It was a pleasure to get the chance to share Hansa Teutonica with you, so soon after I had just discovered it in late 2023! Hope to play with you again at a future con.
Only ever been to GenCon. Always play Obsession on 20 turn side; agree that with 2 players need to use a variant to churn market or Upstairs Downstairs introduces servants that give abilities to find specific rooms.
Sounds fun!! With Obsession, there are two variations (I recommend): Emily Brontë or Queen Victoriana that churn the market more. There are also variants (all this is in the back of the glossary) that RU-veal the courtship cards at varying stages during the courtship phase. Also, play on BSG; Dan has said that Upstairs, Downstairs completes the game. It is an essential expansion. Glad you had fun. I bet you'll have more fun with these variants and with the expansion(s).
Oh nice, yeah churning the market was probably my biggest thing everything else was quite lovely
I ALWAYS use these two variations with Obsession. Glad that I'm not the only one.
I miss Geekway!
That's it. I have to return the license plate. LOL
For our first Con, it was SOOOO much fun! Your B-roll makes me wish I could turn back time to do it all over again... but alas, we have to wait for next year. In all, I played 11 games, 10 of which were new to me, and 6 of those were on my SoS. As you mentioned, a learning game of Obsession was a great way to end the show, and it was an absolute pleasure meeting you Chris!
You too buddy, hope we can do it again next year :)
I checked to see where you are right now, and I didn't see anything posted ... I am disappointed :( :P
Oh, I've blocked you from that tier ;)
@@RoomandBoardReviews Haven't blocked me yet!
What!! 😢
I'll save a seat for you, for 'City of the Great Machine' for next year! :)
I wanted to swing by and see it! Alas!
I see that Spicify behind you 🌶️
The market has variant rules that are practically standard for cycling through the market.
My issue with practically standard variants is that they're not the standard way to learn, and if they're practically standard you then have to have a worse play to get to the fix.
@@RoomandBoardReviews This is where BGA comes in. I've played Obsession on BGA a lot, to the point where I got a little burned out on it. But there, implementing the market churn variants is as simple as selecting the one you want from the appropriate pull-down menu. Let me know if you want to play it sometime. Without a doubt, the market can get stagnant without some way to move tiles out that just aren't in demand. A market churn is practically standard at this point, though having no market churn does force you to adapt new strategies.
In Obsession, I'm pretty sure you can spend prestige points to refresh the Market.
You can but it's such a waste, and you're just benefitting your opponents since you'd buy first and when the market is refreshed it's refreshed so the worse options are cheaper
At any time during your turn you can spend 4 prestige points to clear the market and refill it from the bag.
@@marksteffen1992 yes, hence the waste
Southern fried gaming please 🙏
Nice shirt...nice hat...nice human. 😘
But what about canvas, Chris!? Was anybody playing it?
Never heard of that game!
@@RoomandBoardReviews what?! Unacceptable. Will just have to trek it over to Toronto and bring all the Canvas to you.
Good video....but for me I would prefer less time spent explaining the games (been done many times before), but describe how the play went....what strategy you used, what did you like/not like, how did you do....I know I prefer to hear about experiences more than just a summary of the game. Just my 2 cents.
