watching this series during quarantine. watching the raptors, sixers, and bucks last year was watching a changing of the guard in the nba as far as style of play. well is it a change or change back. looking back i didn't remember how close the bucks were to winning the series. the bucks definitely could hav-e won this series and were capable of winning the nba title. those 3 teams (bucks, sixers and raptors) turned back the clock on the game by having huge dominant frontcourts. the raptors would have beaten the warriors at full strength. too many easy baskets inside. too long and athletic defensively. lots body types to guard both steph and durant and they force the warriors play big the whole game. what those 3 teams and now many others are doing is playing 5 out around the perimeter like the "small ball" teams but with all the big long bodies in the game and functioning well. the raptors were huge 6-7 leonard, 6-9 siakim, 7-0 ibaka and 7-0 gasol and an all star point guard in lowry. all 3 huge guys shoot and play well outside but all 4 of them (including kawhi) end up at the rim and get a lot of stickbacks and dunks and drawing fouls. so you have to match them size wise. they still have great guards and backups. they play the same game as the small ball teams but still get all the benefits of being big as hell
If GSW were fully healthy, no, the Raptors wouldn't have won - not even close. Series would've been over in 5 as Toronto wouldn't be able to handle KD, Steph, and Klay, with at least two of those open in positions to take (and make) easy 3s. Even a GSW team that was on life support still almost beat Toronto, and would've brought it to Game 7 had Klay not gone down in the final two minutes (we all knew they were going to win that game as Klay was on a mission that night and the Raps had no answer to him that game).
@@deplorablesteve819 i agree with that possibility but i think the injuries were a result of the 5 straight finals run and due to the brutal wear and tear. so unfortunately and unfairly the injuries are part of the game. i also think a lot of the bigger better eastern teams gave GSW trouble all year. the warriors best team was with durant and draymon at 4 and 5. that puts a lot of punishment on those guys if the bigger 4/5 on the other team try to score. i think that was wearing them down long term. if GSW goes big and plays a non scoring 5 it totally evens out the offensive firepower of the teams. in my opinion a big big injury was cousins going down, he allowed the warriors to stay big like in the bogut years i also think the underrated factor was paying durant and the other main guys put a tough hit on that long bench that the early GSW teams had and wore down the stars over the long year.
@@deplorablesteve819 It is funny that you ask how Toronto would have handle KD, Steph, and Klay, yeah it is funny to look the picture in one side only, but how about the other one? Let us put it that way. How GSW would have handle KL, PS, Lowry, Gasol, Green, FVV, Ibaka, Powell McCaw, and Boucher? Secondly, sport is mental, it is more difficult to play vs an injured team than playing vs the starters; vs the starters it is another preparation and as a competitor you are ready for it. Study how Raptors overcame a full Bucks team which was the best in the league so far, and you will understand what this Raptors team really is.
Ibaka was 9th on Toronto and Gasol 5th in minutes played, was too easy to switch them onto curry or klay in a pick and roll and cross them up for a 3 pointers. Their size advantage clearly wasn't enough to create an overall advantage for the Raptors. Throw a healthy Durant in the mix and there's not much of a chance of the Raptors winning.
Raptors would have beaten GS even if they had KD that are facts. The series should have ended 4-1 but a couple late misplays gave GS that game on a platter. The Raptors made no mistake clearing out game 6. People like you underrate that Raptors squad by so much it's pretty funny.
