    Azula looked a little more unhinged than usual in that opening:

  • @AshleysAdvice
    @AshleysAdvice Месяц назад +5

    There has been a theory floating around for a while, on this episode specifically, because it's been made clear in other episodes that characters like Azula pay very close attention to our main gang, knowing most of their names, even using that to torment people such as Sokka in the eclipse episode about Suzuki. However Zuko doesn't really pay as much attention, you'll notice that in the first episode he joined the group, when he introduces himself and says "Zuko here" it's kind of implied that he is wanting them to introduce themselves as well so he can finally learn their names and get to know them, but nobody says their name instead they just get mad at him so he has to learn their names well talking to them and slightly slip their name into conversation the next time after he's heard it, you'll notice that he actually does this with Katara as an example, while her name has been mentioned before it's sort of implied that he didn't learn it and it's actually in this episode that he does, when confronting Sokka listen to what he actually says. He says "your sister hates me" to which then Sokka replies "Katara doesn't hate anyone" and then after that Zuko then refers to her as Katara saying "I think Katara has directed her anger about that at to her anger about me". This shows that he is good at slipping people's names in the conversation and the question is how often has he done this once he's learnt a name, then using it the next time he talks about that person. I found this really interesting and while I'm not totally sure if it's true, it makes a lot of sense given his character character, he was so focused on hunting the avatar and his friends, that he never actually got to know them as individual people, even when he was trapped with Qatar for that short period of time in embarrassing say, he never actually learned her name. For the first few seasons he refers to Aang as the avatar, which is even more proof, he doesn't refer to him by name until later on when talking to him, because if he learnt the avatar name then it would become more personal whereas just referring to him as the avatar allows him to be focused on his goal of hunting the avatar not hunt Aang but you notice after they become friends he refers to him by name, which also happens with everybody else as well, like when he was bonding Sokka in the previous episode, it's unclear at which point he learnt everybody else's names or how early into the show he learned them, but I think it's safe to say that it's at least been this final season for most people, because before that he didn't know who they were and doesn't seem to pay as much attention to that kind of thing until he actually joins their group and is kind of forced to get to know them. So it makes sense that he wouldn't know Qatar's name until this episode when it's brought up again and he's in a one-on-one situation where he's just having a normal conversation Sokka about her, then hearing her name without any other noises or distractions he's able to take that in and then say it when continuing the conversation, which I think is pretty clever of the writers if this is true, it also kinda makes it funny when you think about it.

    • @lasseehrenreich5502
      @lasseehrenreich5502 Месяц назад +2

      I love the idea of zuko the whole time he was hunting aang was too blinded by his anger and destination to learn any of their names but at the end of the western air temple when aang ask the rest of the group for their opinion on zuko joining to them he says all their names and I think Zukp will listen at that time but otherwise it's a really good theory

    • @AshleysAdvice
      @AshleysAdvice Месяц назад +1

      @@lasseehrenreich5502 That's what I mean, I think it's funnier if he doesn't actually know their names, I also think it kind of fits with his character the more you think about it that's why I said I think that is actually true because it would make sense and I don't think it's about a formal thing because he doesn't do that with anyone else why would he just do it with her in that one moment like he doesn't do it any other time he doesn't even give her a name when he talks to her the rest of the time he doesn't say like your sister he just doesn't say anything when he talks to her Notice if you rewatch that whole episode the way he talks to her and about her until he learns her name it's kind of funny and weird and again this is just a theory so that's why I'm saying like it might not be true but I'm just saying it'd be really funny if it is true and it would kind of fit with his character cause remember he's really awkward and weird and he kinda like doesn't really know how to talk to people or to girls and especially in that episode where he introduces himself like think about that episode and how he acts like around them and he like rehearses what he's gonna say to them and like all of that kind of stuff like I feel like that would totally fit with his character like he's so anxious in that moment that instead of listening to them introduce themselves and say their names he is just so panicked like they don't actually introduce themselves but they do mention their names or I think Aang says everybody's names, but maybe Zuko in that episode in that moment when he's doing it because he's rehearsed his speech and because he's like overthinking everything there's a chance that he just missed all of that and then has to learn everybody's names through interactions with them, I also think like I said it fits with his character because it plays into his awkwardness that we've seen from season two when he was walking around those different towns and stuff, again I don't know it's just a theory so it doesn't really matter either way but I just thought it would be funny if that were true.

    Oh this episode is awesome - I love how Zuku and Katara bond in this episode - to see this dark, vengeful side of her - the character that always has been the most warm and compassionate of them - just feels wrong - how she used blood bending the one thing she swore to never do - the sheer look of horror in her eyes when she realizes it wasn’t the right person - Katara essentially has 3 choices about what to do with Yon Rha: kill him to take her vengeance against him, forgive him as Aang said she should do, or what she ended up doing spare him, to live the rest of his life as a perfetic monster he is but remaining hateful of him the rest of her days. No matter what she chose the result would have been the same, her mother would have remained dead. Some people say she was being unreasonable aggressive against Zuku but that’s the point - when she saw the good in Zuku and tried to heal him he betrayed them which nearly lead to Aang’s death - if she had healed Zuku and as we saw with Jet she holds grudges - and even she admitted it and was willing to forgive Zuku in the end of the episode. I do kind of wish she had apologized for saying to Sokka that he didn’t love their mother as much as her but otherwise I think it’s great - all of this was incredible heavy so on a more fun note Jake the Dog is going to appear next episode - to anyone who understand this reference you have earned my respect.
