- Do vegan eggs taste like real eggs? In today's video I'm sharing what I think is the best vegan egg recipe on RUclips! This secret ingredient can be transformed into the perfect vegan egg dupe to taste almost identical to just egg, and can make an egg scramble, be used as an omelette, and more.

Just to clarify, you're looking for split mung beans! I was hella confused because I'm like "I have mung beans, they are green??" but those are the whole ones (the ones that can be grown into big beans sprouts!). These yellow ones have been skinned and split. Green ones won't work for this recipe!
Thanks for the clarification! Yellow lentils are what you're looking for!
@@EdgyVeg I just Googled it and split mung beans and yellow lentils aren't the same thing. Thank you for the recipe! ❤
Thar's very interesting. I haven't tried to use the green lentils but always just purchased the yellow moong dal (mung dal). Apparently "dal" translated means lentil but it actually refers to a bean or lentil or legume that has been split. So, maybe this is where the confusion lies.
i dont see how split mung bean would be different from non split mung bean when you blend them. but the recipe looks amazing and great video!
@@buzz10014 They are processed to remove their skin and I believe they are also somewhat cooked. It's the same as how blending dried green peas won't give the same results as split peas even if they came from the same plant. No harm in trying it though of course, feel free to report back with your results!
I legit eat JustEgg every morning for breakfast. I hate that it’s so expensive, that it comes in plastic bottles and that it’s got a lot of sodium. This recipe could be life changing for me. I’m so excited to try it out!
Enjoy!
Please let us know how it worked for you!
So????
Try frying up some cooked chickpeas, then mash with water or plant milk, just before serving season with volcanic salt, some chopped herbs and nutritional yeast. Sooo good and healthy
If the taste/texture are not quite what you expected you could try mixing 50%/50%. I do that sometimes with Beyond Burger.
This recipe changed my life! I keep a squeeze bottle full of this in my fridge at all times now. I bought an omelette pan and I make a vegan "omelette" most days of the week now. I'm so glad she did this!
Omg so happy to hear that!!!
How is the texture?
@@saltcitytarot it is a bit potato-y. For me it doesn’t take away from how good it is.
@@margaretliston8950 Thank you 🙏🙂
Thank you #savesoil #Consciousplanet
Your stunning!!!! I LOVE THE NEW YOU! Your GLOWING!!!!
I'm a huge fan of the short hair hairstyle :) It suits you so well
thanks!!
I have been a fan of your recipes since the beginning! Many many thanks for disclosing the ingredients behind that expensive product! I am planning to make this two weeks! I am 73 years old and have been vegan for 25 years. I have missed eggs but now I can make my own circumventing the chicken entirely! Your recipes are delicious by the way!
thank you!! I hope you like it!
THANK YOUU! This is literally EXACTLY the video I was looking for! Ever since seeing Sauce Stache’s mung bean egg recipe I was hoping to find an easier to make version AND THIS IS THE ONE! 😍❤️🙌🏾 you’re the best Candace! Thanks for making exciting vegan food accessible!
Thank you! I hope you enjoy it!
Just made the transition and have seen many mung bean/yellow lentil hack videos for eggs and yours looks the most appetizing. I never thought I would miss eggs so much since I stopped eating them!
You just made my life easier! I bought mung beans in hopes of trying to recreate Just Egg. Now I can just make it, without figuring it all on my own lol
Candice I just made this and it turned out A M A Z I N G! One of the best omelets I’ve ever tasted, vegan or no. I didn’t have many leftovers in the fridge for filling but I did find some bell peppers, onions and vegan bacon. Oh and cheese sauce, so important. Thanks for the recipe as I wasn’t particularly motivated to cook but everything worked out perfectly. Next: anyone interested in washing some dishes?
Thank you for your comment! Glad you liked it!
This is absolutely delicious and versatile! I love Just Egg and this is an amazing replacement and much more affordable. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
…CANDICE I LOVE YOU (shouting )….this epic/beyond creative/game changer is SO LOVELY….HUGE TY!!
Thank you for sharing. I thought it would be long and involved to make this, and it looks so easy. Awesome! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
it's so easy!
Mark from Sauce Stache has made a mung bean based egg quite some time already and he was rather happy with the results too :) I really have to finally try it out as sometimes I do miss that more fluffy but still smooth texture you won't get from tofu.
Also, you look really cute with the new hairstyle! And the color goes amazing with that dress!
.
Sending you lots of love!
Stay safe and have a great rest of the week!
Thanks for the comment!!
Ikr? Super late 🤪
I just made a double batch of this recipe and it is so good! So glad I don’t have to buy super expensive, super processed with preservatives just egg anymore! Thank you!
Defo will try this!!! Thanls for sharing 🪴
Any time!
The video we all needed! 🙌🏽
. . . . . & the birds, too 🐣🦆🦃
Since we live in NZ and can't get Just egg here, I'm going to see about trying this out! Plus can I just say your dress is the cutest thing ever
Thank you!
Also in nz!
I bought mung beans to make kitchuri and was searching for other recipes. Yummmm, thank you!
You just blessed my life! Thank you!!!
whoaaa I would never think to use mung beans!! I can't wait to try this
Let me know how it goes!
Ok, so I just made this. I'm sure most of you know this, but one cup of dry mung beans expands when soaked in water overnight. Mine about doubled. So I rinsed them and instead of dumping the entire amount into my VitaMix, I added one heaping cup as she does in the video. So perhaps the recipe should read 1/2 cup dry mung beans, soaked overnight to make one cup. After blending, the mixture looked smooth and thin as the recipe states. I cooked some in a non-stick pan (sprayed with Pam) and frankly, I thought the texture was a bit cakey - like a thin pancake. Maybe it's the addition of baking powder. But I didn't care for it. Luckily there are lots of recipes out there using yellow mung beans, so I will have a use for the remaining amount I got from Amazon 😄
You bought the wrong thing
You need yellow split lentils often used to make dhal..
This hairstyle looks so good on you 😩💖
thank you!!
Fantastic recipe!!!! Made with oat milk and no black salt, it's easy to fry and is sooo delicious. A million thank yous!
Thanks for commenting!
Made a delicious quiche with this, it worked amazing!!
…Candice you just made me sooo happy…July is my month to sort holiday ideas/menus (how I coped during lockdown last year)…think infused honey-chili oils-new vegan meats-ferments-etc…now it’ll be quiche/huevos rancheros/tamale pie…oh you are just brilliant …HUGE ty (yes shouting)
Thank you for the comment!
THANK YOU for this!!! We love the just egg but it is so expensive we only have it once every few months when it is on sale, and we have a coupon! My bf was an egg addict before going vegan, so he will be thrilled!!
I hope you both love it!
I really love this 😭❤ ive been a vegan for 6 months now and this recipe has definitely given me ideas for recipes of my own i can make , now that i have an egg sub that is so diverse ❤😊
I'm so glad!
Omg so excited to try this! Also your hair is gorgeous, wish I could get mine that smooth and glossy, flyaways are bane of my existence
Thank you so much!!
Made it. This recipe is fire. Absolutely delicious, and so incredibly cheap. It's going into the weekly rotation.
What a delightful treat!
Let me know how you like it!
Just made it with yellow lentils and it's delicious!! I'd made them before with mung beans (but mine were whole and green, so, tastewise, it was great, but they did come out green hehehe) These look amazing!!
I'm really excited to try this.
This is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing, I'm so trying this soon! Wow!
You are so welcome!
You look adorable 🌼💫 thank you Candice your really lovely and I appreciate all that you've been creating 💐💕
thanks!!!
Thanks this is super exciting definitely will have the items on my shopping list 💜
I hope you enjoy!
Great work!!! I really enjoyed it!!
thanks!
Your version of "just egg" is nothing short of genius! I love it! I have been eating it all week in lentil flatbread and "cheeze" squares and salad! Many thanks! Take care - Judy
I am pretty sure for time saving reasons this video was edited so can you tell me how minutes total time you cooked them.
@@bhappy8892 I just eyeballed it and when it was firm enough I stopped. I was not watching the time. It was about five minutes I'm guessing.
@@judithfinelli6916 ok thank you for your quick reply. I tried Just Egg and it took a long time to firm up to even scramble.
@@bhappy8892 did you use golden lentils? It came out right with those in the other ingredients. It does take a few minutes to cook. Good luck!
@@judithfinelli6916 no I didn’t use golden lentils. I meant I used the store bought Just Egg and that took at least 20/30 mins to firm up.
I am very familiar with Mung beans, we call it mung dal which is a staple as a side dish in Pakistan. I was actually waiting for Edgy Veg’s response before I make this. Hint, hint Edgy Veg. 😊
Love the new hair!!! Thanks for all the great videos! 😋
Glad you like them!
One thing I never have to worry about is whether I will like your recipes because I always like them! Your consistency is remarkable!
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you! Very nice to be in control of ingredients.
its great!
Thank you so much for this recipe and beautiful videos!
thanks!
Wonderful spin off of eggs. As someone who loves eggs. I'm definitely trying this recipe.

Thank you! 😃
Thank you for helping me save money💗💗💗 I make your everything bagel seasoning in bulk and save so much money lol
You are so welcome!
Finally. I been loving this when I learned about it.
It really changes vegan eggs!
Thanks Candace. Just yellow lentils and seasonings. Too easy!! I appreciate that.
my pleasure!
@@EdgyVeg Hi!! Love your videos. I just made the mung bean, “just egg”
Mixture. It was pretty pretty pretty damn good! I’m a little confused though with the cup of mung beans. After I soaked them, it seemed like it was expanded to way more than a cup!!!… But then when I watched your recipe again … It seemed like you truly use just a cup when you put it in the blender. I put in the entire expanded little container that I soaked them in! After I drained them of course! Did I do that right?? Does this make sense?!
I really love thisss!!!Vegan lifestyle here i come!!Thank you so much for this recipe!💃🏻🌱🏃🏻♀️🥳
Yay! Thank you! Glad you like it! Check out my website www.theedgyveg.com to get you started!
Great recipe, trying it tomorrow!
Hope you enjoy
Thanks for the recipe. It looks so easy.
It is!
Thank you for this recipe ❣
My pleasure 😊
Your hair looks BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you!!
This is epic! Thank you 🙏♥️
Oh, just love you !! Thank you !!
thanks for watching!
OMG! Mung beans are yellow lentils? I never realized. Even if they aren't I will be using this recipe for sure! I have bought the "Just Egg" product 3 times and tossed it out all 3 times because it goes bad and I forget about it. This is great news that I can use yellow split lentils to make this stuff. I will admit, I DO miss my over-easy eggs 😥 but I am healthier, so the trade off is worth it! Thanks for sharing 😊👍💖
Wow I can't believe how easy that looks!
It's so easy! Once you soak the lentils, the rest is simple
Getting so bored of the breakfast BROL bowls..can’t WAIT to try the omelette and stuff it to the gills with mushrooms! 😋
Thanks for the inspiration!! 🙏
My new go-to egg replacement, thanks for the recipe 😋
thanks!
Thank you so much for this! It will save us sooooo much $$$$ yay!
Glad it was helpful!
For me it was like for you, soooo difficult to stop eating eggs, but this is a really good alternative, thanks! You have a new subscriber 💚
thanks!
Thanks, so great!
I literally just got back from the store and was reaching to grab a bottle of Just Egg and thought, "nah, I'll just do a tofu scramble instead. Way cheaper"
well I came here at just the right time
And you can make that homemade as well! (if you're up to it, of course 😊)
@@Daisika the Just Egg? I've made it from scratch but its never quite the same. I can't get it to scramble like Just Egg, it's too mushy
Maybe crumbled seasoned tofu with this might give the best result
@@ni3070 that's a great idea. I'll try that next time I make the homemade version of Just Egg. Thank you for the advice 🙂
This is amazing stuff. There are three vegans in our house and ever since this video came out we have had these omelets on all of our days off. I love the fact that you can make it up ahead of time to store in the refrigerator. Then just chop up your veggies and I make vegan cheese and it is so good. Thank you once again for a great recipe! 😍
thank you!
What’s your recipe for cheese?
@@catmeowmeow1662 I use Avocado and Ales AquaFaba Mozzarella recipe. freeze it a bit so it can be shredded.
I LOVE the new haircut!!!! It suits you so well :)
thanks!
This looks great! Wondering what would happen if you used chickpea liquid, at least in part, instead of a milk…. Thanks for this!
Definitely trying this!
Ps Love the cut!
Hope you like it!
Oh, I'm definitely going to try that!
Hope you like it!
There is so many good ways to make extremely good vegan eggs! Always love to see new ways! 😋
I totally agree!
I haven’t found one that I like yet but I did love eggs so maybe I’m being too picky, this scrambled eggs version looks revolting but I think I’m gonna give it a try as it’s not always what it looks like
@@autumn5852 you don’t like Just Egg?!
@@NatalieWisler I just looked it up (as I’d never heard of it before now) and we don’t have it in the UK but apparently it is coming to Europe soon so I’m going to keep an eye out for it because it seems to be popular and I really do love scrambled eggs so would love to find a vegan alternative that’s pretty similar
Impressive results you got! Pretty much like the real thing!
Glad you like it!
It looks so much like JustEgg!
I love Just Egg but since we moved there’s no stores near us that sell it 😭
I’ve been vegan for like 5 years and allergic to chicken eggs so this recipe is perfect for me! I can’t wait to try 🖤
I hope you love it!
Wow. You are genius. I can just imagine doing so many of my favorite recipes that I have missed since going vegan. By the way love your hair.
Wow, thank you!
This looks great and you look adorable!
Oh thank you!
I just made this as an omelette for diner with follow your heart smoked Gouda and topped with sautéed kale, garlic, & tomato. It was SO good!!!!! Thanks
Sounds great!
I'm so excited for this, I'm allergic to eggs and my partner loves them. I surprised her one day with a just egg breakfast sandwich and now she wants it everyday, but we definitely can't afford $8 for 4 patties
Girl, you are KILLIN' IT with these vegan recipes!!! I just tried this "Just Egg-Style" vegan egg replacement and I have to say, WOW!
I did cook my "scrambled eggs" in vegan butter (and I definitely recommend cooking it in vegan butter or some kind of oil, because I tried it without and it did NOT turn out the same way) and while it came together very different than eggs would, in the end, they came out really good, and I think I like them even BETTER than Scrambled eggs!
I could eat a plate of these just by themselves (and I did! lol), but they're also great in a breakfast burrito with vegan cheese, spinach, avocado, etc. I'm so glad I found this and I will be making it often!
Thanks for sharing another great recipe and have a great weekend!! =D
Thank you! If you have a chance, please leave a 5 star review on this recipe on my website! It really helps people find me on google! www.theedgyveg.com/2021/07/05/mung-bean-egg-recipe/
@@EdgyVeg Done! Happy to do it. You make some super tasty stuff, girl! =D
You are so mesmerizing ❤️
thank you!
Made this and it turned out so good. So easy and economical. I left out the garlic powder because I want to use it in crepes and other baked gods as an egg substitute.
hell yessss i am def trying this!
Let me know what you think!
I unfortunately do no like tofu scramble (I know, probably the only vegan who doesn't), so this is someting that I'm definitely going to try! Thanks so much!
Thanks so much fir this recipe! I can’t get just egg where I live😊
Hope you enjoy
this is completely unrelated but has anyone ever told u look exactly like the character cece drake in pretty little liars? i feel like ur voices are also kinda similar too, youve always looked so familiar to me and i think thats why. anyways its a compliment bc ur both stunning!
The recipe (proportions) would be lovely.
Making those right now, mung beans are my favourite for vegan scrambled eggs ❤
So good! 😍
Your sass cracks me up. Look garlic and onion wooooooowww (as i listen to you, I am you). I also LOVE eggs but am now allergic to them and cant afford Justegg. I will give this a shot.
Thanks for the recipe! It reminds me of Banh Xeo, a vietnamese crepe that is filled woth mung beans. The best part is that the crepe is vegan. Please try!
Sounds great!
wow so so cool. yum!
Thanks!
Life changer!!
oh yeah!
Awesome!
Happy birthday 🎉
We don’t have Just Egg in France so I’m definitely gonna try this! 🥰
It's so good!
I picked up a bag of mung bean powder from the Asian store. also I made it To recipe And made and omelette and scramble then I added a bit of tofu to the mixture and blended it and made another omelette and scramble. I preferred the texture and taste to the one with tofu added.
You ROCK.
thank you!!
Love your hair!
thanks!

Thanks for letting me know! Glad you like it!
Cool! Thank you!
happy to share!
Pretty excited, to be honest. I've had such a struggle finding savory vegan breakfasts.
I totally get that! I'm a savoury breakfast girl
This is great, I just made 12 mini-quiches out of one batch of "egg"! Thanks a lot for the recipe!
Fantastic!
Thank you! You are so sweet! This is awesome -- has anyone tried red lentils or another color lentils -- will try it bc I don't have yellow lentils, will keep an eye out to get some though. THANKS again! Yaaayay choose vegan, love animals!!
I haven't tried any other lentils but I watched another video, the RUclipsr said she tried using different lentils other than yellow mung dal and they did not work at all.
Completely unrelated, you hair and dress color combined are a gorgeous duo. You look amazing!
I’m looking for an alternative to Just Egg because I can’t do the prices anymore.
Thanks! This is it. I stay away from Just Egg.
Love love love the dress!!
