Hi Kimberley! Love that you're facing your fears. Incidentally, you picked the hardest size and conquered it so YAY! I always recommend quilters go bigger for their first try at it. In any case you knocked it out of the ballpark with this cute pillow. FWIW, I've made many 8", 10", and 12" Clammy quilts but I've only ever made a pillow as well with the 6". 😍

Kimberly, for not having done curves, you picked the hardest pattern. You did awesome! I do tons of curved quilts and it opens up a whole new world of patterns! Thank you for tackling this! It came out beautifully!

    Love the finished pillow!!!
And what a great idea. I just added 'try something different that I have never tried before' to my Project Chart spreadsheet for 2024. I have 7 categories yearly and I break down my projects into four quarters each year. One example is Family Quilts. And I schedule one each quarter. Some of the other 6 categories are; Fabric collections I have on hand, Using my old fabrics; My Unfinished Quilt Log, Patterns I own.
So, just finished a quilt for our oldest son and that one hit both Family and Pattern I Own.
Four of the projects I schedule one for each quarter. Two of the categories are scheduled on alternate quarters.
And I machine quilt my own on my domestic machine.
Right now I'm at my spreadsheet adding another category for 2024.
Must try something outside my comfort zone. Thinking about making a quilt using only solids. That is unless something else pops up before I use this category.
    Beautiful pillow.

It came out Great! Yes, it is good to try something new--even when it is Scary. So glad to see you go to the stiletto. I once sewed completely through my finger--the needle broke off in it with the thread still sticking out. I had to use a pair of hemostats to pull the needle through & get it out. I ALWAYS use a stiletto now.

That was a great tutorial, these can be a challenge. I made a small quilt many years ago in clam shell design before we had the wonderful rulers and RUclips that we now have access to. I had a chipboard template and a stiletto. I swore that I would never make one again. Like you said at the end though, it was a labor of love and I did take my time with it. It also got me to try a New Yoke Beauty though so I learned a lot in the process. Thanks for offering these great tips and advice as well as showing the processes so more people will have the opportunity to try something new!
