There's a scene where she's looking jealously at Penelope and up front it makes the most sense that Fran is just jealous that Pen and Colin are having an easier time getting their engagement accepted, but the intensity of the look is just so unexpected that I can't help but think it may have been a sign of Fran's sexuality and she may have had a crush on Penelope as well and that may have added to her jealousy of the situation

I really dislike this because it suggests cheating or that she doesn't love her husband. You can have two loves of your life in different timelines, as other comment said it should be Michaela who stumbles when she sees her.
I read a comment that nothing happens between the characters until much later and due to certain circumstances. So let’s see if the directors decide to keep it that way

A lot of fans are mad about this change. Michael is one of the most fan favorite male leads in the books. I don’t know exactly how many people loved WHWW, but it’s probably millions who do at the moment, especially since it’s Francesca who married twice rather than once. And the way they had Frannie have the hots for Michaela right after she married John and not the other way around just makes it look like she’ll cheat on him. And John does not deserve that at all.
nobody read those books before bridgerton. pls be for real. Those books were toxic garbage - almost everything the show has changed, it has done more the better, including michaela. no one has even seen enough of her or their new love storyline to be spouting this much hatred/anger. Why not make a gay romance with Cressida as the lead? She doesn’t have a story in the books, so give her one.
Honestly, what was wrong with keeping the gender they were given in the books? This gender swap feels forced. Welp. At least I've enjoyed the first 3 seasons and QC. Best of luck with Fran's season. 🤔
I’m disappointed by this change. Having them meet immediately after the wedding makes me not root for them at all. Plus, changing the gender changes the character. There’s no way around that. To butcher a beloved character (Michael) for the sole purpose of adding a lesbian storyline to an already lgbtgia+ friendly show, feels forced and generic. Bridgerton was my fave show currently on tv; but I’m sad to say it seems like it’s going downhill. I adored Polin’s story yet S3 as a whole missed the mark in a few ways.
Exactly! We all know how Netflix is pushing every show to have LGBTQ characters even if it doesn’t fit to the plot. But when it evolves the main characters and doesn’t fit to the storyline the show becomes so cheesy and awkward to watch. The only LGBTQ characters that I really liked so far was in Queen Charlotte Brimsley and the other guy(can’t remember their name). The rest of it was extremely awkward to watch!
The book is full of non consensual actions and Shonda doesn’t do things the old way she always makes things new and in a sense better; queer people have always existed and both the Author and the showrunners agree with the changes because they don’t impact the story overall it only adds
yh but there was no need to change a pivotal part of the book, they could have made a new character to celebrate the queer community. that book was one of my favourites because it addressed a lot of women's issues and situations that aren't spoken about enough, such as being widowed and miscarriages and the effect of them on a woman's mind. also francesca was never supposed to be in love with anyone else during her marriage with John because she wholeheartedly loved her husband. thisnwhole change just felt forced and unnecessary. what r they gonna do with her season now? she obviously can't marry her, and a romantic relationship seems far too unrealistic
I’m more mad how there trying to hint that she’s interested in her WHILE JUST RECENTLY MARRIED IN THE BOOK IT TOOK YEARS OF MOURNING FOR JOHN TO EVEN LOOK MICHAELS WAY
The basic theme to all stories so far has been translated to the screen with changes that don’t impact the storyline. Micaela as Michael Sterling will not allow the storyline to stay close to the original. Neurodivergence is also a community that was loving seeing themselves in Francesca. Couples (same gender or different gender all included) with infertility issues will now miss out on being represented. There isn’t a lack of LGBTQIA+ representation in Bridgerton. Michael didn’t have to be gender-bent. 😢
I would disagree about the representation point. In the three seasons and spin off, there has been one male gay couple, the one bisexual male artist, and Benedict having a bi threesome. The only sapphic rep we have is the unnamed characters in the male characters sexual encounters. They exist to demonstrate the male leads promiscuity, not sapphic relationships. Personally, I would have preferred Cressida to be sapphic, as that would have added a layer to her character and why her attraction to men always feels vapid. I don’t really care about this gender swap. The gender also doesn’t impact Francesca’s neurodivergence so idk why you brought that up. Queer neurodivergent people are fairly common. Basically, I’d have preferred they did a queer storyline for a different character and understand people want to stick to the books, but also let’s not act like sapphic people aren’t starved for any representation in the bridgerton universe.
Well aside from Francesca, there’s only one queer character that wasn’t there for just one episode and was never eeen again. We got Brimsley and Richards, but we likely will never see those two together either. The writers changed it to add some sapphic rep, representation matters
@@BlackRoyalty-hh8tb and Eloise’s story could have easily been updated to be sapphic. Francesca’s story is that she would marry any man who wouldn’t mis-treat her, EVEN IF SHE DIDNT LOVE HIM, JUST TO HAVE A BABY!!!
