    Thank you for labeling the trail you were on. My son and I spent a few days there feb ‘24 on an ‘08 tundra on 3” lift and 35’s. Great job

    Had a great time there a few weeks ago. Went with 7 ither rigs and stayed at Boots Off as well. We hit about 80% of the park and only left a handful of trails untouched. We are going back this weekend and welcoming the new year there with a slightly smaller group this time. We all got memberships for the remainder of this year and all of next year.

    I look forward to checking this place out! Heading back north east from San Antone, and excited to visit. I too will be solo, so don’t want to go do anything too crazy. Did you camp there?

    I'll be going out there in a group trip at the end of November. Hopefully I'm able to do the green trails. I have a stock 2012 ram 1500 4x4 single cab short bed. I thought the green trails would be super easy but you seem to be getting close to scraping in some areas.

    • @TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad
      @TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad  Год назад

      You should be good on the green trails (be smart, as long as it’s dry). The blue trails will depend on your rig setup.

    Your video inspired me to give it a run a few weeks ago. We did almost all the greens and the Back 40 Short before getting too warm and deciding to climb out. All in a 2021 stock (with recovery hitch, which saved my bacon).

    I think I’m gonna try to go with my 22 rcsb f150 4x4. New to off-roading stuff and this isn’t too far from dfw. I think my stock height and 33s should be fine. Great video! Thank you.

      VR4 has a lot of dips that might catch you on length. Tighten up that rear bumper and have fun!

    Your build sheet shows you have 265/65 R18 tires on OEM wheels. Question: does a full-size spare fit underneath? Thanks in advance, @TX:GX!

    • @TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad
      @TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad  Год назад +1

      At 265/65 R18 with Falken Wildpeaks - yes it fits. Each tire in that size range has a different actual diameter so can only speak for the Falkens.

      I didn't get to run that trail but the guys in the Lexus LX (in the video) had run it the day before and said they enjoyed it. What's it like? Will have to try it next time!

      @@TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad That trail is tight and tests your breakover, entry and departure angles very well. nothing rocky though just hard pack dirt and loose dirt of course.

      Thanks for watching and commenting! There are several DFW and Texas based GX groups - most of them on Facebook. Try GXOR-TX or GXOR-NTX as a good starting point. There have been a few meetups but with Covid most regular meetups have been postponed. Hopefully that changes soon!!!

    Awesome! I lived out in Amarillo for a couple of years and never knew about Merus, will definitely put it on my visit list. Question, did you fit some kind of aftermarket armor to protect the underside now that you removed some factory panels during the CBI covert install?

    • @TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad
      @TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad  2 года назад

      You don’t lose any coverage based on the CBI bumper install. I don’t have full protection underneath but need it (especially after getting high sided this weekend at Wolf Caves!) there are some companies that make them for the GX460.

    SUCH a good video!! I have a bone stock GX460. You think it could handle the green trails in this park? The website says stock vehicles should be okay, but your video report makes me pause. Thoughts?
    PS Love the channel!

    • @TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad
      @TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad  2 года назад +2

      Hey thanks really appreciate the comments! I think you should be fine on the green trails. AT tires would help but I think you’ll be fine if things are dry. Merus 101 should be good and fun - just recommend using low gear up and down in the drop in segment, a steep loose pitch. The greens on top of the canyon are no problem at all.
      With a stock GX460 you’ll mostly want to watch your approach angle so you don’t hit the low hanging front bumper and breakover to make sure you don’t scrape on your running boards. The first 50-75% of Round About will be fine - just watch for washouts. I would recommend Start up top and then go down Merus 101.

  • @pillowpants69er

    I've read that when you lift the gx460, to get it to track right down the highways and give you the "effortless" drive that the gx460 is know for, you'll need to replace the upper control arms? Can you speak to this? I appreciate any insight you have. Thanks!

    • @TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad
      @TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad  2 года назад

      Depends on tire size and lift. I didn’t have to replace UCAs because my tires are under 33” and lift under 2.5”. Above 33” and/or above 2.5” lift and you may need new UCAs and a differential drop.
