One thing I loved about my middle school art teacher was her openness towards stylization and creativity yet still teaching the important and practical bits of realistic pieces! Hopefully more teachers like herself are hired (she wasn’t worth the horrible pay)

I remember when I was like 9 in school once we had a random art session, art was never a consistent class back then it was just something they threw in every now and again. Honestly I think if we ever had a free slot they just randomly chuck an art session in because they couldn't think of anything else :D. Anyway I remember during one of these random art sessions they asked us to come up with and draw a god, they said it could be anything and we had to come with what it was a god of and it's powers and such. When they asked us to do this I was currently obsessed with The Legend of Spyro games that had just come out. So for my drawing I just drew Spyro and basically ripped off the games purple dragon powers for my description (changed it a little bit). When we were done the teacher basically had all of us show our god designs and talk about their powers to the whole class. When it was my turn a boy in my class called out that mine was a game character and the teacher didn't give a shit :D. Didn't even need to defend myself as the teacher didn't even ask me if that was true and just moved onto the next kid. Kind of shows how little they cared for those random art sessions :D.
My art teacher was very nice about me never doing anything I was told and breaking out the Fancy Markers for seniors and serious art kids to draw my weeb shit. Those are some of the only nice memories I have from high school. He was a really wonderful guy.

My art teachers, however, didn't think that style worked with certain mediums and marked me down for it. Which was ridiculous because they never specified it had to be certain styles or anything. If that was the case I would have followed that.
The whole anime art not being recognized in schools is so true. I got a D on my final exam art project in collage and the professors notes on it was that the style was lazy and unrealistic. I spent weeks on that acrylic painting. But he did say it was quite creative to have the painting on a piece of wood rather than a regular canvas. I tried

the story of getting caught drawing in a Christian school reminds me of a time i was on a bus to my local church for an afterschool like church club (i only went for the prizes for getting questions right) and i was drawing an anime girl and it was only guidelines at the moment so it was two ovals, a few lines, and a faceless head and this guy who was way too old to be there but his grandma was supervising the bus saw me and started freaking out and calling me names and his grandma comes over and she is calmer but mad too and this grown ahh guy SCREAMED, full on spit flying, everyone turned around, SCREAMED at little 4th-5th grade me and the grandma, instead of scolding her grandson, tells me "honey, just close the sketchbook" and i was tryna explain "dawg shes gonna have clothes" but i was fr panicked cuz that was scary and they called my mom and she got MAD at them and pulled me from the club.

It was obvious he loves anime and he never put anyone down for drawing in that style. Funny story, during the pandemic and everyone went online, he, get this. He hooked up his camera and zoom to motion capture or whatever it's called and had a model rigged up like a Vtuber. He taught all his online art classes as a Vtuber anime boy. It was ridiculous and I absolutely commend him for that! He was also just really good at teaching us really helpful and fundamental art stuff and just legitimately passionate about his job. I felt like I won a lottery to have gotten an art teacher like that.

Knowing how art contests work. A rule is it can't be anime (like something that already exists so you can't like draw Batman and submit it) and it can't be traced. One girl was disqualified because they thought her work was from an anime when it's just her own unique characters in that style.. I loved it so much so I asked the art teacher if I could have a copy, she graduated the year before so I couldn't ask her. The art teacher was very upset about that competition, that art was perfect, they only used pens. The art teacher believes that she would have won if she wasn't disqualified

I can relate to fairy, I used to keep dead animals as well, I used to scoop up dead birds, frogs, and squirrels and such in jars as a kid

A rule is it can't be anime (like something that already exists so you can't like draw Batman and submit it) and it can't be traced.
One girl was disqualified because they thought her work was from an anime when it's just her own unique characters in that style..
I loved it so much so I asked the art teacher if I could have a copy, she graduated the year before so I couldn't ask her.
The art teacher was very upset about that competition, that art was perfect, they only used pens. The art teacher believes that she would have won if she wasn't disqualified

13:42 in my town it’s subway and Pizza Hut they are in the correct order and that being left to right and subway is still selling pizza and in my opinion it’s still better then Pizza Hut because soft pizza with the specific dough taste and it doesn’t hurt my teeth.
