I love watching whatever you put out on RUclips. My health does not allow me to do metal detecting or bottle hunting. I sit inside the comfort of my house and live vicariously through you on your treasure hunting adventures! Happy hunting from your friend in the Philadelphia suburbs.
I really enjoy getting the behind-the-scenes input from you regarding all things content creator. Informative and enlightening! I'm personal friends with a few SoCal metal detecting content creators... much respect to all of you for all the work and effort that goes into regularly putting out content! I wake up about every morning with a cup of coffee, my dog by my side, and my daily fix of Gigmaster Steve. I admire his energy, dedication and consistency to put out a vid every day. He occasionally ventures off and does something outside his primary niche of treasure hunting... maybe those don't interest me as much, but I still come back every morning. He has become part of my morning routine because I like him, he seems like he would be a good guy to be friends with.... in-other-words, even pseudo connecting on an "internet" level has entertainment value if you have an engaging, informative and positive personality.
This is my seventh year detecting in Maine. Thanks to the El Nina season we had this year, I was able to hunt every month so far. Normally we are frozen in from November until March. Been hunting my river for as long, I am still pulling goodies from her. Season is almost done in the water :(
Well put Brandon. Any Outdoors activities is my ultimate goal. Visiting historic sites and traveling the U.S. and treasure hunting along the way. From Detecting, mud lurking , bottle fishing ,and magnet fishing.
I've had the same exact issues. All the close spots are worn out, so I'm having to move further and further outside of the normal range to get content. I don't mind, it's a lot of fun to travel and go explore, but it's a LOT of work!
I really enjoy your videos!! It reminds me of my childhood. I lived in the woods and stomping around in the creeks and branches around my mom and dad house.
The reason I watch a RUclipsr is because of their personality, knowledge, and seeing their enjoyment of what they are doing. And you have all of it, so I don't mind what kind of adventure you take us on. And in your last video I really enjoyed listening to your crew talking about the history of the bottle while one was digging it out.
Watching from over here in Australia, l really love your vids. You’d have to be one of the most well produced content creators in this field. Here’s a few ideas of different vids you do. *bottle polishing *market or garage sale pick ups * visit other collectors and possibly look at their collections * talk to / interview some old timers about legendary digs of the past * bottle show vids * more collaborations * find someone who probes for privvys to teach you and add that to your options? Your 8-10 min clips are perfect length so maybe do some in parts if you are finding heaps ? Keep up the great work 👍
This is great, I started kinda doing this with our channel early on. We do metal detecting, dump and bottle digging. Antique store adventures, exploring and history videos. I do research on the finds we find and do a history video on them. I also do history videos on random topics and the backstories on folk songs. Our channel is all about history. We’re not trying to make a living on RUclips, it’s just not realistic for us, we have less than 2000 subscribers. We’re really just doing it because it’s fun, we love history and I also reckon we like acting crazy, cause we do sometimes! I know I don’t always comment on your videos, but I always watch and leave a like. You’re one of the best treasure hunting channels out there and you keep it real!
Just started documenting. Been hunting stuff for years but I have no plans of being a RUclips sensation, just making videos because why not I’m out there doing it anyways. Good channel man.
KG and Ringy content creators come to mind I personally just enjoy watching the videos that certain people create and I have learned quite a bit from listening to you keep up the good work you are definitely on the right track 💪
Thanks for this video Brandon. I’m dealing with the same issues you mentioned. My last few hunts haven’t produced a lot, so I’ve decided not to put any videos out. You may have just changed my mind about that though because I’ve lost my consistency and momentum just as my channel was really starting to get more subs. As soon as I started getting an influx of new subs (like 150 over a couple of months) my hunts started becoming less productive, so I felt that there was not enough content for a video. I’ve gotten a few new permissions, but they’ve just not produced much at all. Also, like you said, time is a huge factor as well. This RUclips gig is quite a challenge, but I do enjoy sharing/documenting my finds. Happy hunting man!
Started bottle hunting in the early 60’s with my dad and metal detecting in the early 70’s in Georgia. Went through everything you just described. Had a blast for many years. Now I am too old and the knees say no to these activities. Love your channels: the next best thing to being able to do it myself.
Time is definitely my main issue, but hunting spots are fewer than in the past.....The Arrowhead Patch is about all that has kept me going.... Always enjoy your videos, man 😎✌🍀⛏⛏
Sounds to me like you need to move 400 miles in any direction so you can start a new 200 mile radius...problem solved! Seriously though. I spend 8-10 hours weekly detecting, my wife edits for 5-6 hours to create an 8-12 minute weekly video. That doesn't count all the time spent researching. So far, I've mainly existed on hunting public or semi-public property. My choices in my metro area are running really low. My wife keeps telling me I'm going to have to start doing yard permissions. Not sure I'm into that. Part of the "challenge" is being able to find old stuff when public areas have been pounded. Alas, I'm rambling...
I don’t metal detect very often and have switched to bottle digging because most of the good old detecting sites in my town have been totally cleaned out.
I do not make videos or produce content. I haven't been the best about liking videos or comments. However I've learned it helps so I've tried to do more. The bottom line is though. Yes it's amazing to watch you or the crew find awesome bottles or other artifacts but the best thing is the hunt. The work. Just watching the dig and detecting or the diving. I love the knowledge you bring. please don't stop. Easy for me to say. I'm not putting in the hours that you do. So no matter what happens or how this works out I'll watch your content. Thank you and your family.
All of us in the hobbies whether bottle/privy digging, metal detecting, and etc. if you stay with it, experience the local diminishing returns. It forces us as you pointed out to expand the search area . You just have to keep at it, try to be more creative in your potential search sites, and live with the results. I’m not a content creator, but a hobbies participant, so I do fully understand what you’re up against. Hopefully the audience can grow to appreciate this and enjoy the fruits of your labor even with the thin finds times. If not, that’s on them!
Getting monies for making videos is hard, posting random searches whether or not you find anything good, just to chat with people in the comments is pretty easy, thats how i use youtube, sure id like to be a "professional" but i know i cant produce very pleasing videos, so i just post my hunts and chat with people in the comments, i get 50-150 views per video and 4-15 likes, and most importantly to me some people post questions or statements in the comments Though what i like about you is you read most of the comments and reply to a lot of them, i dont even watch your treasure videos just your blog posts lol, what is your normal channel? But yeah i dont really stick around to channels if the creater dosnt read the comments, unless im getting something from the video like learning a skill Sometimes if i dont find anything except garbage, ill post the whole hour or longer video and lable it "footage dump" which to me means watch at your own risk, surprisingly they do as well as my other videos
it is so nice to learn about all the good and bad stuff that is out there. I do not go out and search in my area for glass treasure, I go to the bottle shows presented locally. I might buy a few bottles! I do not have all the needed equipment, nor at this time want to invest in it. but i love to learn, and understand about this piece of amazing history!
I have been following you for years and learned a lot from your channel I am getting close to 1000 subs but it has taken 6 years . I like you do metal detecting and bottle hunting my problem with creek or river walking is that I only have a small window here in New England so I went the metal detecting Direction and we got plenty of finds and a lot of permissions a lot of colonial things comes out of the ground. My problem has been my filming. I never show myself on camera really and that was a mistake. I got 404 videos up on RUclips. I consistently release one every Sunday and I got enough videos stored to bring me well to the winter . I watched Quarter hoarders video from last week. I think it was where they interviewed you and I really paid attention what you were saying about you got to have a personality and you got to be in front of the camera. So I was lucky enough to be on an event last Saturday where quarter hoarder was there and Green mountain metal detecting and Stef's dig metal detecting And I had a long talk with quarter hoarder about filming and he said what you said you got to get in front of the camera. You got all the finds Got all the land but you got to get your personality in front of the camera so that is what I'm going to start to do. He said you got an awesome personality when we're just talking. You just got to get it in front of the camera
Tteasure hunting Content creating is not easy! I have the same type of thing happening to me in my area. I'm hunting already hunted ground and I m running out of places to go. I find myself breaking into other types of treasure hunting. My channel started as a prospecting channel, but quickly went to detecting....
I’ve got to be careful when watching your metal detecting videos. Because once I fell asleep watching them late and my wife thought the signals were here alarm going off and she thought she was late for work. Needless to say she wasn’t happy about being woken up 2hrs before she needed to. Lol, hope this makes you laugh a bit.

This is extrememly helpful and relatable. Thank you, Brandon! Very inspiring!
Exactly, no matter what, I still love watching your videos. Keep up the good work.

Arms Family Homestead. Daniel has a great channel.
Good video Brandon.
Full time content creator I think about Brad Martin and Green Mountain Metal Detecting. 🙂
I think diving for treasure is where it's at ,Brandon.
