  • Some clips I've thrown together, featuring the best sounds I recorded at this years Classic TT at the Manx GP Isle of Man. There's MV Agusta triple, Paton 500, Honda 4, Yamaha TZ750, Gilera 500 & various others. Listen as a bike leaps over Ballacrye in the distance, as the Mighty MV storms into Braddan, & then out again! There's a lot of empty screen, just sounds in the distance, so don't watch if you want to see, otherwise TURN THE SOUND UP!
& there's a short bat aerobatic show interlude at around 7 mins, too!
If you want to hear the Norton Rotary parade lap go here -

I remember when Graham Walker used to commentate on the TT he used to say here comes the Guzzi V8 or whatever was racing you were able to hear it coming in the distance then passing and going into the distance that’s what communication is all about

There's no wonder the Manx is taking over from the TT proper - this takes you back to the TT's greatest years, the era when Hailwood and Ago - riders who could race and win on roads and circuits - on proper race bikes with proper sounding engines and exhausts, to the time when you could hear the bikes coming fro ages and know by the sound who it probably was. These bikes may be replicas but they're not far short of what they were and to be ridden in anger is how they should be ridden. Excellent stuff, thank you for posting.

Thanks so much for posting this great video! By far, it's the best one that has the actual sounds of what racing was like before silencers were required. Now when I try to explain how it used to be, I can send people a link so they understand what it was like back then. I was at the TT in 2015, but i wish I'd gone to the Manx to see - and hear - these classic bikes. The best part is that almost all of them were being ridden "for real" and not just cruising at speed. Nice!

Wonderful! Thank goodness there's people like you around who just appreciate sheer class & realise there's no need for back-cloth gimmicks when superbly-engineered machines send their decibels down those exhaust pipes! Stood immediately behind Hailwood's Honda 6 when fired up at Mallory Park's 1964 Race of the Year. Big mistake. At Mallory Park's 1964 Race of the year, standing on the footbridge to the paddock during practice, Agostini on the MV3 and Hailwood on the Honda6 passed beneath me. Back around 1963, both Phil Read and Derek Minter on those "revived" 1957 Gilera4s, passed underneath me on the footbridge approaching Clearways. The Gileras were at the 1964 ROTY too.
I have watched Motor Sport since the days of Fangio and Moss in the original Silver Arrows. To my ears, no other racing machine sounds as good as those 1950-60s GP Machines when ridden as they were designed for.
Youngsters today simply will never experience the beautiful noises made by those old GP Bikes in competition.

Captain Sparkles.. opps forgot the THE... Your humble vid (some clips you have thrown together !!) to me is pure mature motorbike porn.. mmmmmm oh yes.. OH YESSSS.. opppss :(OK. Now I have had a cold shower... Cap S... superb vid. Took me back to my youth as a naïve 17yo on the IoM and a few years more before marriage kinda cramped my style/life... as in no more TT's :( Wish someone could go back in time and record the IoM races/sounds of "my era" using todays technology.

Désolé, je ne connais pas à fond le circuit : ça se passe où ?
J'adore : on entend le loup sortir de la forêt !... Et, tout d'un coup, il est là !
Sorry, I don't know the circuit enough : what place is it ?
Great : I can hear the wolf roaring while getting out the forest and then : he is there!
Always liked motorbikes... Some said I'd better drive or ride... not. Ever.
    So.

@@CaptainSparkle Thank you, Captain... I have somewhere (Cool, I just found it back!) the book by Ted Mac Auley and Mike Hailwood himself: we have a map of the circuit. I can see Braddan Bridge.
When I first read the book in the 70s, I had no idea that the TT was some kind of "tour de Man": this map explained me many details of the whole story... I still like the "gaelic" (?) names: "Creg-ny-Baa", "Cronk-ny-Mona", "Cronk-Y-Voddy", "Kerrowmoar", "Ballaspur" (sounds like an indian princess...), and of course "Ballaugh Bridge" or "Sarah's Cottage"...
Internet will help me to see it all.
Thanks for the the images, the sounds, and answers!
