    • @kathykraut4491
      @kathykraut4491 2 года назад +29

      Because they are building bunk beds for kids extra safety needs to be considered. The curtains would be a suffocation/strangulation hazard.

    Amazing job! And for your boys to watch the whole process and even participate here and there is probably pretty impactful for them I imagine. Maybe one of them will be inspired to try wood working or carpentry later. Great trade skills to have even as just a hobby. Plus this is a cool memory of childhood to have. Well done, dad! 👏👏👏 AND the beds look great!

    Very space efficient, looks great and well executed. Main concern is managing heavy mattresses/bed making and changing the linens for the upper bunks. There is also the issue of lighting for each child to read at night in a way that doesn’t wake the others.

    • @prudence4762

      Really that is not an issue kids enjoy having bunk beds they dont think of all that, my kids have bunk beds and they enjoy it so much

    • @kin2naruto
      @kin2naruto 2 года назад +3

      Beds are for sleeping - desks/armchairs are for reading. Teaches good sleep habits to NOT read in bed. Expecially after lights out. If an older child has a later bedtime - it's not hard to slip into bed without waking sleepers.

    • @purplepixie274
      @purplepixie274 2 года назад +2

      There's lights on each but don't know if they have separate lights, can get battery reading lights . Mattresses aren't always that heavy and with fitted sheets, older children on top can do themselves

    • @meadarkangel

    Looks good, but just in case anyone else is going to build something similar, it’s ok to use screws when framing but realize they have low shear strength which is why nails are used. So I’d definitely add a few so you don’t hear a crash in the middle of the night and walk into a step bros situation.

      The mattresses look so light weight with a ladder they can come down to floor level and changed. Also, kids up on top should be old enough to maneuver that bendable mattress to put sheets on and smooth a guilt. My SIL gave her boys sleeping bags that were used on top of the fitted sheet. Easy to roll up and wash. Every few years as they outgrew the character she got them new ones. Cost $20 each, used for 2-4 years before replacing.

    While the new one is alright... I kind of like the old one more. It had that real wood look (I don't know why is there war on wood and wood-like texture and colours) and the curved boards which I really like. I actually wish I could add those on my very boring mid-century modern bed. However I hope there will be some videos where bland minimalist cabinet gets mouldings or something like that.

    “Little Johnny and his wife had four kids and 1 room for the kids to share but the room was not spacious enough for studying and all four kids always fought for space so little Johnny reworked the room by getting galvanized score steel and borrowed screws from his aunt and covered it with eco friendly wood veneer. He added mattress for each bunk Then added soft cushioning along the walls to ensure a good sleep. He then added wood rails to make sure the kids do not fall while sleeping, and finally he added little drawers for clothes and stinky socks by the space under the two bunk beds”
    (I HAD TO OK- THE INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS WON)
