    Bloody good video. The makers of different makes of shower enclosures should hire you for your excellent and friendly instruction skills.

  • @dankydave
    @dankydave Год назад +4

    I used to work for Roman showers fitting 6 to 8 of these every day, one of the easiest shower enclosures to fit in my opinion. We used to fit our profile strips 10 mm in from the outer edge of the shower trays, it gives a bit more wiggle room then to slot the screen into the profiles.

    • @Mainactor80
      @Mainactor80 Год назад

      No way did you fit six to eight a day pal. That’s bollocks

    • @dankydave
      @dankydave Год назад +2

      How is it bollocks, have you worked there? Some people who worked there for a long time could fit 6 in 5 hours! We used to fit them all day every day in new builds, 1 every hourish is well doable! Ya man in the video is taking his time to show people how its done, once you get into the swing of fitting them your speed well picks up. Once your profiles are fixed to the wall, centralise the unit in the profiles, drill and screw 3 holes and screws either side, silicone up both sides, check the running of the doors, maybe a bit of adjustment and silicone grease on runners and it's done! Bath screens only take 25/ 30 mins to fit!

    Nice video Jimmy. Not securing one of the profiles is a good idea. I've come across a similar issue with a VP offset infinity cubicle. The instructions are a "best practice " but experience will often allow the installer to adapt these guidelines because the walls are not plumb level or there's some nuance with the bathroom finish or tray install. Have a good weekend

    I always find that when trying to manoeuvre the screen into position or the profiles I scratch the top surface of the lip of the tray. Now I put a towel over the lip whilst I get it into the profiles, once in I lift the screen slightly and pull out the towel. Doesn’t scratch at all. Great videos mate.

    10:44 - "I would use their screws, but I'm gonna use the ones I've bought". I'm *totally* with you on that mate. I've been stung by using screws supplied with shower screens, toilets, baths, shelving units, etc. being made of metal with the consistency of soft cheese too many times. Always bin that rubbish and use decent screws.👍

    Hi James, thanks for the demo. I have fitted my whole bathroom watching your channel. I have come across the first thing I can’t workout. My screen instructions say silicone the whole tray in first and I see you have put silicone around the whole shower tray before fixing the screen which makes sense, but if I do that it will stop the wall bracket of the screen sitting tightly on the tray and against the wall. What am I missing here? Thanks Graham

    Love your channel youve taught me heaps, have a question about the 15mm gap on edge of tray for channels, what if you have tiled/boarded over lip of tray, would you subtract some thickness from the 15mm, and if you dont could that be why the doors/glass are difficult to fit in at the end?

    just having a shower fitting nightmare. took the day off to get the screen fitting (its the two door one.. soon as you said its more difficult my face just dropped slightly.
    i thought then. its ok. il be more patient.
    patience just dusted away the second i started making the frame and a screw rounded off inside....
    cheap screws. trying not to scratch the chrome frame anywhere on the floor.. scratched the ceiling i painted only a few days ago carrying the frame in... such a twat!
    i been at this for an hour and a half just getting the frame screwed up and i got the dreaded news that the school pickup is on me. just dropped them off as well, so i stress out when i know its only a few hours to get it done!
    so yeah one tip id like to add, before screwing the frame up, screw the screws in the holes before adding the frame parts, if too tight, drill them out with a bit slightly the same size as the screw because the pack contains the exact amount of screws. no extra with mine.
    trying to hold the long frame side, with the arched frame.. getting the right angle to tightly screw the screws in is impossible with this kit i have.
    anyways.. onto drilling the frame to the wall now. urgh.

    • @Retrobution
      @Retrobution Год назад

      just finished it.
      i hope to never do this again. if it was just for me id probably just go for a shower curtain lol. just that sheer panic that sets in trying to fit the glass in when its tight, as it said to fit the glass after fitting the frame. so, frame off.. slackened the screws. adjusted. fit nicely then. but like where do u put the glass safely etc.. then fitting the rollers on underneath trying not to nudge it so that the rollers on the top dont come off the rail...
      the bottom line is.. doing a bathroom takes bloody ages so unless you have a lot of time, its worth just getting someone in to do it XD
