This movie has something that today's movies don't have. elaborate action sequences with practical CGI, an edition montage sublime and natural comedy, nothing forced and with excellent scores from the soundtrack. James Cameron is the father of action movies. The action, assembly and editing in his films are on another level.
Sorry, what do you mean by the term "practical CGI"? Those two words mean pretty much opposite things - practical effects are effects that are done on camera, and CGI is posthumously rendered computer-generated imagery. 🙂So I'm pretty sure you meant "practical effects", not CGI.
@@jcp1984again Probably he meant CGI aiding practical effects, like not being prominent. I'm pretty sure the horse on the roof scene shown in this video was composed using a computer.
Yeah and sadly this kind of film could never be done today and there was a sequel planned but 9/11/2001 happened among other parts that today's society can't deal with vs when this movie was first made.
True Lies is the best action/comedy starring Arnold, better than Last Action Hero (which I don't dislike, I just think True Lies is better written). But yeah, right after the first two Terminator movies, Conan, Predator and Total Recall, this one is up there with his best.
I’m sorry bill Paxton (same initials as British petroleum) I’m sorry he died from heart failure however how heartbreaking can anyone be sorry I lost myself dad 4 years back Election Day he was 69 he’ll be missed forevermore forever unconditionally peace people.
This is one of my favourite action movies of all time. I feel like I’m watching an adventure, with Action, Comedy and Outlandish Adventure. It’s a shame there wasn’t a sequel. I only found out about Harrier Jets when I watched that epic scene with Arnold.
I think there might have been a sequel in this but sadly events like 9/11/2001 came along with advances in technology and also PC and woke ideology also came and ruined plans since fans of this before aren't like now and also instead we got a crappy TV series based on this which you can also Google and RUclips about nothing like this film ever could be and really bored to tears by that too.
The planned sequel was canceled after 9/11 by James Cameron himself. Terrorism was no longer funny or something to make jokes or movies about at the time. Also, parts of the draft script closely matched to some of what actually happened on 9/11 and James Cameron knew he could not go through with it and show that to the American Public at the time. Sometimes real life is more important than a movie.
The fact that Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis did many of their stunts, and the fact that most of that shit was practical effect, made True Lies even awesomer than it already is.
Something that the TV series this is based on could never do among others that were okay when this film was made but not now. Yeah someone really thought it was bright to make a TV series based on this and it bombed horribly anyway you can also Google and RUclips that as well.
Also another disappointment and can't be done today along with making a @#$%^ TV series about this as well. Really just Google and RUclips all about it nothing like this I can tell you.
I was lucky enough to have witnessed the entire filming for the rooftop Harrier jet(McDonnell Douglas AV-8B is the the US varient to the British Harrier)sequence as I was constantly in the Capital Bank building at Greenberg Traurig, LLP on the top floors for work. Seemed like it took a month or two to complete. I remember the final scene on the street where the jet “landed” via crane and hearing “that’s a wrap” with a bunch of smoke and Arnold walking from it with his lit cigar and all the cheers…me included. Epic moment. Interesting how I ended up living on Brickell Bay Drive not that long along and still don’t shut up about it
Holy crap, I've watched this movie a hundred times for a decade but only last year I noticed that Simon is Paxton! Should've known, he's in all Cameron movies.
The greatest chase scene of any kind. Cars, boats, planes, etc. A horse rider coming after a motorcycle through a hotel. Gives the French Connection a run for its money.
True lies is a really good movie (But Predator will always remain my favourite Arnold movie) I think just a little underrated, but it's really good that it is a lot popular now. But when James Cameron and Arnold pair up to make a movie, they knock it out of the park. It's also pretty cool to see Jamie Lee Curtis paired up with Arnold too. I never really thought they would make good casting together, but when I saw the movie, they did a really good job. Fun fact when John McTiernan and Stan Winston were making Predator's design Stan Winston got a bit of inspiration from James Cameron. But anyways, this is a really good action comedy that I could really love to watch a lot of times
This is really an expanded trailer for the movie with press junket interview clips. It reminds me of modern action movies, super quick cuts that give away very little of the story.
HousSam LaBiod no, great movies should be left alone. Look at star wars and terminator. Don't ask for sequels or you'll get what you asked for and it'll be disappointing
Houssam: Yes! True Lies 2-The Taskers! Harry and Helen's next mission! And when Dana turned 18, she could've joined in the fruckus! Espionage is a family business!
Glad I scrolled after searching “true lies end credits” since amc’s PAID streaming service sped them up and I couldn’t hear more the amazing score!!! How does the movie NOT have a physical release with bonus features!? Thank you for uploading this!
Age eh? Bummer. I'm sure you will look equally as "terrible", at least from a younger persons perspective, as you try to contain your historical lust. I'm not complaining, but I think Tia should be allowed to age - without being ridiculed. I just don't understand why character assassinations even take place to be honest.
I think that's the Lightstorm Entertainment jingle, composed by Brad Fiedel and conducted by Shirley Walker. I love that quick piece ! The logo and jingle was introduced in July 1980 but it didn't happened until 15 years later in September 1994 when Lightstorm began to open doors to produce and finance many projects with its jingle and logo such as "True Lies," "Strange Days," "Titanic," "Solaris," and "Avatar." The company continues to make every project that gives what audiences and fans want & need. Based on the Fox lot in Hollywood, California, USA.
I enjoyed this movie ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! 😃 The entire cast was PERFECT ! ! ! ! ! !! It had the right amount of action and comedy, mixed in one movie ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I lived in FL at the time of filming and remember seeing the hanging aircraft from the crane as we walked on the boardwalk (iirc) at the beach one day.
Jim Cameron is right about Arnold being great at everything in any movie. And also if the actor is not great, then the movie isn’t great which is so true to life. What makes a movie work other than the script, and director and all, is the actor who’s right for the part and does his work well. Bravo to Jim Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger for giving us terminator 1 and 2 and true lies. Perfect cinema.
Great movie probably a movie I can watch over and over and never get sick of definitely one of the last great action films too!! Sad to say that it took place in 1994 but it's true...
Mike Lykan. They were thinking about it after Titanic , then 911 happened and Cameron decided they couldnt make fun of terrorism anymore. And that was the end of it really. Pity as it could have been great.

The screenplay is a blast, so embarrassing and honest about cheating, I think Cameron wrote it as kind of an apology to then wife Hamilton.

Tom Arnold stole every scene he was in big props as well to Bill Paxton for being the comic relief.

Anna Maria Tom Arnold was the weakest link in the casting chain. Now, Bill Paxton on the other hand, was great.

This was back before James Cameron would eventually distance himself from this film. It's a shame we can't even get a Blu-Ray release of this.
Same with The Abyss.

James cameron the best, this movie is amazing.

The making of True Lies, where they spend more time showing clips from other Cameron movies than showing how True lies was made. What a waste.
