Your are always a treat. I love the calm voice that tells the stories without embellishments and leave the rest for us to imagine: young girl taken advantage off in the times where intimate relationships could kill because of all the risks, a supposed good-doer setting her up for such a life...

that last story reminds me of that post where someone said they were at a club where an older man was being serviced by one of the dancers when he had a heart attack, they turned on the lights, stopped the music, paramedics were called, everything was really somber and everyone was worried and as soon as the paramedics had carried him out the dj said, over the loudspeaker, "THATS RIGHT! THE LAPDANCES ARE *THAT* GOOD!"
like bro a man just died😭

But i swear it's not the content i find hilarious, i hope that man was okay eventually, but that was just fantastic, thank you thank you 😂 okay i know I'm too high when ive made too long and detailed of a comment and over shared so I'm gonna go now but I'll actually leave the comment instead of deleting this time cause maybe my future embarrassment may make someone smile and do something positive for their day no matter how trivial maybe even a lesson on not getting high before watching one of your favorite youtubers... lol

And my need to leave somekind of good behind is probably why i had to say so much and just hope someone may come across my comment and smile at this random stranger who really got to serious and will regret being so open/ vulnerable on the internet on such a video and such a comment and bring something to their day 😊

It is interesting that cancer is never mentioned in these historical tales. Considering how prevalent it is today, it must have existed. Is it possible that it was lumped in with consumption because cancer certainly does consume living bodies, regardless of species.

    • @killielila

A lot of evidence suggests that ovarian or uterine cancer was what Queen Mary Tudor passed with explaining the phantom pregancy symptoms .
An interesting story I I can remember the correct details Lady Flora from Loudon castle in Ayrshire ( where I worked in late 1990s why i remember it) was part of Queen Victorias court and was accused of sleeping with John Conroy which she denied . As she began to look pregnant QV and court at large accused her of being fallen woman. And a huge scandal ensued . She was adamant she was pure etc . Again she came home in disgrace and passed away due to a massive tumour which of course was what made her stomach look pregnant

Actually most people expired preemptively from other causes, such as infectious disease, decades earlier than we now do. So yes, cancer did exist but its ravages did not manifest as frequently as those of tuberculosis, syphilis, cholera morbidus, typhoid…

Because if I’m wrong anyway- what’s the point of deleting and hiding my comments if I’m the one who got it all wrong. People tend to hold those who can own it if they accidentally made a mistake - in a higher regard than people who gaslight and insist on being correct and delete any evidence to anything to the contrary. Leaves a bad taste in one’s mouth- but I bet this one will be deleted too - what’s more important? Facts? Or looking like you are right?? FGS, do you think it’s possible for you to call these human beings “women” instead of “girls,” as you did in the first few sentences of your video?? He!!, you could even have added “young” to get the correct description! I’m now in the ridiculous position of actually have to point out to you that a “girl” was rarely a courtesan in those days, and even though royal girls were certainly married off as young as 7 or 8, it was typically to a boy of around the same age in a different country; the marriage was done by proxy and were not immediately consummated, due to the age of the boy. Stop using sexist appellations!!

Unless you look at paintings and engravings of the time by the artist William Hogarth you’d think that those who participated in the sex trade never suffered from STDs. However, Hogarth, who insisted on drawing real life images and not what upper society wanted to see, showed pock marked men and women who unsuccessfully tried to hide those marks of STDs under beauty patches, thick makeup and masks as well as the people who had literally lost their minds due to the effects of syphillis. The worse the disease got the the poorer the sex worker became and the crazier someone who’d lost their mind became the likelier it became that they end up in a madhouse (truly hell on earth) or sent to some discreet place in the country to be cared for and often forgotten.
