  • Beautiful Iris vocalizes to us all that she is on her way in! She knows something = her hubby has a fish! We see her land then do a quick inventory check for any possible nestovers. Alas, there are not any such tidbits to be found there.
However! Finnegan was seen on Owl Pole Cam, flying to Iris' tree at about 12:10:24 and yes, he had a fish!
We are reminded where her son Antali gets his ideas! =D Iris devotedly and relentlessly fish-called for a good long time. Finally, it all paid off bec we see her fabulous mate Finnegan fly on in to share his fish w/his wife.
So he delivered the fish to her at about 12:20:59 meaning he only fed from his fish for about ten minutes. Whatta guy he is, huh? 'Luv him SO much! 'Luv 'em all!
Note this unusual moment: Finn comes in, Iris takes the fish, she had it in her talons and then? I was amazed bec she choose instead, to take the fish off the nest via carrying it w/her beak! We don't see that very often! =D
Handsome Finn then putters about their nest for a lil' bit, tidying up, feaking his beak, looking around. Watch what he does after picking up a piece of bark then going to put it elsewhere! Cracks me up when he does that! Laying down on the nest and pushing w/his feet just tickles me! He is working hard to aerate their nest. He's the best - best mate, best father and I just know you agree! Iris got herself a true gem in him as he got blessed right back!
We know the call of the wild will take them all away from our views soon and still, I do not want to think about that! I'm happy for them all - of course! - but yes, we know we will miss them all dearly. What a blessing to have such an intimate view into their daily lives as we have via these cams!
    Re Migration
~Historically, from 2012-2023 - Iris has taken her leave anywhere from 9/4 to 9/17. So she is due to take off any day now...
~Traditionally w/osprey: the father will remain to keep on feeding their young 'uns. At some point, "the kids" will take off, not together, as none of them will stay together. After their offspring head off, then the father will finally take his leave as well.
    ~Thank you for watching!
