- Here is my complete guide to Topaz! Topaz and Numby have finally joined the Honkai Star Rail roster (might need to wait in EU and NA), and they bring sub dps power, but they're not just a dps, they also bring high single target damage amp for follow up units. And you can definitely run her alone if you like too. I go through her best relics, light cones, endgame stats, and fully explain her kit. I also go in-depth in the team section and provide explanation and team compositions for every follow up unit! (Yes even E4 Bronya).

I love that her kit follow her character as the "Investor" that make everyone else in team that do follow-up attack be stronger, definitely a good investment for future character that have FUA mechanic.

Despite being more of a luxury pull I'm glad hoyo is taking a break from releasing straight up "big numbers is betterer" units. I find enabling units 100x more exciting because it lets people cook. Thanks for the guide!

Who said they're taking a break from big numbers lmao. This is just 1 warp. Right after 1.4 comes Argenti which based on leaks is also big numbers and a healer that's just as good as Luocha. Power creep is what makes $$$$
@@reedsad4652yea i found it weird that her HP consumption isn't punishing enough when compared to DHIL's SP consumption, but it is what it is. they gotta make her sell i guess. but hey, they make it up with topaz who's a good character kit design-wise even if so many folks doompost her.
Topaz, like her ingame character herself, is the kind of investment type character, you dont fully see her potential now, but later on you will see her value. Hell I like having Kafka with her since she can powerup her follow up attack, which is pretty neat.
I find it fitting for her lore ^^ hoping Ipc friends have follow ups for even more fun

Hey guys, Guoba can't talk about it since he's a HoyoCreator, but I'm just a no one so here goes.
In 1.5, a new relic domain will open with a Follow-up Attack set and a DoT set! The 4pc Follow-up Set is predicted to be like 7-8% better than 2pc musketeer, 2pc fire. If you don't already have a good 2pc2pc set, you should wait before farming too much!

@@pixelpuppy It increases attack and you ignore a percent of defense for every dot on the target (up to 3?), ie it's the new Kafka/Sampo/Guina/Luka BIS.

The minute I saw your team comp with Fire MC, Asta, Himeko, and Topaz (and can’t forget numby), I knew I had to have the team for myself. Fire MC and his 3 rich, weed smoking girlfriends is way too much of a meme to pass up.

@@kushj9568 my 1st level 10 moc team this week feature fire mc as solo sustain and weakness breaker with kafka, asta and pela. Its scuffed but get the job done lol
I just got her and I tried playing her in moc with clara, bailu, topaz and kafka. Honestly, she feels great. She doesn't do big burst damage like jingliu or dan heng IL, but numby attacks really fast and buff other follow up attack damage. I would definitely recommend pulling for her if you have follow up attack teams.

Topaz is the first character to genuinely captivate me with design and personality alone, just like what Nilou was for me in Genshin, too bad I don't have enough gems for her right now (I can reach pity but I am on a fifty-fifty😭), because I spent it all on Jingliu. Hopefully I can get her still! I also love the lightcone art holy

One line description for topaz she’s plug and play on any team but she does not have a best in slot team. I love that you always have the right takes. Double dps teams are being slept on because of higher investment. The fact that she can be so high dmg while being sp positive is actually pretty insane

yall don't get it... IT'S NUMBY not Topaz because Topaz does nothing in thw animations and you all try to defend it dor no reason. It's like if Himeko had only an animation of throwing out her robot (the one from the weakness breaks) and then did NOTHING ELSE. Bet you wouldn't like that.
Topaz is the first limited 5* Elation unit.
If you take into account what Elation path does in SU and Swarm Disaster, it fits her quite nicely.

Thanks for the comprehensive guide. Pulled for her the moment banners changed, will be getting the LC soon, wanna try her kit without it for the moment at least. She and numby feels really great to play, and I love the toolbox-ey (modular) aspect of her design, it's like a support that is actually a DPS. She slots in JY teams, Clara teams, hypercarry, blade, kafka, who knows what the future holds.
Personally, her design is a homerun for me, character design, personality, mechanics, even the VAs are all great. Looking forward to future FUA synergies that we can all cook with Topaz.

PSA for all people planning on rolling Topaz, it has already been leaked that a better relic set for follow-up units will come out on the next version, I know that not everyone likes leakes but this one will literally save you so much time if you just wait two weeks to farm for her.
they nerfed it so it could work on Jingyuan mostly. The 4 piece now gives 42% atk rather than 42% follow up attack damage

She’s got that Raiden shogun quality of being a unit that definitely can do damage, but also has a mechanic that a whole team can take advantage of and benefits from and can be built around.
Of course, Raiden Shogun was also absolutely the most cracked character in the game when she was released, because every character uses bursts and a lot of bursts are good.

Kazuha, Bennet, Xiangling, Xingqiu etc were already released by then. Her only two viable comps were Rational (includes all 3 chars that i just mentioned) and Hypercarry (which relies heavily on c6 sara and bennet+kazuha yet again).

another thing about the follow up blade, you dont necessarily need jingliu if you have a well built lynx. skill on blade and hell get hit so much regardless you can make him spam follow ups like that. also should work with getting clara more follow ups too 👌

Thanks for the guide. I would have liked to see you elaborate a bit more on the main stats for boots, orb and rope. I got mixed signals on whether an ERR rope helps her reach any break points. I think you later said that it does, but that it leads to her overall dmg being lower. I would have liked to see some spreadsheets and numbers for that entire topic.
Boots I elaborated I believe, orb atk comes close / beats dmg% if running speed boots due to so much dmg%. Err rope doesn’t do anything outside of potentially a weird rotation
@@guobacertified what does a potentially weird rotation mean? Fewer turns needed for ult but unreliable? And also while you did say that we should go for ATK boots (not a direct quote), I didn't quite understand when speed boots are optimal if ever. Here you cite a condition for atk orb beating fire orb when running speed boots cuz of "so much dmg%". Are you referring to Topaz's and Asta's traces?
I'm going to get her by the end of her banner, I love the fact that she is a sub dps. She feels like a Hunt+Nihility unit combo. Like how Silver Wolf was a Nihility+Hunt (with more debuff focus while Topaz has a main focus on single target damage)

I'm going Clara-Lynx-T&N, with the last slot being left for a future SP hungry unit. This would be my 3rd team, so I am in no rush in completing it yet, but a Follow-Up team is something I like the idea of so I don't mind investing in something that I won't be able to use for a long time (I don't even have Clara yet....).

Just want to mention that numby follow up atk help way alot on toughness dmg, since its like having 2 unit in 1 and talent also dealt 60 toughness like normal skill
in follow up team when numby atk so much you can expect elite enemy toughness bar gone before it even reach 3/4 hp

Im pull for her for sure, and still planning the team i said before(topaz and numby, himeko, asta, and march). I honestly didnt realize just how strong her eidelons were. I was planning just e1s1, but if pulls are good may go to e2, or very lucky e4.
I am keeping an eye out for future relics and teammates though. Maybe one with a fancy hat to allow more breaks for more himeko follow ups for more numby actions....

e1s1 in 150pulls, after losing to himeko and FINALLY getting a bronya, in 250 pulls total, lvl 8 traces. i ran out of tracks of destiny for a4/a6, so waiting for shop reset to get the rest of her traces done, and she is hitting fucking hard for a "subdps" sp neutral/positive char. very glad to have gotten her and cant wait for more follow up chars. 😃

I wondered if a Silver Wolf, Himeko, Topaz + healer team can be envisaged or if losing Asta is too much dps loss for meager benefits (consistently fire breaking enemies' shields)
I don't have SW nor I have levelled my Asta yet but I'm curious what's your thoughts on this?
asta complements both dps really well, but i think it wont be that bad of a loss if any to run SW

1. wow her eidolon scaling is impressive. after E0S1 it seems like the choice is obvious.
not sure if you did it before, but i think players could use a video covering eidolons vs superimposition when it comes to limiteds and their signature.
well, in case you like a unit so much you rather invest in them on reruns than getting new ones.
2. surprising to hear Rutilant is worse than Salsotto. but then again her basic and skill counts as followups.
was about to pull for her but decided to wait for the next patch livestream first for the rerun schedule.
i want to see if they'll go Jingyuan next, like the original release schedule, or jump to someone else (SW, Luocha, Blade, Kafka. or even FX and DanIL)
1. E1 > S1 for dmg, S1 > E1 if you dont have cones I guess
2. Her whole kit , even if skill and basic werent FUA, are FUA, so Inert seems like the obvious choice haha

Looking at my pull history in HSR of 'losing the rate up 4 times in a row (including this one) and getting the guarantee in 75+ pity, still can't believe I got them within 30 pity today. The fault is on me since no one shouldn't build pity when they're guaranteed 😅 I was aiming for E0 Gui but, oh well, Numby is too adorable and my E2 Clara have a great teammate now :>

Topaz enables Follow-up comps like Kafka enables DoT comps. Funny enough though you can do both with March 7th, Himeko, Kafka and Topaz. Kafka and Himeko will give a few bits of DoTs and even March can with Trend of the Universal Market for Kafka to eventually Detonate. And all of them have follow-ups to trigger Numby even more
I prefer their shared synergy with FUA and Asta personally but it’s funny they work in some ways
No she doesnt. DoT without Kafka isnt viable, while follow up teams without her work pretty well.
Is the pioneer set good for her if she’s only E0S0??? I’m running her with Ratio, Robin and Aventurine but I’m not sure if I should continue to pull for her Eidolon or Lightcone. Also thanks for the guides, they’re truly the BEST!!!
I didn't wanna publicly say this but you did ask so... My pulls went great! I was at 0 pity (probably 4-5 actually but whatever) and decided to go for 1 tenpull just in case I get a random Yoimiya or Sushang eidolon. I covered my eyes to not see if I get a 4-star or 5-star but the music spoiled it lmao and I got Guinaifen on the first pull and Topaz on the second! I do not at all have the resources to build either of them right now, but I'm hoping they'll eventually make a new cavern domain with a DoT set and a FuA set so I can farm both :D

honestly i'm just glad i have alternatives, on my main account i got a hyper carry jingliu and qq and a DOT team kafka. so on my alt i'd probably mix things up and do follow ups and do whatever my blade feels like doing in that account.

I've settled on Clara (E1 with her signature), Lynx E2 and Asta E5 for my Topaz with ATK% boots. Ideally Lynx will circumvent the moderate anti-synergy that Clara and Asta have. Hopefully.

I mean I don't think Asta and Clara have much anti-synergy I'd argue, yeah it's possible that she'll make Clara fast enough to waste some of her ult follow-up hits but if you don't waste them more attack and more speed is still more damage.

I have skipped jing liu because ive invested in hook, but topaz genuinely seems so powerful, even if i only have herta to FUA with
Alright. Finally managed to E6 S1 follow up queen 👸 🎉now Jing Yuen needs E6 but I’m making him a long term project so my wallet doesn’t die like this lol have him E1 atm so maybe E3 or E4 when he comes back.

Does ERR rope bring any calculable significant benefits? I have tried it in practice and it does feel much better, but I'm curious what the sheets have to say.
Didnt find ERR helping enough to offset the atk%, it might feel comfy tho! Maybe in atk% boots asta setup?

The fact that her rotation is 5 turns is a turn off for me (i love smashing that ult button)
It seems that at E0 she doesnt bring the dps OR the full supporting capabilities so the real “sweetspot” would be getting her E1s1 before we could even consider taking her in a team (over bronya or TY), which is just wayy too expensive for me!
If i do end up getting that urge i think ill just roll for Seele Edilons. Should be a safer bet for where my account currently stands :)

I've officially cleared MoX and I've only Swarm disaster (and annoying featured 5-star gated achievements) left to clear the game, so I'm looking forward to the SU techniques (Unless they suddenly become very common). Do we have a specific curio chance for her technique yet?

Newer player here so still waiting on Lynx to make that super fun Clara team but I might try out the team with Asta and Tingyun mostly cause I just really like Asta (or try something with yokung too. The possibilities in this game!)

If we can get a more consistent follow up attack DPS than clara/Himeko/Jingyuan, Topaz value would skyrocket especially if they do a lot follow up or has AoE follow up attacks
Just like Kafka being a DoT enabler, Topaz would make your team deal DMG outside of the characters turn and i think that would be a fun team comp

@@guobacertified I finally got her. On pity but it's ok, I always try to get enough resources to guarantee a character before pulling. I don't want to be disappointed or spend money out of frustration. I'm raising her talents right now but I'll wait a few weeks before starting to farm for her relics... You know why. ;)
If you want to do 161 spd topaz, does Asta have to use Cogs for 2T ult? Cause i want to use planetary rendezvous. Whichs style would recommend more, 2T ult or rendezvous? Thank you in advance.
In hypercarry 161 is nice, outside you can do wahtever and run rendezvous since she wont be spamming skills

Question: in your topaz/king yuan team, you had either tingyun or asta. is E2S1 Bronya focusing solely on advancing jingyuan a viable option? and I have both E6 Asta and Tingyun, considering that, bronya or asta?
Thats viable too, whatever's comfiest since its super hard to calc the outcome of those two teams lol
@@guobacertified alright thanks. I already use my Asta on my Kafka/flexdot/asta/luocha team, so my Bronya would then be Jingyuan/topaz/bronya/fu Xuan for both MoC sides.

Hey I was wandering about Clara + Pela or Clara + Topaz (with Tingyun and Fu Xuan on both variations), how do you think these two teams stack up with each other. Is the defense shred better for Clara's aoe counters or is Topaz' solo dmg and amps going to be stronger overall?
Topaz will be stronger
In my experience not much of a difference. Topaz doesnt buff clara that much, and her dmg isnt that much higher. Id rather run SubDPS QingQue with her.
Coming back to this after Ratio, Aventurine, and Robin/Ruan Mei dropped just goes to show that Topaz Stonks went through the roof
Triple dps team may be fun consisting topaz + blade + jingliu + Fuxuan/luocha. 2 of them are sp positive but you still have to be careful with the sp management

So about the jing yuan topaz team, does this mean I could use asta instead of tingyun with them so I can use tingyun on my Clara/Dan Heng/Seele team instead? Or would it always be better to put her in Asta’s place with jing ? I got her today I’m so happy and as always thank you for the amazing guides
You can run Asta and it should work fine
You showed Yukong a lot but didn’t talk about her too much, and ideally my Tingyun is with my JingLiu, so how well does Yukong actually work with Topaz/Clara? Are there too many skill point issues?
Topaz can go SP positive. Yukong you just tune to be slower than the team except clara and let clara FUA and numby FUA pop off with the buffs
Clara can easily be SP neutral or positive, especially if you're playing her with a decently fast Lynx to maintain her taunt value high at all times so she can get enough energy from being hit.
Yukong is a pain in the *** unit to play.
I only play on NA also I still have 11 hours to wait, :(. Can’t wait to test a (probably) mildly inefficient dual DPS build with Kafka and Topaz, with Guin and probably bailu or Fu xuan haven’t decided yet on a sustain.

I need a little advice, i want to make a team with Clara and Topaz but i already use Tingyun in my DanhengIL team, my Danheng is E1 so he recharge his ult faster than usually, so is a good idea to put Asta instead of her so i can use Tingyun with Clara/Topaz, so Clara can have her ultimate faster?
You can put Asta with Clara and run lynx for aggro to compensate, people have told me it works

Hey Guoba, I didn't quite catch something, how much crit rate do I need on her? Is 60% alright? or down to 50%? I see her attacks have lots of hits so compared to characters like Seele or Blade for instance who are more burst (talking about Seele's ult especially), I'm not sure what's the sweet spot for having most hits crit. I'm asking this because if I know how much crit rate I need, I can make more room for crit dmg %. Also, the chest you recommended, "crit" refers to crit rate or crit damage? Oh and last question: the new gear for follow-up attack that'll come with 1.5 update, is that gonna be best in slot for her? Or just 2 set?
Crit is important no matter the hits, so higher, and a follow up set will be best yes

Had a thought. What if you run sleep like the dead. Would the crit rate bonus on miss crit affect numpy the entire time till its Topaz turn again since numpy isnt Topaz?
It would work on numby for the buff, but wont proc from numby FUA , basic and skill only
I see absolutely nobody mention how Luocha is with her. I understand Fu Xuan is better but mine is on my triple quantum team (seele, bronya, sw, fu xuan), but is he not good with her or something? I was planning to do something like Topaz/Clara/Support/Luocha, which support would work better? I have Tingyun/Yukong built but could also build Asta. Thank you for the guide!
I put the abundance icon on like every team, luocha works just fine like another abundance solo sustain, so you can use him yes

what would be better to run? Gepard - Jing - Topaz and Tingyun or Asta? I am thinking Atk% boots on both Jing and Topaz with Asta and geppie as the solo sustain but at this point nobody seems to ever recommend removing Tingyun from a Jingyuan team.
Asta works too thats why I included her, idk how exactly they perform vs each other

Yeah i'm the same boat, pulled jingliu and want Topaz for my Clara team but i have only 70 tickets 😢
Happened to do one 10pull just to make some pity up (had already summoned for JingLiu and got one) and happened to get her on 30pity. The problem is that I haven't had luck pulling either Clara or Himeko meaning I can't really try her out fully. Only ones I got (from follow-ups) are E6 QQ, Herta, March and YanQing (which is def not going to work). I could try QQ or Herta sure, but kinda bummed for not having Clara or Himeko xD

e4 bronya and jing yuan is really good and extremely fun to play. You can minmax the LL and numby along with bronya skill/ult. Bronya skill is still really good on JY skill+ult combos.
Getting that 10-stack lightning lord on a boss with proof of debt during bronya ult is so much more fun than pressing 3x skill on daniel. It's not the most meta but extremely fun.
e4 bronya is not accessible at all but you gotta go with what the RNG gods give you
Pretty sure you can do this from e0, e2 helps, and e6 is where you get the 2 turn benefit ^^
@@guobacertified yeah e4 is very cool because it adds the follow up aspect on wind weak which is even more "min maxing" you can do, trying to avoid forwarding numby when it's already his turn next etc. So it makes it more fun/rewarding/interesting

Why would you prefer tingyun instead of asta in a clara team? Is it for more ultimate uptime in clara?
Mhm, and higher dmg, plus Clara wants to be slower to abuse buffs. Both teams are useable tho
