Thanks for the great Q Gabe! It really got me thinking about setting it up for live 😊 🙏 I appreciate it man! I should have give you a credit on the video! Completely slipped my mind! Apologies. Btw, I didn't realise that they had included an update in the latest firmware (v1.0.4) that adds the ability to change the global I/O Settings so that you can turn off the Cab/IR blocks either for the left or right outputs. However, they haven't included the ability to turn off the Cab/IR for lets say the unbalanced out and leave the Cab/IR on for the balanced so that you can run a dry stereo signal into a stereo power amp and two cabs (or tow FRFR speakers) and the wet to front of house. Maybe they will add it in a future update as that would be helpful. Have an awesome day.
Hello Jay, loved the video and helped a lot. Do you know how to record mic or voice (i have a microphone connected with xlr) but logic does not read it. Can you help me out? Thanks!!
Hey dude, I think that might be possible now because of the firmware updates. It would be worth checking with Hotone what the routing options are as I can't recall. Drop them an email and they will be able to help 😊 Have an awesome day!
Jay, nice one great video!! I noticed in the recently released 1.04 firmware update for this unit it now has 'No Cab function added (Global > I/O'.. does this mean you can switch off and cab/IR in that particular out put, so you can go straight to power amp and cab, therefore freeing up some much needed extra DSP?
Thanks so much for the heads up about that! I installed the updated firmware and it has kinda made my video redundant! 😂 The function to turn off the cab for left and right outputs independently is certainly there now and works (I tried it this morning). It doesnt however seem to have the ability to assign cab/IR to the balanced outputs (for lets say front of house) and the unbalanced outputs without cab/IR so you can run into an FRFR or poweramp/cab. I think they missed a trick here. Maybe they can add it in a future firmware update. Have an awesome day and thanks again for letting me know!
@@jayguitar Thanks for this video. I think you're right that the new firmware is only half a solution, as you can only turn off the cab or IR's for all outputs (although you could turn it off for L or R and route the signal the way you want it (say the signal with cab / IR to the L output, and the one without to the R output). I tried this and it works, the only issue is if you play with headphones, one side sounds horrible because it lacks the cab / IR. Another option is not to use the no cab setting (as in your video) and route the one to FOH to the balanced outputs and the one without cab / IR to the unbalanced, you won't necessarily need to go to the FX send out. Also: to use less DSP you could put reverb delay before the split, so you wouldn't need to have duplicates. And one more thing: I think if you want to use an FRFR for stage monitoring, you want to send a signal with cab / IR to your speaker, otherwise it will sound pretty bad. I think you would only want to skip cab / IR if you're using a regular power amp + guitar cab. Anyway, thanks for the video, very useful, you have a very laidback and friendly style which makes it fun to watch. Keep it up!
@@hanspietervansteincallenfe6655 Thanks man! I appreciate the additional info! Yeah the cab off option in the menu kinda works - hopefully I can feed that back to them and they can fix it to a better solution. Good point about the FRFR sound and also the effects! I didn’t even think of that - it would make sense. My ‘studio’ brain was on when doing the setup - I always add the effects after the cab when recording. Thanks again and have an awesome day!
Hi mate great videos...can it not be set up so that all presets/scenes have a cabinet on the xlr outs..to front of house and no cabinet on the jack outputs?..that wld leave the fx loop free to use for other pedals

Thats a great Q - it would be pretty easy to set up. Either send the XLR or jack outputs to the FOH mixer. They should be able to sort you out with a monitor mix from there so you can hear your sound whilst playing live. Hope that helps. Have an awesome day!
Welcome and thank for the sub! In all honesty I can't recall all the settings - details will be on the video or in the manual for the unit 🙏 Have an awesome day!
Hi, I am noob at guitar gears, hence my query might seem Silly. Could anyone tell me whether we can use the stage as a guitar and vocal processor at the same time. As in, use it like the tc helicon play electric.
Hey dude, yes it can be used that way - you can set up a parallel signal so that one chain of effects is for vocals and the other is for guitar, and then you can route them to different outputs so that you can have guitar and vocals together. Hope that helps. Have an awesome day!
@@jayguitar thank you so much mam. Ordering one right away. It's actually very hard to come across hotone users in my locality. Everyone using either a line 6 or axe fx. Your answer has helped me to finalise my purchase. Getting the stage right away. Thanks once again
Yes, you can! Sometimes when I play live the sound engineer wants me to send two guitar signals: one from the amp mic’ed and other using a direct box. What I do with my Ampero 2 stomp is sending one signal with IR to the direct box and other to the amp without it. To do that you just need to go to the global settings and choose the option “no cab” (or IR) to the output that is going to an amplifier.
This is the reason why i wont buy this for now. My ideal chain is, comp-wah-od-trem-amp-chorus-reverb-delay-(output to poweramp here)-cabinet-(output xlr to foh). With fm3, i can really do this, my foh out is stereo (because stereo cab block), and my power amp out is mono (summed at the output). I can also split the signal just after amp block and duplicate the effects for mono power amp out, while moving my effects after the cabinet block to get a better tone at the foh. With my mooer ge300 i can do the first chain but the cab block is mono though, and to make it stereo at the foh, i have to split it after the amp block, but i cant have effects for my poweramp out. But the main point is i can move both output anywhere i want. Disabling cab only at the left output, like some modeller do, is not going to do much as the foh is still mono. Kemper has a function which you can do whatever chain you like and disabling the cab at the monitor outs, achieving the same goal. With the ampero stage, i can only either do a mono split with one output have the cab disabled (like valeton), or split it in the middle but my poweramp out don't have effects like I'm doing with my mooer now. The reason for this is when i gig, i want they to take my xlr out but when i practice, i just want to hear from the cabinet speakers. So my suggestion to hotone is, have the ability to to this Y to AB split, but can be split anywhere in the chain so that i can use more effects in my chain before i split it to poweramp and foh output.
Signal split done as I thought it had to with the Ampero 2’s, which is utter crap. You are loosing the abilty to add additional fx pre IR and it steal resources by using double up post fx on a unit that already is starved. It should be a native feature to turn of IR on either output, like it is in many other pedals of this kind. Might as well just get the Stomp and 4 cable it with a preamp pedal that does separate outputs without the need of doubling paths or get one of the more original multi fx pedals that cost a tad more.
I hear you about the set up - they have updated the firmware and it is possible to switch off the IR/CAB to the outputs but its not perfect in how it works. Hopefully they will update the firmware again and improve it 🙏 Have an awesome day!
About duplicating effects/using resources: couldn't he just put the IR block at the end of chain A and split right before ir (after the delay and reverb)? What would be the cons of doing it that way?
@@JoeBaermann Not sure what you are talking about, you can freely move the position of the split node in Chain A (tested it myself on firmware V1.1.0, maybe it was not so on previous firmwares). Using the example he showed in the video, you can easily put the IR block as the last in chain A, have DRV, AMP, DLY and RVB blocks before it in Chain A and put the split node between RVB and IR blocks. This way you'd have no blocks used on Chain B and no duplication of fx/blocks (and the desired effect of having the same tone as Chain A minus the IR block). Sure, you're limited to just the 5 blocks in Chain A doing it this way, but with the example shown in this video it could be done without duplicating blocks.
