That lurching, horrible feeling in your stomach, heart, and other assorted organs when you see that the boss that's been demolishing you for 2 hours is going into a cutscene... You DESPERATELY hope that its just opening a new path or something... And then it happens. "Wait."
Just gonna paste this lore I thought of and placed in Malenia's wiki section here. It is possible that during her fight with Radahn in order to unleash her scarlet rot, she threw away her pride and broke the unalloyed gold needle in her body. In the trailer we see her not only stab Radahn but also herself, aimed at the needle inside her body. Given that the rot had been held back by the needle for so long, her first bloom was the most powerful. So powerful that it completely changed Caelid and broke Radahn who was at the epicenter. That broken needle is what we find which was likely salvaged by commander O'Neil (we assume he was part of Malenia's forces). Malenia "was fled" by Finlay back to the Haligtree and since the needle is broken and no longer within her body, her rot continued to seep out causing her to bloom for the second time, corrupting the Haligtree in the process (potentially killing/endangering Finlay eventually as we do manage to get her as Spirit Ashes). Without Miquella to create a new unalloyed gold needle she can no longer resist the call of the scarlet rot... So she slept... waiting for his return trying to hold back the rot on her own. Moving and fighting helps her keep the rot away which kinda translates to her lifesteal.

And out of those 5, the second time i got her to second phase i beat her

@@JB-pz6rt Try practicing her parry timing, she usually spams parriable attacks so getting 3 parries in a row to riposte isn't that bad and can make the fight a lot more manageable
Lore-wise, this is the third and final time it blooms, and thus Malenia becomes a true goddess. Her line is absolutely bone-chilling when you realise she is basically telling you "Finally now there's nothing holding me back, you'll be the first to witness the absolute monster I can be now that I'm free to go all out".

First, the item description speak of the third blooming as something that WILL happen, not that you got it after her third blooming. Second, if that was some anticlimactic unmentioned random blooming, she would have been a god in her fight from the get-go for phase two. But alas, she was a demigod in the same state Radahn left her in as you entered the boss room (AKA her first blooming). Without too many spoilers, even the boss kill message acknowledges her as a demigod you just killed. Next, if that flower is her awaiting her second blooming, what impostor did we find in her boss room? Finally, if she somehow died a god against every known thing in this game, what in the shattering is that last bloom we left her in? *_Fourth bloom_* super saiyan 2 turbo double god: electric boogaloo?
After 39 attempts... I didn't knew of the second phase, I manage to stay away from the internet to prevent myself from knowing this. The moment I beat her I saw the cutscene starting... I started crying
I never played this game but masochist mode mutant boss (modded terraria) is the hardest thing I ever did. That boss took me 583 attempts to beat. And I literally started crying after beating that.

Having five Soulsborne games under my belt prepared me to always expect a second phase on bosses, but she was pushing my shit in so hard for so long, that against my better judgement, I thought it was over after I depleted that health bar. I've heard plenty of characters say stuff like "I will show you the meaning of pain/fear/whatever", but when Malenia said "You will witness true horror", it was the first time I felt actual dread. And this music is amazing. It's easy to say this when you know what the boss is like, but it does feel like appropriate music for something that's beautiful and awe-inspiring, but also a terrifying force of nature.
"Okay, so I can prevent you-know-who from doing self-immolation by offering myself to the Frenzied Flame instead. And then defy its will with this 'Miquella's Needle' thing so I don't burn the world? Okay, no prob. Heyo Three Fingers, let's do this thing!" I. Regret. Everything.
Everyone's talking about the first few lines of her mini-monologue, but the part that REALLY impacted me the most was her last two words. "Now, *_rot_*." She is _done with your shit_ , and she wants you dead _now_ . It doesn't matter how it happens, just that it does, and it shows. The voice actress did a phenomenal job imbuing the 'rot' with so much vitriol and spite.
Reminds me of Fortissax’s theme. Epic intro, then the music becomes somewhat sad 😞 I feel bad for so many of the bosses I’ve killed lol but what Malenia says when she dies hit me the hardest. “Dearest Miquella… I’m sorry… I finally met my match”

This music transmits many emotions, it is an intense mixture of epicity, the choir is majestic showing that you are facing a very powerful boss, but it also transmits great sadness, the violin chords show the tragedy that Malenia suffered throughout her life, she born afflicted by the scarlet rot and despite being very powerful the rot is almost completely consumed her. Despite her enormous power, this power was of no use to her because she failed in all her objectives, she could not finish the war, she could not kill Radahn and, moreover, she was forced to unleash the rot destroying all of Caelid only to disable Radahn, condemning to all her enemies, allies and all those who inhabited the area, sadly with this she was one of the ones who contributed the most to the devastation of the Shattering and the end she could not gain control of the elden ring, then she returned afflicted by the rot only to find that her Miquella's dear brother was kidnapped and she has no trace of him... We find her alone in Elphael Brace of the Haligtree contemplating with pain and loneliness the place where her dear brother was, alone empty, with no one around to relieve her pain... Maybe That's the only thing we can help with, maybe by finally defeating her she can rest and have peace.
Rush Assignment is one of the best tracks on this OST hands down. Whenever it pops up in a PVP match, I swear it automatically adds 20% to the sweat factor
Just noticed how it sounds so similar to dark souls 3 main theme. Mainly halfway through song you notice little bits of parts from the dark souls 3 main theme.
Very nice of them to time the first and third loud notes with the timing you're supposed to dodge the downward dunk of the big orange flower and the explosion of it.
