he was rly only releasing albums a lot bcuz 1. Warner Bros allowed him to and 2. When WB started treating him horribly, he began making albums solely released so he could fulfill his contract
Comparing Prince and Michael Jackson based on Albums: Prince had way too many albums which he wrote. I bet a lot of them are good but the only ones we usually remember are from mostly the Purple Rain Album, and the lead track in some others. Michael Jackson had way less albums than Prince but the songs were really one of the best and greatest hits in the 70s to 90s and holds up to this day. So It's a balance of pumping out new songs and the longevity of the songs hype and feel to have the listener's breathing room. If you know what I mean. I'm talking like a dude who knows about marketing. (But in all seriousness we all know that both are the greatest artists who ever lived)
Was actually thinking the same thing. The fact that it was stable in the top 10 and then it goes ⬇️⬇️ so hard (weird chart run for me). If someone will explain the reason behind that then it'll be truly appreciated.
Might have to do with the way it released. Part of its chart success is a result from fans getting a copy of the album during concerts of the Musicology Tour. The album cost was included in the ticket price. Billboard then changed the rules to where that can't happen, so the week of Musicology freefalling might be the week the rule was put in place.
One of the most innovating and influential artists to have ever live ❤️
Oh wow Purple Rain’s comebacks!!!
Purple rain a revolutionary mid 80’s album⭐️🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 An 80’s icon FS
he was releasing albums as if his life depended on it
Probably. With them flopping so fast he definitely needed whatever little revenue they made to stay afloat

why did musicology freefall so hard from 12-120 something

Sold from concert tickets for like several weeks. Afterwards, Billboard imposed a rule that after three weeks you couldn’t do this.
Who was that person in 3121 planet earth and lotus flower it cant be prince
Yes that is him. One of his many different looks.
So he’s been flopping for 2 decades and now that he’s dead we love him and call him legend?
he was mostly independent and didnt like being with a major label
