    • @EverettBBQ
      @EverettBBQ  Год назад

      The more puzzling part is that usually all these charcoal tests, they just burn it and don't even cook any food or taste said food. What's the point, if we are not even checking the flavor...... I mean, I don't care how long something burns if it imparts a bad flavor. So, I will definitely get back on these tests for sure. Thank you, Peter for checking out this video and for commenting. 👊

    Great job brother! In my hometown we pretty much have Kingsford and Cowboys lamp charcoal as far as decent quality charcoal goes.

    • @EverettBBQ
      @EverettBBQ  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much! I would try out the Royal Oak, Walmart usually carries the 30 LB bag for $19.99 and I'm pretty sure they have a deal w/ Royal Oak so that should be available nation wide. They also have it available at that price for delivery and should give free shipping if your order is over $75. I honestly like to go to the Walmart regularly and get the Royal Oak right when they get their new delivery in so I can pick out the cleanest bags. Royal Oak has been one of my go-to charcoals as of late and it is very reasonable, at least comparatively speaking. Cheers to you my man! 🍻

    Unfortunately a lot of us don't have the Selection of charcoal. In small grocery stores they mostly carry Kingsford. So we use Kingsford. It seems to work just fine for everyday cooking

    • @EverettBBQ
      @EverettBBQ  2 года назад +2

      Yes, Sir. First off... I love Kingsford and keep at least four bags on hand at all times. I always run my Slow-n-Sear in the Weber Kettle with just Kingsford briquettes and small wood chunks. (I believe it cooks most efficiently this way. Lump tends to get out of hand fast on that attachment IMO.) Secondly, Do you have a Walmart within driving distance? They usually carry the big bags of Royal Oak Lump (30 LBs) and I keep two or more at the domicile because it is my go-to and relatively affordable.... at least comparatively speaking. Lastly, I also refrain from shopping for charcoal at groceries because they always up-charge me. In my eyes, the best deal on Kingsford will always be at your local hardware stores.... Lowes, Home Depot, etc should usually carry the double 20 pound bags for $19.99 but they also should have some other quality Lump Charcoal options in house. Thank you so much for checking out the video and for the comment my kind sir! 👍

    I just bought that same b&b lump to try, but it's really sparky when I lit it with a torch - put a little burn hole in my shirt lol. I'll stick to lighting with a tumbleweed for the remainder I think 🤣

    • @EverettBBQ
      @EverettBBQ  2 года назад

      That B&B definitely has some snap, crackle pop to it.... especially early on but I really do love the flavor and quality of that charcoal. It has been the best thus far, well except for one old school, super reliable and always available lump that Walmart sells. 😉

    The jealous Devil ribs look more moist while the B&B ribs looks like it has a more crispier texture to it.

    • @EverettBBQ
      @EverettBBQ  2 года назад

      Interesting, I honestly thought both racks were winners but the B&B was more tender for the record. I can definitely agree that the crust did look a little crispier on the outside but as Brad Pitt said in 'Burn After Reading'; "Appearances can be deceptive." 😉

    Great comparison. I’ve tried almost every lump out there and I always come to B&B. I don’t think the South/central American lumps (KJ Big Block, Fogo, JD) are fully carbonized and thus dont burn clean enough. I do think Rockwood may be just slightly better than B&B but at almost twice the price, I can’t justify it. $12.99 for a 20lb bag, can’t beat it. Keep putting out the great content!

    • @EverettBBQ
      @EverettBBQ  2 года назад

      Thank you so much, Pat! I will be pitting Rockwood up against the B&B soon. I totally agree with you on the FOGO & JD after trying both back to back.... I didn't think the flavor had much "wood" quality to it... more neutral than anything but when I bit into the B&B, you could taste it immediately. I am interested to see the difference from the Rockwood to even the more affordable options like Royal Oak and even Cowboy. I honestly use a ton of Royal Oak in my Dyna and WSM for chicken and love the stuff. Cheers, Pat and happy smoking to you, sir! 🔥

    I love the B&B oak lump. I use for ribs brisket roasts and pizza. My wife isn’t a fan of stronger smoke. My first few pizzas I tried a different brand and was disappointed. The B has nice flavor burns plenty long. I can’t see spending $34 vs $21 for the B. Just can’t justify difference. If I need something to burn forever I have a stockpile of mesquite that will do it fine.

    Joe you are the man only a crazy man like you would use a weber smoky joe kettle grill and ribs for the challenge and you did an excellent job. I smoked a pork butt this weekend on Dyna and as always, she delivered what a bark and smoke ring and what an easy grill to use and the smoke box is very easy to clean. Nice to see a man doing what he loves to do. I bet you drive your neighbors crazy with hunger.

    As always a quality video from my barbecue brother! It was a great episode pitting two lump charcoals against each other. It was a fair as one could possibly get it, great 30 minute intervals, with that the folks could see the temperature and how the charcoal was performing. Great taste test and you could see a bit of a smoke ring on the first charcoal and not really a smoke ring on the second rack. Could you taste any charcoal flavor from the second rack, jealous devil? Super video keep pumping them out, love Dyna and the "caddy"!!! Giddy up!!!

    • @EverettBBQ
      @EverettBBQ  2 года назад

      Joey Lilly!!!! 🙌 I actually thought the JD was fairly neutral on flavor, nothing off putting. I just favored the B&B a little more with it's results. Also - I finally got out from underneath that Caddy. It was my aunt's old ride that I had to buy to help her get out of debt.... long story bro but I actually ended up getting what I paid and more out of the deal.
