You mentioned several times that women tend to lose their femininity as we age. Would you be willing to do a video explaining this idea more fully? What exactly do you mean, what causes this, how can we offset this issue without necessarily adding in ruffles and bows? I so appreciate your videos and your approach to style.

As a 65 yr old woman who went into menopause in my early 40s, your body tends to change shape & lose waist emphasis. You get a little "boxy" since you get thicker in the middle & your breasts start to sag. You just lose any roundness or curve you once had & it doesn't matter what your weight is. Your bones also compress, especially in your spine & you may lose height as well. I lost an inch. Your shoe size may change & you may need more length & width in your shoes than you once did. I do not like ruffles & bows, but I do like feminine cuts especially in tops & dresses. Curved hems, set in shoulders, dresses & tops that slightly curve in at the waist, wrap styles, etc. Fabrics with a nice drape are always a good option (nothing too stiff) Fit n flare shapes. Princess seams, bust darts, wider waist bands that lay flat, etc. Ponte knit is good for casual wear I have found (the pull on dress pants she mentioned) Almond toed shoes instead of round. It's not tthat difficult 😊 I like a longer top, but it has to hit at high hip, not completely cover my crotch & butt. I never embraced cropped pants & did not understand the whole show off your ankles thing. I personally avoid elbow length sleeves as I find them matronly.

This was great. More of these please. You’re exactly right, we are dressing in these non-modern/unflattering dress formulas and we need solutions/ideas. Thank you 🙏🏽

Love your videos! I am uncomfortable with any tucking, even a baby tuck..I kind of have a tummy and feel like the side view with any kind of front tuck I look poochy…therefore I am guilty of wearing my tops out. I’m 5’8”, not really overweight, just that menopausal midsection. I’d love to see a video on comfort clothes, super casual wear….I am retired and mostly at home except for multitudes of doctor appointments (near end of breast cancer journey) for which I generally wear jeans and a nice top. I’d just love to see a video on budget friendly comfort wear.

Another great vid! The worst combo that any woman can wear is a cropped/Capri pant and a tunic. I have resolved to only by full length or true ankle length pants! You give such great advice, clearly and succinctly! Thank you!

Hi Nada, I struggle with full length pants and where they should be hemmed to suit different shoes such as fashion sneakers (including Converse in this category), loafers, and boots. I frequently feel frumpy in straight pants with my current shoe wardrobe.

Thank you thank you! My issue right now is that I have short, wide calves, and short, wide ankles. Cropped pants and midi hemlines make it ... worse. It's hard to stay looking proportional without resorting to high heels to add some leg length, and I don't want to run around in heels all the time.

Hi Nada, thank you for this video. Im having a problem looking in my closet and knowing what to keep or donate! Although im getting a lot of awesome advice from your videos, I guess im feeling a bit overwhelmed. Body shape, personal style, fashion fit, colours etc. Do I buy black pants if my hair colour is blonde? Can I wear crew necks with a large bust? Arghhhhhhh!

I get that! Take it one step at a time. Focus on colors first, for example, or fit. Once you get comfortable with that, move on. Creating a color palette that suits your coloring can help you determine whether black pants work on you as a blonde, but my guess is that another dark neutral (navy, charcoal or chocolate) will be better. And when possible try to show the collarbone with a large bust and go for a scoop or a V-neck. :) Would love to help you in the Reverse Closet Edit if you think that will be useful for you. nadamanley.com/bootcamp

I'm 52, fit, and dress in classic silhouettes. My issue is shoes. I have bunions and strained foot ligaments from overexcercing throughout the years. I can't wear pointed shoes, heels, or sandals without an ankle strap. It is so discouraging and frustrating to find modern, supportive, comfortable, stylish flats. Help!

Good video. Wouldn’t it be fun if there was a way to show an array of tops, pants, accessories, shoes and try to put the outfits together to see the effects? Wouldn’t it be a great app to photograph your closet and mix and match online by moving the pieces. No need to try them on and off and so much faster like paper dolls .

@susanbrownstein3971 I really like the StyleBook app, but another popular one is Indyx. You can add everything by category: clothes, jewelry, shoes and handbags as well and create all sorts of outfits.

@@hfhodges I was thinking the same thing. Nothing worse than running in and out of a dressing room. What’s the point of buying the trendy item if it’s only good for one season? I do like incorporating the Pantone color of the year, if you love the color. That’s trendy enough for me. Otherwise you end up looking like everyone else.

One thing I get stumped on: not only am I petite (5ft & 128lbs), but also very high waist/short torso. I’ve invested in some nice leather belts for my jeans and a dress, but now find belts look awful on me, amplifying short torso. A half tuck or a shorter top that falls a bit below my waist is my only option, Right?c

    • @denisedorsey2889

I have a similar proportion to you. I find that when I tuck , if I “blouse” the top out a bit over that waist band, I get the proper proportion. It’s only about an inch, but it works. I love those tops that hit at just below the waist, as you have also discovered. Before these became more widely available I would hem the tops I had to get that look. I dread the day that long tops might be the only option!
