  • The fourth and final day of the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games begins with the Swim Paddle event in both the Individual and Team competitions, presented live from Lake Monona in Madison, Wisconsin. The Rogue Iron Game sets the stage, as Sean Woodland, Annie Sakamoto, Chase Ingraham, and Dan Bailey discuss Tia-Clair Toomey and Mat Fraser's potential paths to history and who might join Mayhem Freedom on the team podium.
    In the Swim Paddle itself, the Men, Women, and Teams all take part in an event that includes a 1,000-m swim followed by a 1,000-m paddle. A pair of Australians, Matt McLeod and James Newbury, try to eclipse headliners Mat Fraser and Noah Ohlsen in the water on the men's side, while CrossFit's Aussie queen, Tia Toomey, creates separation between herself and the field. Meanwhile, Team Invictus looks to propel themselves to a podium spot as the field shrinks to five.

    41:10 never hold your breath when swimming. If your face is in the water you should be exhaling. If you're going hard, breathe in every two strokes.

    What do the athletes eat/drink between events for fast recovery? And when do they eat their full meals since there isn't much time between events?

    • @deadlyfred02
      @deadlyfred02 5 лет назад +5

      Going from the documentaries they eat (?) those gel/paste sachets for fast recovery. Going from my far from perfect understanding of nutrition they probably also have shakes/pills of supplementary proteins/vitamins/etc.
      For full meals I'd expect smaller portions as soon as possible after events, in smaller portions but maybe quite a few a day, with lots of vegetables, some carbs eg brown rice and some protein eg beans, meat, etc.

    2 leaders on swim should have took turns drafting each other. Triathlon swims in big races don't allow women and men together so that different genders can't draft each other on the swim.

    • @DanielMooreDJ

      Their technique is bad even I swim faster than them and I’m not one of the best. Some things include bad head position, head too high, no high elbow recovery, lifting head when breathing instead of tilting to the side, bad kick pattern. There’s so much more I could go into
