Spinning cotton on a Tahkli spindle

This is how I spin cotton on a Tahkli spindle. Spindle from Malcolm Fielding.

There are different spellings, both Tahkli and Takhli occur. Tahkli seems to be the most common spelling, but I didn't know this when I made the video. Hence the different spellings in the video and blog post.

The (modern) spindle in the video comes from The spindle shop. John Galen also makes modern tahkli spindles. If you want more traditional tahklis I suggest you look for Indian makers.
