That big flathead ran like crazy on that light tackle, that’s absolutely amazing. That rod looks like a great bang for the buck! Thanks for the awesome video, Spencer!
They're so much fun on lighter gear when you can hook em in a fairly open spot. It doesn't work that way very often though haha. Glad you enjoyed it man!
Long video, short video, i could care less cause there all awesome. You are my fishing hero pal. Keep em coming. I'm laid up having shoulder surgery so tagging along with you helps keep me sane. Thanks pal
My friends and I grew up wading and swimming through creeks and small rivers like this one. We'd fish and camp or just go hawging when we didn't bring a pole and this really takes me back. When the daughter gets out of college and funds currently going towards tuition can be repurposed to a Nucanoe or the likes I really look forward to getting back to it. In the meantime, I appreciates you taking me along. You really do turn out quality content. Thank you very much.
Reminds me of my younger days. In my mid 20’s after a little 3 yr stint with Uncle Sam. I loved going out and just laying on a pond or river bank fishing for bull head or actually anything that would bite. Well 50 yrs later and I still like it. I’ll tow my little camper with my bike and lay up at a local camp ground on lake Murray SC. From the hat you live in Illinois I’m guessing. Lived there too in the 60’s and 70’s. Again, thank you for taking the time to make and share this video with us. Tom
Went out to the lake and caught a 5lber and a couple 3s tonight. Haven't caught channels that big before out of this lake, so it was a good night. Now, unwinding and enjoying Mr. Certified, which makes it a great night!
Thanks for the awesome video Spencer . I was surprised to see it this soon from the last post so .. great way to pick up a Monday . I enjoyed the shore catch and cook and I’m looking forward to more . 👍
Spencer if I may offer a suggestion for when your on a bank at nighttime you should look into those tripod stand battery operated lights that are rechargeable. There’s many options so far as price but if money is not much an issue I have the Devos lightranger 2000 lumen light. $250.00 bucks but Compacts down to a small zipped bag and extends to 10 ft tall when deployed. On full blast it last 4 to 5 hrs and has amber and red color and can be controlled through the Devos app on your phone. (No im not sponsored by them). Purchased with my own money and absolutely love it for nighttime cat fishing. Lights up to an 80ft round area and would be great for illuminating the night for your videos. I watch so many of your videos I felt I had to finally add my 2 cents but either way love the vids man and keep em coming.
Your kayak flathead trips are my favorite! I hope someday to get a lot more chances at trips like this. Working five nights a week sure gets in the way of my fishing hobbies.
I agree with your thoughts about eating smaller fish - doesn't only apply to flatheads (none where I come from), but most species. More sustainable, less likely to damage the population by not removing the big breeders, and they just taste better. Thanks for another quality video! And congrats on that big one!!!!!
awesome vid man. nothing like small tackle bigs. the kayak rigging has actually been great. some really good tips and ideas. appreciate what you do and how you do it.
That Baby Flathead looked scrumptious. Thanks for taking me along. That one Flathead was quite large and I'm betting was lots of fun to catch. You stay safe and God bless you and yours 😅😅😅
Hey Cubby, just a helpful tip from a fellow yak catfeesherman Get a hydro web and remove it from the shaft, then set it on the front of the yak and the struggle at the side of the yak that we deal with is over and you’ll never lose another Monster struggling to land him when he’s only inches away. Trust me, I’ve done the same thing you have grabbing the leader line and I learned the hard lesson just like you did with your Dream Flatty. At first I thought I was an idiot for bringing a net on a yak fishing with multiple rods on a river but it hasn’t gotten in the way once and I haven’t lost a fish since
This was one of the best videos I've seen in a very long time. And WOW, congrats on that big flathead Spencer. Just love watching your videos, wishing I was along for the trip.
The unlimited is a beast! Absolutely love mine. I did end up making some diy kydex keel guards for it though. I haven’t had any punctures in the hull but keels get beat up pretty easily and gouged with normal use.
Hey Spencer got a tip use stale corn chips for the fire starter that works as well or better than the Firestarter things and basically free...a few chips will hold a flame for solid 5 minutes
Spencer, Thank you, it’s so enjoyable and entertaining to see and learn you’r fishing techniques. Looked like a nice relaxing place to be fishing on a quiet river, and those catfish nuggets looked delicious.
You're right about us enjoying your longer videos Bauer. You have any idea how many of us take you fishing with us while we're out overnight alone?? A lot I bet. Awesome to hear the flathead flush on the video. That biggun looked like someone rubbed its face in the rocks
I'm the same way with keeping my fish, more so cats. I keep them in that 2-8lb range, anything bigger they flavor profile can change and I feel that if I keep some of the 20-50lb fish I am taking good breeders out of the ecosystem. I remember seeing guys on two specific reservoirs in Missouri literally keeping anything they caught and most were in that larger range. I never understood it.
Blues over Channels for taste is wild to me maybe just from different water but out here in Va most people think channels are better. Sadly there's hardly any left since they released the Blues in our rivers. Another great video, thank you.
Hey Spencer, I have landed roughly a dozen flatheads ranging from 12-36 inches this year. Most of them coming on your 3 way slip bobber technique. Thank you for all your tips
That Big Cat you got would feed me and my wife for a few days .. but yet you look at them AS..NOT TO EAT ... I love your channel.. I just get so HUNGRY watching the nice catfish you catch
Watching this video with the Cubs vs. Dodgers game on in the background. GO CUBS GO!!! I do like the longer videos and I have been going back through and watching the old videos that I have missed. I just had my knee replaced which I can't go fishing so I can at least watch someone fish. I have typed watch A LOT in this comment.
Man those little ones were perfect eaters😀. Thats the size were going to be looking for starting wed thru the weekend. Were gonna freeze a bunch. We are gonna bait a few big ones up on bank poles. We keep up to about twelve pounds and have fun with the biggens. That big one you caught wasnt quite forty from what i could tell. Gonna fish with only my dads old fiberglass rods with zebco 888 reels. He passed couple years ago so tribute to him. Prolly taking a knife to gunfight but he always caught alot on em. Awesome vid and keep your powder dry and your pantry stocked young man 💪😎🙏🏾
Completely with you on the good eating size of fish. I'm not much of a catfisherman, but if and when(and really the only time I do is when my girlfriend wants fish or I'm camping and didn't bring a protein) I eat bass, they're all under 12". Maybe a little over a pound.
Awesome beast flathead ! I have no idea why the bite in my area died. I tried shrimp tonight because of your previous video and caught white perch and sunnies. That’s about it. Oh if you’re wondering if I used the white perch and sunnies as cut bait, no. That’s what I’ve been using. My 3 hot to not spots. Hopefully with the season change it will pick up. I miss those nights where I can only use one rod because the bites were spectacular .
Nice catch Spencer. I learn a lot about cat fishing from your videos. I fish in west coast reservoirs, and a lot of the line setups you use in creeks and rivers also work out here. Appreciate the info. 👍
That’s what I call Super Awesome. I watched Mikca catch some nice blue’s. I’d say both of yaws big fish were around 45 to 50 lbs. That flathead U fried up looked sho nuff Larapin. Great video Spencer
As a bigger dude, I’ve been looking for a yak I can fish and travel a bit of local rivers on. Most to get from my home town to the campground my campers in. Do a little fishing on the way. Give this one a look
Hey Spencer. Well the first Flathead sounded good. Glad you are having a well deserved breakfast. I agree that smaller is better for eating, Looks delicious. Catfish is possibly my favorite even though I live on the coast and fish the Gulf, 95 %ft the time,
When you get to North Alabama, give me a holler and we’ll put the kayaks in duck river reservoir. Big ditch pickles! There’s a few videos on my channel.
I grew up in Upstate New York. They have a Bullhead run in the creeks. They stay in the rocks up there and are really clean. They taste awesome. A lot like channels .
Good evening, Captain Bauer! Love the Flog. Took your advice and limited out again. Thinking about investing in a go pro but was wondering what you edited with?
These are my favorite!

I love the night time noises, while fishing, the crickets, the occasional coyote, and of course the noise of a screaming drag.... Awesome Spence
That big flathead ran like crazy on that light tackle, that’s absolutely amazing. That rod looks like a great bang for the buck!
Thanks for the awesome video, Spencer!

Perfect time for video . Pre Monday night football show
Thanks for letting us tag along! Love the new Kayak, didn't notice any movement at all while you threw the net. Grats. on the big Flathead.

The unlimited is a beast! Absolutely love mine. I did end up making some diy kydex keel guards for it though. I haven’t had any punctures in the hull but keels get beat up pretty easily and gouged with normal use.
I love your videos. You make me laugh all the time, and I've learned a whole lot about catfishing. Great combination!! Keep having fun.

GREAT trip buddy!!! That was a NICE flatty for sure! Best of luck on the next one, and GOD BLESS ALL!!!!👍😊🙏🙏🙏🙏
Cmon Spence, you gotta come up to southern Indiana and check out these flatheads! We got em. Big rivers, little rivers whatever you wanna fish.
Is that the start of a mullet I see? If so, another couple inches and you’ll be rocking a full on Kenny Powers!!! Awesome video dude! As usual!!!
Here I was bummed out about James Earl Jones. I pop in to find a new video. Great timing!
Hope you enjoyed it! Not sure who that is. I'll Google it.
There's nothing wrong with slurping coffee when it's hot
I think that hating mosquitoes is something that all of us can get behind and come together under.

We're definitely on the same page there. Everyone does what suites them, and if it's legal, it's hard to think too much. At least for me anyway.
Blues over Channels for taste is wild to me maybe just from different water but out here in Va most people think channels are better. Sadly there's hardly any left since they released the Blues in our rivers. Another great video, thank you.
Brother your videos put me in my happy place haha.. Great vid as always!
Always fun to go on the trips with you. Thank you. Stay safe
Great job Spencer 💯👏

I felt like it on this trip. Doesn't happen enough. Thank you sir.
Very nice catch on light gear! I know that was fun
That’s what I call Super Awesome. I watched Mikca catch some nice blue’s. I’d say both of yaws big fish were around 45 to 50 lbs. That flathead U fried up looked sho nuff Larapin. Great video Spencer
I need to call Ol Micka. I appreciate the reminder and I'm glad you enjoy both our videos. Micka is a good dude.
Loved the video keep up the great work!
Yes Spencer did get a catfish tattoo that’s awesome 👏
Watching this about to head out, gets me pumped. So excited to see my exact nucanoe on screen and seeing how your tweaked it
That's awesome man. Hope you beat the brakes off of them.
One thing I noticed with Flathead is they taste Amazing the next day cold too. I also keep max 15 lbs. I’m up in the twin cities in Mn
As a bigger dude, I’ve been looking for a yak I can fish and travel a bit of local rivers on. Most to get from my home town to the campground my campers in. Do a little fishing on the way. Give this one a look

I imagine it's a nice change of pace. I have a buddy who mainly fishes for reds and specs and loves it when I fry catfish.
There’s never anything wrong with catfish nuggets too snack on thru out the day … of fishing and enjoying the outdoors !
Nice channel catfish 🐟 Love eating them all 😋
When you get to North Alabama, give me a holler and we’ll put the kayaks in duck river reservoir. Big ditch pickles! There’s a few videos on my channel.
You do my fishing for me, love the videos!
Haha heck ya. Glad ya enjoy them man!
Love how you didn't use that log hawg as the thumbnail. Keeps us guessing! 😎😬
Thanks for the video Spencer. Looks like I need to get me a kayak
You bet man. Be careful, they're a blast!
Biggest tip I can give anyone is clip the fins on the bullheads. Seems to have a huge difference where I fish.
I've tried it an haven't noticed any difference. Interesting you have.
I grew up in Upstate New York. They have a Bullhead run in the creeks. They stay in the rocks up there and are really clean. They taste awesome. A lot like channels .
Hell yeah. Love eating bullheads. Especially outta cool water.
Love them big flathead I'm gonna be on them soon at ky and Barkley lake
Good one Spencer!
Great video man 🔥🔥🔥🎣🎣🎣
Glad you enjoyed it man!
Thanks for the take along!
You bet!
Bullheads are the arch enemy of the flathead as they eat their eggs. Flatheads will eat a bullhead even when they aren’t hungry
Love the channel brother keep doing you its aswsome peace out from Ohio Don T
Good evening, Captain Bauer! Love the Flog. Took your advice and limited out again. Thinking about investing in a go pro but was wondering what you edited with?

Hope you get better soon man. The best fishing is still coming yet, so you got time for sure.
I say about 37 lbs. What a gorgeous flathead! It's a miracle that hook didn't pull out.
That's probably what I would guess if I had too. Definitely a lucky fish all the way around.
