are stuck to the back board with double sided tape, then the ribbon goes over top.
And where is a good place to get the general supplies for the mounting, rosettes clasps etc
All the miscellaneous stuff really
Been looking at your mounting jobs, do you swing mount at all? All your examples seem to be court style
No sorry, I only do do court mounted these days as that is the standard for mounting medals.
Flash Storey Oh okay, just interesting because many people prefer the old fashioned swing look over the court, as a medal mounter I like to offer both mounting styles
where can i get my medals swing mounted these days seeing as you dont do this work
