We used MWC K and 1st, and we just started 2nd grade MWC this week. My son by the end of first had a lot of the math facts taught “memorized” but not 100% I am okay with that. He is thriving and enjoying math. If he gets stuck we just bring the manipulative back out. I have been thinking of buying the right start math game set. It’s the games they use in their lessons in one big book. I am thinking of playing a game or two a week just to keep building those math skills.

Oh thank you for sharing! That’s really helpful! I’m not always sure where they “should” be so that’s really helpful to hear where others are too. I’ll have to look into the right start math game!

We take the same approach. I’m not worried about fact mastery. I let my kids move forward as long as they fully understand the concept and can carry it out on their own. My four year old is in week 13 of MWC 1 and can do his worksheets independently. He knows a lot of his facts, but uses manipulatives for the ones he doesn’t.

Currently using MWC 1 with my first grader and he doesn’t have all his addition facts memorized yet. He knows some of the simple ones but is still working on a lot of them. I think level two works on them again also.
But also she has a neat book called Addition and Subtraction facts that stick that I am thinking about getting for extra practice to solidly the facts.
I don’t believe MWC starts multiplication until level 3. But not 100% sure on that.
Glad to hear pregnancy is going well over all. What are you having???
I know it’s terrible but I lived off hot dogs my last pregnancy because it ya the only thing that helped my nausea.🤪

Oh thanks for sharing! That’s super helpful to hear where other kids are at lol and I’m going to look into the addition and subtraction facts book for the summer if I think he needs it.
And thank you!! We’re having another boy! And I hear you on the hot dog thing haha there’s something about hot dogs during pregnancy 🤣

Kate Snow has the Addition Facts that Stick book that I have seen on her website. I don’t know anything about it, but it might be good practice if he needs more during the summer

I feel the same way about science I will be ordering the new science from TGTB bones and stones. It’s looks impressive and something that will capture my kids attention compared to the previous ones!

Oh that’s fun!! I really want to finish the first one in the series because part of me really likes how they kept going with the series!

do any homeschooling at home after co op? My son has only three classes and my daughter two . We come home around 1230 eat lunch and we are all drained from that day so right now we don't. I still count it as a full school day though in my schedule

If it makes you feel better about math… we did actually do MWC Level K and half of MWC 1st grade and my son still wasn’t “getting” addition, always having to like think about it with his facts. I felt the same way like he was behind. I realized that maybe all the games in MWC wasn’t being cemented in as actual math in his head lol So we switched to a more straightforward math program (CLE math) and in just one month he has improved SO much, especially with memorizing facts!! Something to think about, hope that helps!

Oh that’s really interesting to hear, thanks for sharing! I do sometimes wonder if the games help him connect the math fact or not. I’m really glad that they also have lots of practice with them in the workbook too.
