Feeling good in your body makes wardrobe less important - this is a gold wisdom. While I love good clothes, we can not forget about self care and that being healthy, happy, fulfilled makes us look our best.
It does not matter what I am wearing if I am not on my personal best “shape”, nothing really stands out. that is why we fall in love with inspo images.
The self-care tip is so good! I remember a close friend asked me how I pull off a white tee, jeans and sneakers and it still looks like an "outfit". Besides making sure even basic pieces fit my body well, if I'm going out I'll take 10min to do my hair, put on some minimal makeup and choose some dainty jewelry. It makes a world of a difference!
This sweater you are wearing slightly off the shoulder is absolutely beautiful! It brightens you up so much! I am just coming from over shopping and accumulating a LOT of clothing. I’m talking bins and bins out in my garage full of clothing per spring/summer and fall/winter. I probably have enough to comfortably clothe five women - all seasons. Then surprise! I’m pregnant with baby number three, which we did not plan on at all! But it has been happy and wonderful all together. And I am now learning to truly put a stop to my shopping. It’s actually been the best thing for me in many ways. I brought everything inside and started going through and finding the clothing that fits more oversized and could accommodate for a growing abdomen and hips. I took all those things aside and put away everything that fits very comfortably now for after baby and I’m just working with things that can accommodate. Now, with that pile of things that can accommodate, I am going through it to weed out excess. The unfortunate thing is, though, is that I have managed to thrift really beautiful, and wonderful quality clothing. So it’s been very difficult to justify getting rid of really good clothing. It’s a process and I’m not rushing it, but I must reduce how much I have because storage has become stressful. One nice perk though is that when I feel like shopping, I simply go through my bins of things that I can wear right now. Thank you for sharing with us and creating this content. It is truly helpful!
Curious..who are your style icons!? My criteria for my clothes is comfortable, mom proof (easy to clean), and makes me feel good when I look in the mirror. I love all of your tips. 😊❤
Great advice. But for me it works the other way round, too. The clothes I wear can make or break the day for me, if I feel good in my body or not. In my case, I often don't 'allow' myself to wear my nicest clothes.
Thank you, Melli, for pointing out that you often don't allow yourself to wear your nicest clothes. That really got me thinking... I find this true as well. I'm pretty low maintenance, but I DO want to look good and put together. I tend to bypass the nicer pieces thinking I should save them for a good or more dressy occasion. But #1, I buy most of my clothes at the thrift, so they only cost a few dollars, and #2, I live a pretty casual lifestyle, so I'm saving that pretty top for WHAT, a time that may never come? I also sometimes think I will be overdressed for the occasion. But really, who cares? If I want to wear a cute skirt and blouse and everyone else is in jeans and t-shirt, isn't that just my style? And shouldn't I just own it? Yes. Absolutely. Thank you for the encouragement to dress for yourself. And P.S., I have already curated my wardrobe, so everything already fits, is comfy, washes well, and I truly like.
@@user-zu9ew4ii9d Yay, let's do this together. I've been trying recently and it really makes a difference in my mood. What helped me the most here on RUclips is the concept of the 10 item wardrobe (The Daily Connoisseur).
Fashion influencers that I follow? Do people do that? Seriously, I haven't been to Instagram or Facebook in a long time. No great loss. I just wear what I feel good in, and that includes being comfortable, but not being sloppy. We put so much effort (and money!) into being 'stylish' when we're pretty much the only ones who care about our apparel when we are out and about. That's because those people we come into contact with are mostly only concerned about THEY look, kind of like a mirror reflection of us!
That's not entirely true. How you dress, how you present yourself to the world, influences how people treat you. It's always been that way and always will be.

@@rebeccaalves4796 so true
It’s really helpful questioning what your icon would think of your items. Helps to think objectively.❤
Glad that's helpful!

Elin, for someone who has your illness you look beautiful and radiant in this video. What did you do, I wanna know?
What brand is your sweater? I’ve been on the hunt for that style that’s drapey/flowy 😊

What is you find something you love and then buy one in each color???
