the reason of the blur at the bottom of the picture can be because the lens is not aligned with the sensor, maybe you should have put two pieces of ir filter not one to provide a flat and parallel surface for the lens. Thanks anyway
So for night video if you were to use an infrared illuminator will you be able to film in complete darkness ? I assume it wouldn’t be pink but b/w🤷🏼♂️
Yes you are exactly correct. It is a very easy way to do this. I made a video with another camera where I did exactly this. ruclips.net/video/VFmh7Gb-5Tw/видео.html
well there must be something on missing because I can't see the advantage of removing that filter now that everything is just pink what does this mean and why would you do it
The Canon ae1 is a film camera. You need to get IR sensitive film like ilford sfx for blacka and white, or aerchrome for color infared. Thenz you need an IR lens filter
i think this blur has nothing to do with scratch this looks like a angled lens that piece u put back in is angling lens to one side this half of it ending up blurred , what u need to do is add two pieces to both sides so lens sits back in correct angle
It is possible but it won't be cheap because filter lenses that block all light but UV can be over 200 dollars. Of course depending on the size of lens. For this size camera you would need a UV passing filter for a telescope. That would cost less but very hard to find.

Thanks! That would probably work.

@Tristen Nasir happy to help xD
* THANKS * SUPERRRRRRRRR..............!
You're welcome!

It is for the reason to make unique photos without the need of VFX.
Now use a dicyanin lens to see demons
It's no longer listed on amazon. Could I do the same process with the newer model, 20.1 MP one on Amazon? Can't post the link unfortunately
It is possible, especially if you see an IR cut filter reflecting in the lens.
I have a cannon ae-1 I'd like to do this with. Do you know if there's anything I can do with the lense or even a new lense I can buy
Looking at that model of camera, I see it looks like you would need to remove the IR cut filter on the sensor of the camera.

Probably. I would have to try that. Thanks!
Great
Thank you!!
Why couldnt you just use a drill bit the size of the lens hole and put lens back in?
A drill is not needed and it would make too much debris on the sensor.
So is it basically now a night vision camera that gives better Clarity accept being pink
ugh scratched mine too. be really careful
Oh no! It is very tricky.
How can I convert a cheap camera to an UV only camera?
It is possible but it won't be cheap because filter lenses that block all light but UV can be over 200 dollars. Of course depending on the size of lens. For this size camera you would need a UV passing filter for a telescope. That would cost less but very hard to find.
