We moved to Chapel Hill in 2020 from Northern VA. We thought that it would be quite different than the highly populated area we came from. Now 3 years later, we are running away to another state. Why? Let me tell you.
First, there is SOOOO much new construction EVERYWHERE! Pretty much all of the affordable housing (apartment complexes) are in the process of being torn down to put up elaborate over priced apartment complexes for the new wave of people making their way to Chapel Hill from EVERYWHERE! Not to mention the 2, 3, and 400 dollar price jump that happened in the last 2 years. There are all of these big named (not going to name them ) I.T. companies, and new Electric Car factories being built in Chapel Hill as well. This means MORE TRAFFIC! While most people would say, "what's wrong with that?", I am here to explain. Where we work, we have lost many employees who just cannot afford to live anywhere but in affordable housing. Some had to leave the state entirely, some had to move back in with family, and some had to change their entire lifestyle of living alone, to live with roommates, or move farther out, meaning a longer commute, which in turn means spending more on gas. It is a LOSE/LOSE.
We are living in a very nice area, so I am not complaining because of my situation. It is what I see. More traffic, crazier drivers, and crowded areas EVERYWHERE! Example... if you like Trader Joe's, good luck friends! If you aren't there early, you might have a hard time finding parking. And please do be careful walking across streets, because NO ONE likes to respect STOP SIGNS.
I don't want to discourage anyone from moving here at all. I loved the time I have spent here for the most part. It is just becoming where we left part 2, and we are looking for a place a lot more quiet, away from the crazy hustle and bustle of College Kids, and 15 Minute City type settings. Not for us, might be for you. My advice... visit for a weekend first before deciding to make a whole move. We got here before the explosion of growth, so now it's time to leave the chaos behind.
Thank you Chapel Hill for your hospitality.

There is a lot of new construction in so many areas now. I can't believe the change I've seen here in the last 6 years. What state did you decide to relocate to?

To fix the brightness, adjust the ISO on your camera. Turn wayyyy down. And maybe add a separate ND filter you put on the lens if that's not enough. Just a tip!
