- Ohio's three singing McGuire Sisters join Harry James and his Orchestra to perform a medley of James' hits: I Had the Craziest Dream, Ciribirbin, I've Heard that Song Before, Cherry, I Cried for You, You Made Me Love You and One O'Clock Jump. Sadly the sister on the right (Dorothy) passed away last summer (2012).

True talent, beauty, glamour and professional showmanship !!!!
How utterly fantastic is this?
I wonder if people realize not only how high Mr. James is playing that last note (concert F - Trumpet G - above high concert C) but how "open" he is playing it. That's the difference. This is why he is easily one of the greatest trumpeters of all time. The dedication to his craft and the amount of time it took him to get himself to that level is very difficult, and I admire him for that alone. I encourage all musicians "out there" to work this hard. Even if no one else in this world hears you, your work at your craft is a gift to the angels.
+Musicman2012Now: Also... what an amazing "low" register he had.!
+bcassbass Absolutely! The thing about Mr. James, is that he had total control over his instrument. That takes time and work.
+Musicman2012Now Few, if any,better
Now this isMUSIC!!!!
wOw! that Harry James rips on that horn... and the McGuires are just totally awesome too :)
magic in the air !!
the mystic, the magic, a medley of classics
If I had lived a more righteous life, I'd hope to have this as my afterlife.
-- when i can hear the magic of harry james and the mcguire sisters at the top of their craft at the touch of a computer key, i can only say RUclips is the best part of the Internet -- thanks videostimes 2 for posting this one --
magnifique
The will always be the best trio! God bless Dorothy who went to Heaven. Are they adding a new girl and continuing? Hope so!
+Bob Bateman The McGuires retired some years ago now...they performed a Thanksgiving weekend show in Tucson about 10 years ago, then one in Phoenix the following Thanksgiving, and that was it...a big farewell concert at Carnegie Hall was considered, but health issues prevented that. Phyllis just turned 85 and Chris is 90...despite that, I doubt if the two surviving sisters would be interested, unlike The Andrews Sisters, in continuing with a non-sister in their trio.
This is great! I've never seen this video!
fabulous
fantastic, still wish I had gone to the James show at the Playboy club in Columbus ohio in 83.
+david hulse -- Please keep in mind that Harry died on July 5, 1983; may be you can be glad you haven't attended this show which was certainly one of his last. I have his very last recordings he did with a Japanese songstress in 1983, with Kei Marimura, where he sounds still good, but one can hear him struggling (LP: The Man I Love - 1983, Disco-Mate, DSP-5118).
harry james died in 1983. this looks more like 1966.
I am sure it was the 60s.............mistake on the label..........I met Phyllis
in the mid 60s, still was great...........
Not 1986! Harry had died by then.
The McGuires's were heavenly! Which ones of them are alive? Do those perform? Where and when?
+Bob Bateman At the beginning of the video Phyllis is on the right (she's almost always in the middle elsewhere), she lives in Las Vegas in a mansion that sports a hugh replica of The Eiffel Tower, Christine is in the middle and also lives in Las Vegas. Sister Dorothy passed away a few years ago at her home near Phoenix, AZ.
+Bob Bateman They are all still alive.
+Mike Hudson Not so! Sisters Phyllis and Christine are alive and live in Las Vegas. Sister Dorothy died a few years ago in Scottsdale, AZ.
Aw that is so sad, sorry to hear that.
