From the moment of his diagnosis, it became a grueling ordeal as Dave underwent over 30 excruciating chemotherapy sessions in hopes of beating his cancer. Viewers witness up close the physical and mental toll the treatments took, as Dave lost his hair and struggled with debilitating side effects. But they also see the emotional devastation - from watching his appearance change drastically to lonely nights coping with relentless pain.
Amidst the darkness, however, little glimmers of hope and comfort emerged. Dave found solace in an unexpected act of kindness from a nurse, who brought him a meal that lifted his soul. This small joy planted seeds that would later blossom into reconnecting with his greatest passion - cooking. In a truly inspiring moment, viewers learn how Dave channeled his strength into writing a cookbook with Si, finding a purpose that got him through his darkest hours.
Even after chemotherapy ended, Dave's recovery proved an immense battle as he worked to relearn basic tasks that were suddenly beyond him. The video intimately captures his grit and determination on the difficult road back. Through it all, support from loved ones who become like family is what keeps Dave going during his lowest moments.
By sharing his unflinchingly honest journey, Dave aims to provide a ray of hope for others also facing tough diagnoses. Join Dave on his courageous fight that reminds us life's greatest gifts are what we too often take for granted.

You can do it Dave...in August 2004 aged 47 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a mastectomy in Sept I was overdosed with an excess of chemotherapy drug on my 1st treatment due to an initial miscalculation of my BMI. Within hours of receving this I was blue-lighted back into hospital. I was lucky...they feared theyd damaged my pancreas. My breast nurse told me all this the next day. THIS WAS OMMITED from my hospt records...we all know why! Just after my 3rd chemo my darling husband died at 4am in my arms..sudden anyurism. I was sooo ill and dibiliated from chemo I stopped after 5 sessions. I went on to have 6 weeks daily radiotherapy whilst in a fog of grief...Im still here...continue the Fight...Life is Sweet..the Human Spirit Strong..God Bless you ❤😊
Oh my god how awful for you, I'm so sorry. I wish you well

Stay positive Dave, we love you and Si.
Hugs to you both and your families ❤.
My husband is a biker and fan of your cooking shows , he recently has been diagnosed with prostate cancer at 58 yrs old , he was angry at first as why he had developed this disease as no male family members had previously been diagnosed with cancer , this is why we need more money for research to find out why some people get cancer and others don’t , my husband was inspired by some of the people he met whilst having therapy at cancer clinic at freeman hospital Newcastle , you have to be positive and let the people at hospitals do their stuff to get you sorted , don’t let the dark veil smother you because some days are tough , but you have to be strong so you can have happy memories and give happy memories to other people because they are feeling your pain in a different way , He found it good to talk to people about his diagnosis and thinks that cancer should not be a taboo subject , the more people know about the disease the better it can be understood and treated , focus on getting stronger and you will be superbike fit again
God bless you keep getting stronger ❤
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your loved ones🙏
Keep strong Dave ,millions are praying for you best wishes

Hi Dave - you are an inspiration my friend.
Side information - My dad (85 years old and on his bike at the time!) Bumped into 'you two' at a remote mobile bike cafe in the Pennines. He cheekily said to you both - "What are you doing at *my* butty bar"! All laughed.
He's an avid follower of your show and remains so even being over 88 now. He even went for his pacemaker update with the NHS on his bike - the consultant was utterly shocked!
Looking great. Hope to see you back on the screens soon. The smile is still there!

No matter whether you’re going through a cancer or a long term illness or recovering from surgery, loosing your appetite is one of the hardest things to combat and when you feel constantly nauseous or actually being sick it’s so hard to eat. And let’s face it hospital food, no matter how hard they try it’s never that appetising. Food is so important not just as fuel for our body , keeping our bowels etc working but it gives us a sense of comfort too. We “eat first with our eyes” so the food presented to us must look visually appealing and nourishing, a plate of greyish mash with mushy vegetables and nondescript looking meat is nt going to make some one feel like they want to eat. Give the same patient a plate of freshly steamed vegetables with some stir fried chicken for instance a meal which has vibrant colours and looks fresh and tasty is far more likely to make you want to eat and actually enjoy it. And it doesn’t need to be huge meals, there’s nothing worse with being given a plate of food piled high and told to “eat it all up it will help you feel better and stronger “…. Speaking from experience it actually makes my stomach shut down and almost physically refuse food, instead a small plate and small portion maybe just two or three mouthfuls can be more than enough and then maybe an hour later the same again….l remember recovery is a marathon not a sprint!
RIP 🪦
Dave Myers

There are so many cancer patients in the west.
I live in Eastern Europe. You don’t find these numbers here.
I really wonder why??🤷♂️
DITTO. All the love in the world 😀😀😀
Dave, just take one day at a time. The chemotherapy drugs are very toxic and they need to be to kill the disease. It is bound to take its toll on your body. With the right support your body will regain all its strength and you will be well again. Good luck.
Still handsome dave,I want to see that gorgeous moustache back and your wonderful wardrobe ,a proper dandyxxx

@@FactsVerseUK let’s discuss Davos . What are they up to?
I'm sceptical about cancer tests it's as if they want too find something that might not actually be there. I've recently retired & in the last 6 years the health system just wants to take many tests, I have decided not too take part thanks all the same, the survival rate of cancer treatment is very poor as it's a very aggressive attack on your body.
@@stephenboyd4934Not true i have survived it twice.
Dates never talking in this bullshit.
I hate these robot RUclipss
