    Hey, we just bought a Sleepypod Terrain harness XL for our 85lb lab mix. I had originally purchased a cheaper harness but returned it after seeing the crash test failure video of that particular pet store brand. The Sleepypod Terrain is much better quality. The buckles are made of metal. The entire construction is studier than other harnesses. It's easy to put on my dog. The car's seatbelt secures through the harness which is a lot safer than the questionable tether straps that are used with other harnesses. Our dog remained in the same place throughout the car ride, and he was still able to lay down. I'm very satisfied with this purchase. The harness is well made and fits great. It's worth the extra money as it's way better than the competition. You will see and feel the difference. **There are sizing instructions on the website.

    I’ve always kept my Service Dog in a safety belt/seat of some kind but as it turns out, some of the “crash test ratings” on other brands are not accurate. Sleepypod is rated independently by the Center for Pet Safety and both of their harnesses received a 5 star rating while most other systems have failed the tests entirely. The other one that passed is ZuGo.

      Exactly! I found that too. I wish companies wouldn’t try to mislead their consumers about the safety of a product.

      @@JenFarrer Did you happen to watch reviews on the allsafe harness? That one was recommended to me and I’m trying to choose between this one and that one.

    • @JenFarrer
      @JenFarrer  3 года назад +1

      Yes. I have seen that one too. I like to sleep a pot better because how the seatbelt actually gets through the harness rather than a tether. The tether seems dangerous to me, too much room to wiggle. I also like how wide the chest plate is on the sleepy pod because it prevents her from wiggling around and it seems like more coverage would protect her. The material is puncture proof.

    Awesome info! I'm thinking about getting one of these for my dog, but he's quite narrow between his front legs. Could you please measure how wide the front part is? Thank you so much! ❤️❤️

    • @JenFarrer
      @JenFarrer  3 года назад +2

      When Pharaby is standing there’s only about an inch between her front legs but the vest is 3 inches wide. When she sits down her legs are in a different position so it has more of her chest exposed which works out great with a vest.
      She has the size medium vest.
      They also make a clickit sport that is a little more narrow in the chest but it still has the same safety rating and the two back loops that the seatbelt goes through so I think that one would be very safe too. I don’t have it so I can’t speak from experience but that company test all their products so I feel confident in recommending it.

      @@JenFarrer thanks! Sounds like Pharaby has a very similar body shape to my dog, so if she's comfortable in it he probably will be too. I'll check out the sport version too!

    Two questions do service dogs wear backpack instead of a service dog veat? could someone use this with the backpack instead of a service dog vest?

    • @JenFarrer
      @JenFarrer  2 года назад +1

      I don't see why not. I know here in the USA that would be totally fine. If you are not in the USA check your local laws to be sure because some countries have different rules.

      SD Vests are not required at all in the USA. You can attach Patches to the backpack if you like, but again, it is not mandatory at all under the ADA laws.

    My dog always steps on the seat belt buckle and gets out of the harness. Is this system buckle any better? I have purchased multiple harnesses ?

    • @JenFarrer
      @JenFarrer  Год назад +1

      There’s no way they would step on the buckle on the actual harness. They could still step on the seatbelt buckle with her front paw possibly. You can get something called a “buckleroo” on Amazon that goes over the button on the seatbelt in your car. It’s for toddlers 🤣 pharaby had to have one for a few months when she was little & nosey 🤣🤣🤣

      The current models of this harness come with a cover that attaches to the belt lock and prevents the dog from releasing the belt.
