  • The driver's-side sun visor broke on my 2007 Camry. Sure, you could order a new one, but then it would cost $50 and you would suck. I did this hack job instead and so should you.

    My visor broke today. First thing I did was search RUclips. Found your video. My broken part looks just like yours. Thank for the DIY

    Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I was ready to order a new one, which led me to the internet. I'm putting a bolt with a nut through mine, but it was helpful to see how to avoid breaking the plastic piece that attaches to the roof. Thanks again.

    Your video was the best by far of the several I viewed. THANK YOU (your "special young lady" likes your vids because you're good at this). I bought a replacement for my visor but noticed when I removed the old one that it seemed remarkably fixable so YIPPIE! Going to follow your lead.
    The replacement I purchased looks exactly the same with the exception of the base of the plastic piece that includes the metal tabs. I could NOT get the new visor to click in but the old one fit once again and held beautifully. I read on one of the other "replacement vids" that if you have a Camry build in Japan and get the USA visor the mechanism will NOT Fit. There is a very slight physical difference. My VIN begins with a 4 so it was assembled in the Good Ol' USA. FYI Here are the other VIN codes for Toyota.
    Toyota VINs starting with "1", "4", or "5" represent vehicles assembled in the United States, VINs beginning with "2" indicate vehicles assembled in Canada, and vehicles with VINs beginning with "3" were assembled in Mexico. Vehicles with VINs that start with "J" were produced in Japan.

    Called the dealer, $85 for a replacement. Money is pretty tight right now so I don’t want to spend $85. So many thanks to you, this video saved me $85 for the time being and have a visor that is working again.

    I've recently discovered baking soda and super glue as an excellent adhesive/plastic filler. I have a floppy visor. I'm going to use the info in this video, but instead of the screw, I'll dust with some baking soda and drip on some Super glue. Yes, I'll clamp the 2 halves together first.

    • @larrygibbs1144
      @larrygibbs1144 2 года назад

      The glue concept failed - I used 2 nuts, washers, and bolts. Now in the process of stitching.

      @@assgrapes Thanks for the video walkthrough, it really helped me know what to look for once I opened it up and went to town on it! I ended up using sharp tweezers to stab three holes on either side of the casing and tied it shut with three zip ties instead of a screw. Looks like a good substitution that I think will hold up great.

    Holy literal shits. I honestly doubted I would find what I was looking for after watching the first few videos which were not repairing the visor but installing or reinstalling one. I laughed out loud when you panned to the lone metal rod with the clip on it, as that is exactly what I have in my car now. I wonder if this is/was common for Camrys as mine is a 2009, same exact issue. Now I’m glad I kept the visor itself, and am definitely going to give this a shot. Thanks for the video!

    Hey there, thanks! I had viewed many videos to try and fix my 2011 Cam Hybrid visor. I wish I saw yours first, because I ended up buying a metal plate, with much difficulty, wrapping it around and forcefully trying to line up metal screws to go through to the other side. I started more medially (towards re-view mirror) with my screw. I got it to match and it held my plate, however, where you placed your screw- I was unable to get the same length thru #6 1.5". So I ended up just leaving my one screw in and it works. Next, I used stitch removing tool to slide the material back under the mirror after I sewed back the material on top. Looks pretty good. Lastly, of course it is 100 deg out and noon- I tried for about 15 min to get back into "socket", but those damn black fasteners are not playing nice. So I will try again this evening. My question to you- did your mirror light work after this? Possibly, your 2007 doesn't have a light and I may have a problem because I have more pieces to try and fit together. Anyways- thanks for this!

      Hi Amanda, well I know that my visor doesn't have a light working on it now, but I don't think that it ever did. I never had to dis/connect any power lines or anything so I don't think I ever had a light on mine. Remember that you can't get the black clippy thing in there with the grey plastic caps on (see @4:30 in the video). Good luck and let us know how it goes!

    • @amandaeagan1933
      @amandaeagan1933 6 лет назад

      Unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful.The black clips and the cover piece may be the problem now. When I push it up into the roof, the black clips detach and fly up into the roof space (I can't even get them out now, lol). I may just have to suck it up and part an entire visor :(. Thank you for your ideas up to now.

      The mirror lights r a pain in the ass! I was working on a 2012 Camry the lights r above the mirror which makes it even harder. When u slide the plastic mirror cover over the light is supposed to come on. I must’ve put the thing back together n taken it back apart 30 times! I ended up having to position the little egg shaped cap on backwards bcuz before that I couldn’t get the engagement to see the light go off so it was stuck in the on position. I literally tried everything. So now it all works but the visor will now not go in the position to block the drivers side window at all! Oh well that’s why god invented sunglasses 😂😂

    yours to fix it, but I used a seem ripper to cut the stitches then was able to sew it back up so the repair was nearly invisible (i just used whip stitches to put back together incase it fail and I can see those stitches a little.)
