  • In 2008, photographer Platon Antoniou’s assignment for New Yorker magazine, “Service”, explored the human cost of conflict. In this presentation for the World Economic Forum, Platon explains how his photography changed the course of the 2008 presidential election: an image of a Muslim woman grieving the loss of her US soldier son was cited by Colin Powell as having prompted him to support Barack Obama, to show his opposition to anti-Muslim rhetoric among some Republicans.
