Severe storm strikes Sydney with hail and lightning

- At around midday, Sydney was hit by a large storm system which produced lightning strikes and hail around 1cm in size.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued by the Bureau of Meteorology.
An impressive and daunting dark sky blanketed the city whilst a shelf cloud developed over the Eastern Suburbs.
In Dover Heights, a team of local painters couldn’t resist the opportunity to take a few happy snaps, but it didn’t take much convincing for them to flee when the storm was headed their way.
One resident desperately tried to cover up his vehicle whilst he was being bombarded with hail stones. Others ran for cover and protected pets.
The storms moved out to sea and further weaker storms are expected to continue.

Flights at Sydney airport were delayed whilst the severe weather moved through.
The NSW State Emergency Service received ten calls for assistance across the metro area, with Hornsby being the most active.
Other than looking spectacular, the storm did not cause significant damage.
1:31 - "You'd better go, 'cause lightning risk goes up" - followed immediately by, yes, lightning.

Nice job, Daniel! Are you still here in the U.S.A? I'm here in Atlanta, ga. Have you ever been here? If you do come to ga, check out Stone Mountain. I've been atop that mountain when a storm hits, and it's quite scary. Even though it's around 550 feet at the top, you can really feel when wind currents change quickly. It's not like I planned to be up there one day, but there I was with some friends of mine. Thank God we were near the summit when the storm came, or we would have been in trouble. We made it inside the welcome center at the top and waited the storm out.

Sunshine Coast (QLD) got hit hard last night with impressive rainfall in a hour of around 118mm. Emergency Services extremely busy, roads cuts and now a clean-up.
My dad was on sydney harbour bridge with all his friends and the lightning struck just beside their car. It's a miracale he wasn't hit. Chance or god.

I feel bad for the guy. Here in new york usa i live in glen cove specifically i had a tornado form right over my house while i was leaving for work as a firefighter they predicted strong winds up to 100 miles per hour then they predicted severe thunderstorms and it got ugly from there
