Whoever been on the other side of those "taps"... know those are heavy AF!!! Yaguchi Sensei, to this day has it! Has been a huge source of inspiration when training with him at he Denver Dojo! He is funny too!
Thank you for the comment - yes you're absolutely right. I almost want to do a whole video on his humor! I've never seen anyone who stays so hard on his values and standards yet extremely relaxed and funny in other ways :)
Sensei yaguchi used to come to Calgary, Alberta, Canada regularly. I am very fortunate to have trained under him and received my shodan and nidan from him. Thanks for the video it’s very good to see sensei still teaching
A fountainhead of knowledge , consummate Karate Master , fortunate to have trained under his watchful eyes.. Wishing good health to Yaguchi Sensei.. Respects and regards , from India
Years ago at a tournament there were junior judges officiating the matches throughout the day. Only for the last few rounds did Master Yaguchi step in as referee. Light taps and no-kime attacks that got points from the younger refs throughout the day were no longer good enough. You could see the surprise from the fighters when Master Yaguchi didn't award points for attacks they thought were valid. Happy to see he's still passing on his extensive knowlege.
This is the sort of information that Westerner karate-ka simply can not reasonably be expected to obtain from the Japanese karate master. It's not because the Westerner is stupid nor that the Japanese master is unwilling to part with knowledge. I believe it's because it is nuanced and requires not only Japanese communication and linguistic skills but also that the interviewer is skilled in karate too. Otherwise the information becomes merely surface level. If I can express it that way.
Hello - thank you so much for the comment! There is a tremendous amount of planning and execution that goes into making this video. We are extremely pleased that you have such a great grasp of what we're challenging ourselves to deliver for the preservation and entertainment of the truly traditional Karate-Do. Thank you so much for your support!
