Love your candor and insights on all the various towns. I started my house hunting journey in Durham, Chapel Hill and Carrboro in May 2022. I looked in many of the towns you mentioned. I am now in Winston Salem and I love it up here in the Triad. It has art, hiking trails and parks, majestic trees, terrific bird watching spots, wonderful topography for quick easel day painting, fab Thrift and Antique stores, good food, and best of all, super friendly people! I am a native Californian who lived in cities and burbs up and down the state, from beaches to the Redwoods. I am here to find a quaint abode to call my own, for the next chapter of my life. Your videos are always insightful, and for newcomers, eye opening on many levels. This market has been brutal for a first time buyer, ( not going to candy coat it), but I have learned so much and feel confident my dream place is out there. Thank you for sharing with all of us! Cheers to You!!
So glad you enjoyed it!! Let me know if there’s anything I can help with!!
Good job Ellen! I always enjoy your videos. Thank you!
Thank you, Grace!! 😀
I absolutely adore you 😊 Good work.. I like this format… Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!! 😀
Thank you for this. 😊
You’re welcome!
Angier now has a steakhouse and an Irish bar, has had a taphouse a bot outside town, Texas bbq, and Lillington is getting a wine shop in a matter of days
Probably my favorite video you've done. Love it! As someone in Pittsboro. My top would be the homie feeling of a town where you know everyone and having big lots of beautiful homes for much cheaper. The downside is 20 min drives to get to most things.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! Yeah Pittsboro is super cute! :)
Loved this video. I would love this subject for my new podcast lol.
What is your podcast about?
@@EllenPitts I’ve only released one episode so far and I want to talk about so much so a bunch of randomness at the moment lol
Best of luck with it!! It does take some trial and error to find your voice for sure. Go back and look at my first few videos of you want some inspiration and a big laugh! 😂 they were terrible 😂 😂
Have been watching your videos for a few years now. Really love this format!
A possible idea 💡 for your next video: where would you take visiting guests to show off the “must see” local pearls of the triangle (and possibly farther in NC)?
Aw thank you so much!! I’m so glad you enjoy the channel!
That is a great idea!! I’ll see what I can do!
Ellen, Can you show me a house in Wake Forest around 5:00 any day of the week will work . Thank you
😂🤣🤣
Would love some down to earth views that would include which areas would cover young families vs middle aged singles and couples that might be on the verge of splittg up
Lewisburg, PA, is a cool college town, but in winter it's downright cold.
Really, really good video Ellen. A lot of valuable insight! We moved to the area from out of state and think it’s awesome (❤️ Bass Lake). There are so many things I adore about NC - the topography is picturesque and the old architecture is charming, but by far my biggest dislike/disappointment is that all the water features I’ve seen appear brown instead of blue or green. It’s one major thing I wasn’t prepared for. I’m sure it has to do with sediment concentrations or something but no one ever mentions it in their videos. Overall, I think the Raleigh suburbs are some of the best places in the country to live.
Yeah I guess the water is a little murky here! 🤪I’m from the south so I didn’t realize lakes are clear in other places. It honestly never occurred to me.
WHAT is up with no basements!!!!
I think it’s the water table. We do have them in some homes but they are rare. About 10% of properties will have walkout basements
Is there a reason the houses don't have basements?
Well we do have basements but they are rare. I think it’s because of the water table because we only have walkout basements. We see them in about 10% of homes here, so you can find them it’s just hard.
Do another one.
My wife is a native Southerner. Says Cary is "biege". We love Durham to death but for various reasons it won't happen for us
What’s the point of all the nice trails if there are copperheads everywhere
There aren’t copperheads everywhere. We do have copperheads but it’s not like a plague. You can easily walk trails without being accosted. I wouldn’t go wandering through deep leaves in warm weather. But trails are fine.
There are two kinds of people -- those who think there are two kinds of people, and those who disagree.
Haha
Ellen, we need to give you a better tour of actual Raleigh! 🙂
@John Let’s do it!! Email me we will schedule it. Ellen.pitts@compass.com
There’s also the possibility that I’m nerdy and boring 😂😂
