I absolutely love how he explains how his grooves are "easy" rather than describing how hard they are. Really helps out with the doubts of not being able to do a groove. Plus it's an added bonus to see the Sonor and Meinl combination. Beautiful kit and cymbals while also sounding twice as beautiful.

This lesson is amazing. My favorite part: the entire concept of taking one groove and then systematically moving through different creative variations. Also, the play along tracks were very musical and relatable for a working drummer!

I liked it how he developed a simple idea and built an entire new world !!! Also that amazing solo !!! (particularly when crashed and muted it the cymbal or when he plays like a sextuplets between the ride and the hi hat) I'm so astonished for how calm he play and moves around the drum set !!! What a great musician he is !!!
The best part of these lessons are about the groove. And 95 percent of most songs are grooves. So it is very important to be able to focus on the groove first. He is the funky man. To be able to groove like him takes a lot of hard work. Cheers
I've been a fan of Jost Nickel for a few years. I saw him on Mike Johnston's site and really enjoyed his playing. I'd say my favorite thing about this lesson, besides his groove, is his shoes. Thanks
It was very informative to learn about the rules and structures that Jost uses in his "systems" for creating [new] grooves. I'm sure that many other top-drummers are using their own systems, but they don't want to explain how they go about creating their grooves ( - they don't want to give away any of their secrets). Jost's information will help me to be more creative within the (limited number of) grooves that I currently play.
This is one of the most productive lessons I've ever seen. The best part was the time Jost not only broke down the groove he played but also told us the sequence of steps that went through his mind as he came up these grooves. This one lesson opens up a lot of new doors for drummers. Thanks a lot.
My favorite part, after watching several times, is at 36:00 minutes of video, when Jost worry about if it would be nicer if he plays the exercise slower. Jost seems to be a great person. Realy liked his charisma. You both are great drummers and affects me the love you give to us all. That is really cool, congratullations to Drumeo staff and Jost Nickel.

Wow! This guy is full of great ideas. I like the idea of moving just the left hand between the hi hat and snare when doing alternating 16ths. Very simple but effective!!

Most favourite part was for me that he played so relaxed during the solo and tracks. Especially solo with the evolment around with orchestrations in the groove back beat. That was wicked! Overall cool and one of the modern drummers we should look on at!
My favourite is the first groove explained, and how Josh introduce every new part on it and goes to the final groove, more complex at the end... uff!...i really need that book, LOL
38 mins or so I love how jost incorporates the left foot into the groove replacing the left. always feel as if a left should be stomping on the quarters or eighth notes of a groove really enjoy it thanks!
I really enjoyed the part of the lesson around the 20 min mark where jost talked about the 3 simple rules about creating your grooves. That concept was really interesting!
every step he shows is useful. its not just something you practice in the practice room and then never use it in a musical setting. My favorite part of the lesson was, after I watched it 2 days ago i was inspired to practice the material. especially the switch grooves because i normaly dont play like that. the hardest part was to play the hihat not too quiet with the left hand (not as ghost notes like you would when playing it on the snare) I really liked the lesson!
How do you dislike this video....smh.Nickel has pocket,dynamics and knows when to accent with complimentary fills.I seen him in solo through video on RUclips years ago and killed it.
honestly my favorite part was the ending solo before the Q & A section…since I am mainly a feel type drummer, this lesson was quite confusing yet excellent all the same. I love his groove and his amazing precision when he lets loose with those quick bursts of his. His kit and cow bell sound fantastic.

Really hard to choose my favourite part of this lesson. The whole lesson was just great. But when I have to choose, it would be the part when he explained his grooves. He showed us to make an really easy sounding groove to an really FAT sounding groove. Loved that, gave me a huge bottle of motivation. I've been following Jost on Instagram for a while so it's awesome to finally see a Drumeo lesson! My favourite part was definitely the "switch" groove, gave me some cool material to work on.
Wow first Anika and then Jost, my two favourite drummers, both within a month! The whole lesson section was probably one of the best I've seen. I loved his groove rules, a great tip, definitely gonna have a go at those! That and the hi-hat/snare switch groove "song" were my favourite parts!
Great lesson ! Love Jost's musicality and groove approach. My favourite part of the lesson was at 34:00 with the linear groove. Reminds me of "Future sounds" book of David Garibaldi, but loved the fact he adds and explains some limitations. Great concept ! So inspiring also in his solo. The more I watch Jost play, the more impressed I am. Not a lot of flash but there is so much depth in his playing. And he’s so SOLID.

The openhanded stuff was neat. But the mixing with Open and crosshanded grooves, awesome! That was my favourite part.

My favorite part was the part about the Shoes xD that made me laugh. But really besides that I LOVEED HIS CONCEPTS. DRUMEO I just want to thank you for bring us closer to our heroes. I live in Venezuela and as you may know the inflation is slowly killing us. So... not all of us has the chance to pay for a DVD, A Book, Masterclasses ETCS. That's why I really REALLLLLLY Thank you for Giving us SOOOOO much information for nothing in Return. I remember Todd Suchermann talking about him Waiting for the MD Magazine to come to his house every month and feel like christmas has arrived. But in my case I wait every week for a new lesson xD. lOVED THIS LESSON!! it made me realised that less is more! a simple concept can become many different things!!! my favourite part of the lesson was this first groove playd with the right hand on the snare and left on the hit hat!! ii sounds like a completely new groove :)
I love the alternating sixteenth note groove he does near the beginning.
i'm lovin the first lesson cause it's easy enough for me to work on. The switching of the same pattern on different instruments is also really great and definitely something I will work on. Thanks to jost for this great lesson, maybe see you one day with Disko Nr.1 again, have you seen im Schlachthof Wiesbaden and it was really a great Show!

Alternating between the ghost note and the hi hat was something that I had never thought of! Best part of the lesson for sure!

The whole lesson section was probably one of the best I've seen. I loved his groove rules, a great tip, definitely gonna have a go at those! That and the hi-hat/snare switch groove "song" were my favourite parts!

Great lesson ! Love Jost's musicality and groove approach. My favourite part of the lesson was at 34:00 with the linear groove. Reminds me of "Future sounds" book of David Garibaldi, but loved the fact he adds and explains some limitations. Great concept ! So inspiring also in his solo. Can't imagine a drumming event with both Benny Greb and Jost Nickel ! Too much groove

Of all your amazing content this might be my favorite because it really provides frameworks to immediately improve and stay away from playing the same constantly (which I do (soon did :-)) all the time). Appreciate all the efforts made putting this together!
