I wrote and Produced this documentary for CGTN. The Heritage of Somaliland is just spectacular and I am happy that I am part of this amazing story. Thank you Sada and everyone interviewed for the documentary for agreeing to be featured as part of this cultural awakening.
Timothy Panyako well as an african living abroad I want to thank you from the bottom my heart, and may you stay healthy and continue to do more of this great for our people. Congratulations sister for going back to your ROOTS and sharing with the entire world how Great Africa was, is and shall soon become Great once again. You are Blessed in doing The Will of The Almighty GOD. Best wishes to you and yours.
My only correction to Dr Saada Mire is that the Aw Barkhadle Adal Sultanate town wasnt founded in the 16th century..the town has signs of a preislamic origin so it must have existed before the 7th century and as for when the Adal Sultanate founded this town, it must have been around the 12th century or the 13th century because by the 16th century Adal Sultanate was already at its zenith and waging the largest wars in the horn of Africa against the Ethiopian Empire
You might not notice it, but it's in the process. Once awdal region and Khatumo region is split from the so called Somaliland, which is ruled by a single clan.
I think sites like these needs to be encouraged locals to visit specially the young people. If you look at that registration book in the gallery the visitors are predominantly foreign nationals. $10 admission fee is imposed now for locals think this will discourage locals visiting. Let alone when it was free of charge. Also knowledgable tour guide is much needed and a better visitors centre. Thank you Sada for all your hard work.
Those painting you see in somaliland *Laas Geel* reminds me of Tutsi Cow With Big Horn exactly the same google it it's shocking no one is speaking about it.
it is good to study and preserve Somali heritage. my advice would be not to stop at the northern regions but to document all the heritage and archeological sites of the Somali peninsula and make a bigger map.
