- I had the chance to go back and watch Bleach Movie 1 Memories of Nobody recently. I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun I had with this movie. Ichigo meets a mysterious shinigami called Senna, together they are up against the strange group called the Dark Ones, led by the exiled Ganryu.
Check out my thoughts on the first Bleach movie, in a series of movie overviews where I will be covering all of the Bleach movies. Stay tuned for my Diamond Dust Rebellion, Fade to Black and Hell Verse videos in the coming weeks.

Who remembers Dattebayo Fansubs? Boomers?
Coomers?
Like yesterday i will never forget downloading new episodes on Limewire. Good times lol
...I'm 30+ and I know for a fact my grandparents were boomers. They're dead too. They don't remember shit. This meme needs to die too.
yo dude this movie is canon in manga the valley of screams is mentioned:
A Valley of Screams can also be modified by individuals with certain powers, such as Fullbringers. At the behest of Kisuke Urahara, Riruka Dokugamine used her ability to insert and remove anything into and from an object she likes to place a small Valley of Screams into a box, and Yukio Hans Vorarlberna used his power of manipulating space with electrical power to shape it into a room and rails; this created a quick method of transportation between areas, achieved by marking a location with a stake to determine where the Valley of Screams will travel. This modified Valley of Screams even managed to enter the Royal Realm, a feat usually impossible unless one has an Ōken. It also allows for stealthy travel, as those riding in it do not need to exert any Reiatsu.
freedustin 0-100 real quick, it’s just a meme chill out you fucking boomer
Senna slowly disappearing, and Ichigo kneeling down in defeat still hit hard to this day.
Shit broke my heart
Not really defeated, more like acceptance. Ichigo respected Senna's decision to stabilize both realms, and as her life energy was fading, all he could do was honor Senna's final wish: finding her gravesite to prove that she did exist.
Yes I Chico being upset about a girl he hardly knew for the literal fucking 5th time sooooooooooooo crazy
What if he forgot
Senna is still one of the best female characters in Bleach.
Both...have good points. A like from both.
Agreed
Red [Decimo] she looks like rukia and rejis daughter
She was very well written.
You spelled Yoruichi wrong, mate
In the scene where ichigo tells senna her name was on the gravestone is underrated, in my opinion
He may have lied in her final moments, but he did so to let her feel like she existed and real to everyone.
Fun Fact, the Movie is Cannon
In the Can’t Fear Your Own World it is stated that the world Ichigo goes to safe Senna exist, and even in the novel, they mention the Clan that got banished and that Clan was one of the Noble clans (like Byakuya’s and Yoruichi)
wrong , Valley of sreams is cannon not the movie
Dark one clan
It's probably best to think of it as the broad strokes & overarching plot of the movie is canon, because if you try to get into the details, it doesn't really fit any timeline.
What chapter is it mentioned in? Don’t remember that detail at all.
Yeah all in all with that manga scene I'm pretty sure Kubo was canonizing Memories of Nobody, or at least a similar timeline-friendly version of the events. Feels like kind of a stretch to say Kubo intended for Ichigo to have had some other unseen journey to the same place from the movie that was never brought up before or ever again. Occam's Razor and all.
Bro I still cry at that ending every time. Senna, despite being around for so short a time, really felt like a part of the cast and the world and her earnest desire to belong hits me different.
Will always love this movie for the story even if I like the battles in the other movies more.
The fucking TEARS!
when senna started to fade no joke .. i cry and when the ending song by aqua timez sen no yoru wo koete started playing... just picture a babys first cry.... thats me
That shit hit me hard the first time I watched it on [adult swim] all those years ago.
Memories of nobody is my favorite Bleach movie
You have good taste, and you have the H E A R T
@@DBZimran If I have to rank the Bleach movies on my my personal enjoyment it would be:
1. Memoriese Of Nobody
2. Hell Verse
3. Fade To Black
4. The Diamond Dust Rebellion
Movie 1 and 2 are the best in plot
3 and 4 are garbage, terrible plot, and im a person who gives 0 shit to animations
Same. Better than Fade to Black and DiamondDust, Hell Verse is my 2nd favorite of the 4.
I don't normally watch movies for long running shonen since they tend to be rather...eh. At best. But darnit the whole 'person who was never supposed to exist' trope is a favorite of mine. I love me my Nobodies and Xion. So I think I'll give this one a watch. It seems up my alley in that regard. Thanks for talking about it because I probably never would have looked into myself!
Did you like it? Also shoutout to kingdom hearts! 358/2 days is my favorite.
So past many months after you watched it, what are your thoughts of the movie? And the character?
Dude I remember buying this movie, and I still have it after all these years.
Same
Same here 2.🤗
This was the first anime movie I watched with an ending that made me cry. Just a little.
And I still think senna is best girl.
A man of culture I see.
I love and hate the bonds they build on ppl to instantly drop or kill off, really really sad
It makes it all the more impactful.
I know. I really like the Dark Ones and hoped they’d come back in some form to defy the oppression of the Soul Society.
This was always a fun movie and when I saw it the ending moved me.
It was nice.
I remember like 4 years ago I watched all the movies and I saw reviews which had this as the worst one due to it not having the same level of action as the others and I was like I’m in the minority who thought this was best one. So this video makes me happy good job
That's because these people were literal brainlets who can't be satisfied with something unless it's packed with lots of flashy combat. Memories of Nobody is a thinking man's movie.
I mean it doesn’t bother me as when it comes to battle series like bleach action being good is important but I’ve always preferred a great story over a great fight and this movie had by far the best story. I did enjoy the second ones story though but thats cause I really like Toshio Hitsugai and watching Kenpachi tackle the main villain of a cliff after transforming into a intimidating dragon will always make me laugh
This movie was my favorite because it captured the *heart* of the series.
To me Bleach was about more than just the crazy fights. If it wasn't for the loveable or interesting characters the fights would have meant nothing.
@@Tank207 People say naruto and one piece backstories are sadder and tragic i agree but their backstories are very unrealistic, Bleach character's backstories are realistic like ichigo loosing his mother and him getting ptsd, like rukia loosing kaien shiba, Renji losing all his friends and eventually rukia and how he tries to meet rukia again through hardwork
Orihime's backstory is straight up dark, Her parents left her and her brother, her brother died, a distant aunt gives her money, she has to manage everything on her own, she lives alone
Chad's backstory is also sadder than others
@@kakashihatake6052 Really good point. Bleach is the most realistic of the Top 3. Naruto and OP are just too exaggerated. But not gonna lie, some of OP and this movie here hit me the hardest, because they wer simpler and much more emotional first. But I found Bleach much more relatable all the time.
This was the first Anime movie I ever saw in theaters back in 2006 or 2007 in LA. I remember there being cosplayers in the audience which was really surreal for me as this was my first time seeing them outside of anime con photos. I also always though this movie was way better than it had any right to be given that it was a shonen anime flick. Senna's story was incredibly bittersweet and the ending had me tearing up specially when the Aqua Timez song kicked in. I think the only downfall is that it's a little hard to recommend it to people because you have to be more than a bit familiar with Bleach lore, otherwise I'd say it's not just a good Bleach movie, but a good anime movie.
I need yo profile pic
You should do Bleach: Fade to black next
Those are the fade to black and memorize nobody are the best compered to the other two moveis
Hell Verse is mostly good for it fight while the other one i literally cannot remember anything beside that one Getsuga Tenshou scene near the beginning at the two Yin Yang girl
two are story base and two are fighting base lol
@@hikarihakai1285 movei 2 tryed to ne more story base if u ask me
@@lureyourpery5569 but the story just isn't good enough for me to remember anything even though i watch it last out of the 4 movie
i just remember certain fight scene and that is all
@@hikarihakai1285 it's called the diamond dust rebellion. It's about one of toshiros friends exacting revenge bc toshiro became the most powerful ice zanpakuto wielder. They had to fight to the death in front of central 46 and Toshiro won. But toshiro is feeling the big sad after that
Let's be honest we ALL remember this movie for that ending aqua timez song 😭😭😭
Memories of Nobody is probably my favorite anime filler movie, and its almost entirely due to Senna. Actually, I think the Bleach anime writers had a pretty good handle the series, since they managed to churn out pretty good filler in my opinion (except the abysmally princess arc of course). They never were quite able to get that goofy tone right though.
Man, this movie is a distant memory for me! Loved the analysis, and your synopsis of it refreshed my memory wonderfully! I'm definitely gunna watch it again soon.
I also really love the "day in the life" parts of it. I'd still kill for a Bleach spinoff that is just the whole crew doing regular day to day stuff. 😂
Senna was one of my favorite characters she felt so real an kinda a potential love interest for Ichigo
I agree with everything u said n
Honestly i found something worth learning, inspiring, emotion evoking
even with the fillers that people so dread... so these are movies we are talking about ...and tht are
beautiful regardless of their flaws and i m glad someones talking about it now...
And filler/canon/or non canon it doesnt matter as long as its good ans gives you something worth learning from..despite having flaws instead of just focusing on em
Thanks a lot for making this video.😊
In actuality Bleach's timelines work on a multiversal scale (since the Dangai is in fact the manifestation of the Soul King's Almighty which was revealed in Can't Fear Your Own World light novel), the first movie is canon with in the main manga timeline (which was also hinted in the CFYOW LN)
@@cosmicking993 oh i didnt know that part but you should tell dbzimran bout it tho i do agree with everythiing that i remember
he said as in his opinion like movie being good despite lot of other anime movies like dragon ball z etc,how it evokes emotions
for the female mc due to her circumstace, existence as a group of memories, sacrifice etc
even tho rest of the story goes similar to other plots with there being a main villian etc which is then defeated by mc.
(dont remember for sure
for sure as to what exact words were said cuz super sleepy due to allnighter here n
im forgetful anyway so correct me if im wrong n i ll try n put it approx) not the facts (70-30%,80-20% sure or unsure with varying %
depending on topic,source,execution,reasoning etc) eg.whether
somethings canon or not cuz i wouldnt know whether somethings canon or not till ve checked/already know it/someone told me(u did now so ty)..
Tho again to me it being thought n emotion evoking, inspiring or good is enough for me canon or not yet
its good to have more detailed convo on an anime that i like to talk about than just usual "its good or bad reactions without detailed cases in beetween"...
So if u ever wanna talk about series i ll b there to talk..tho youtubes got no dms but since i got insta
Yeah thats cool and all but when are we getting CHAD the movie?
Chad is too chad to have a chad movie made about how chad he is
@@hikarihakai1285 omg the chadness is real
Since he is into boxing we could have a movie that's just one big soul society parody of Rocky

The first movie isn't canon, it doesn't fit anywhere in the timeline, only the valley of scream is canon
@@simpgod2170 It literally takes place after the Soul Society arc inbetween the first & second arrancar invasion
@@cosmicking993 so why didn't ichigo use his mask, and ifbge didn't have it yet wouldn't white have tried to take him over in the movie?
@@simpgod2170 the first invasion was with Ulqiorra & Yammy the second invasion was with Grimmjow long before his hollow training you're thinking about the third invasion

Senna was also in Heat the Soul 6, an amazing bleach game
She was also in Heat the Soul 7. Any major filler or movie character made it. The Dark Ones never managed to get a spot. That's how forgetable they are.
The abridged version was also amazing
True
The singing was the best
"Stranger Danger"
It's interesting how Kubo (sometimes) makes filler stuff "canon", like how he used the design of Shunshui's zanpaktou "Katen Kyoukotsu" from the filler sword arc in the final arc as Shunshui's bankai, _*he also mentions the valley of screams and Ichigo says he has been there but doesn't remember how he knows of the place*_. Also i'm sure that in the CFYOW novel the Valley of Screams is a legit place and they also mention Ganryu's clan. So yeah i guess it's all legit.
He always directly or indirectly contribute to Filler so it easy to understand why he does that, especially movie, novel etc he gave other enough material for them to make a story and he gave them full authorities to make any story they wanted. And many filler stuff is things that he wanted to include into the story but haven't have the chance to do :))
He also designed the zanpakuto spirits for the filler arc
Yeah I think it's cool how Kubo does that and is also a reason I really like the Bleach universe, it's also why I like the movie Memories of Nobody.
@@chrispeterson3362 sad thing that sogyo no kotowari(ukitake's spirit) died l, they were cute.

bleach had the best character designs out of the big 3,it had the most epic artstyle, and had a cooler MC
one piece imo has the most lovable MC,the best supporting crew, has a better mystery and theories (i.e who wore the giant straw hat,who is joy boy and what does the D stand for)
naruto had the better story,a more relatable MC,a better message, the best sad moments (i.e jiraiyas death and naruto v sasuke) the best choriographics (dunno how to spell sue me)better fight scenes, and better at telling thier stories through fighting (i.e kakashi v obito)

Another phenomenal review! Bleach means a lot to me it's helped me understand and accept so many horrible situations in my life. It's a story that deserves so much more appraise but isnt without its faults. Overall it's sad how people have viewed the bleach series as a whole to be a failure. I'm glad someone like you who can see the things that i see out of this wonderful story has posted such amazingly well put together videos on it! I look forward to more content! That notification bell has definitely been rung after seeing a few of your past videos!
I remember really liking this movie, but also I felt like I've seen similar stories before. Also, the first part of the movie is very beautifully animated, and matching with it's autumn setting, it has a tranquil and nostalgic vibe that kind of reminds me a bit of Ghibli. This movie also has that small-scale wholesomeness that Bleach used to have before becoming full-on Shounen.
Overall, I always think fondly of it when someone brings it up.
Every mention of Senna still brings a tear to my eye. I would be so happy if in some way we could see her again. Like in a bleach game yet to be made or something. I loved this character so much.
I love this movie so much.
Been rewatching Bleach for the first time in *years* getting ready for the anime's return, when I get around to watching this movie again after so long it's gonna be an emotional experience.
YES👍 I absolutely agree with you
That scene at the end where he takes her to the grave stone, man... it always makes me tear up like a baby. God damn i felt for her and wanted give her a huge hug
I agree that this is a good movie, personally I think Fade to Black and Hell Verse are both better Bleach movies
really? I mean Hell Verse was super dope, but didnt have memorable moments besides Ichigo rampaging. Memories of Nobody has much more emotional weight and sticks out more imo.
Another solid video. Good stuff man, keep it up!
This will get buried but she makes a small cameo in the filler episode 204, during the diner scene; she can be seen behind ichigo (around the 7:50 mark) when the princess is ordering food!
Are you serious? Thank you for telling me. I love being able to find any and all scenes with filler type characters. I like to see the world of bleach more expansive.
I love how you mentioned the openings changing ♥
I have a habit of making characters in MMO's in honor of characters that I like and respect from various anime.
Senna is among the top ones.
This movie made me cry when I was a kid I had the ending on repeat
I remember when this movie came out. A lot of people thought Senna was a new character that was joining the main cast. Maybe even being a possible love interests for ichigo. But that all came to a sudden abrupt halt When the movie finally premiered. Only to be reignited for a moment when someone spotted a background character who had the same hairstyle as Senna.
The bleach movies really are beautiful
I really loved your analysis on this movie! can u make this a series and just review every bleach movie? Personally, the 3rd one is my favourite! Congrats, you gained a sub
BRO I remember watching this on some shady site back in 2007 when I was a teenager in middle school.
This movie was beautiful and I genuinely felt bad for Senna and Ichigo at the end of the movie.
Sen no Yoru Koete was such an amazing song. Still get chills when I start hearing that violin start playing.
Even though Movie 1 was a tad generic ,the lessons I took away from it still lingers. Really loved the bleach series. Wish they were given more time to end the series well, along with Katekyo Hitman Reborn.
Thanks for remind about this good character. And thanks for letting know about similarities between Sena and Ichika. But too bad that in every filler at the end shit happens...
I am new to bleach and so far I find that memories of nobody is my favorite. Its very good.
Outside of Pokemom and Digimon movies, this was one of my earliest anime movies and is still one of my personal favorites.
It's been over ten years for me since I first watched but I still remember this movie far better than the other ones. I also really enjoyed the slice of life and the workings of lore and Senna's character. I was more naive then but this movie resonated with me more than most other anime movies.
I also am still very fond of the Ichisen pairing
Senna.. whyyy😭😭😭 Arigato man for this great video.. brings back the feels😭❤️
Great video man! I really loved Sena back in the days. She was nearly a best girl. Anyways, looking forward to your Turn back the Pendulum vid!
the ending theme was perfect. Always hits you in the feels.
Great video I really enjoyed it, job well done m8
No joke, this movie was my introduction to Bleach, knew nothing going in and when I finished the movie I started the series.
I thought it was considered cannon now because in the thousand year blood war arc and the light novels mention the valley of screams but at the end of the movie everyone's memories of senna was taken when she died.
Soooo.... DiamondDust Rebellion?
All memories of Senna disappeared... but the memory of Ichigo buying her a ribbon is his memory alone. so yeah i take it as him remembering he bought it for someone important he risked his life for.
The first Bleach movie was great and showed to me again when rewatching why I liked Bleach. Bleach can be at times very Shounen. And sometimes it follows the structure even too much, but then when you think you know how the story will go, it takes a turn that doesn't just come out of nowhere. For example, I couldn't tell you exactly who the villains of the movie were. They were just the antagonists that had to be beaten. But even years later I remember the scene before the end credits when they are going to the cemetery and Senna asks if her name is written on the grave and it just isn't there. It doesn't come out of nowhere, it is hinted heavily throughout the movie, but for a Shounen you still expected it to have a happy ending. The implied ending that Senna is not only just a combination of memories, but because of that probably just disappears and no one will remember her is heart breaking (and it also fits the theme of Bleach with death very well). I know there is the post credit scene with a girl looking like Senna, but tbh I don't even want this to be her. Once, because it makes no sense (even if she was reincaranted she would have to grow for a while) and second, because it destroys this fantastic ending. I am not sure why they included that scene.
I was waiting for this, THANK YOU!
In the end, Ichigo feels something about the ribon and the girl running, what is leave to everyone personal interpretion.
English it's not my first language. Cheers from Brazil.
I remember watching this when it premiered on Adult Swim when I was like 10. Good times
This is my favorite bleach movie too. Thanks for the bleach content
I loved this movie and the song it's a song that you can't forget
I am always happy to see how the Bleach community can come together and appreciate on of the greatest anime of our collective childhoods or lives. Very little toxicity is a good sign that the audience Kubo and the various people who worked on bleach created a story that everyone could relate with. A story filled with characters we could all see ourselves getting along with and who we were all sad to see go when the anime and manga ended....Here's hoping for a revival.
I’m glad people still remember this great movie, I loved Senna she’s still one of my favorite characters
This and Hell Verse are my favorite Bleach movies, Memories of Nobody literally makes you cry at the end
Every time I see that last scene and ending song, makes me remember everything that happened to Senna and I almost cry each time 😪
Bleach Forever!!! GETSUGA TENSHO!!!!!!!!!!
Still my fav movie from this series too, I remember the ending leaving me with tears
Thanks for this, I will try and find this movie. As much as I love Bleach's stories, characters, and animation, much of the music is so compelling to me, including the selections you used here, that it is some of my favorite music -although I cannot separate it from the anime. They make each other. I know what you mean about characters being included in a story who don't do much besides show up, but I think it needs to happen anyway because it might feel unnatural or a distraction if they weren't there. Perhaps.
Can't wait for the Hell Verse video
Just came from watching this movie. It’s so good and the story is very well written, and for the best reasons it’s also short and sweet. I also consider this to be the best bleach movie. Senna was a great character and the way they used leaves in the movie along with the soundtrack has always stuck in my memory.
That ending impaled my heart
One thing I'll always love about these movies is that the animation is buttery smooth
I *loved* this movie! There was something... nostalgic about the atmosphere.
And of course, the end scene was far more sad than it should have been for me. It’s filler that was able to make me feel something; that’s not usually a thing with anime movies.
i remember crying throughout the tombstone scene. it just hits hard man. til now.
Memories of Nobody, still makes me cry no matter how many times I watched it, and why its still my favorite movie.
The movie made me cry a bit as a kid. The ending credit song is also fantastic
And when the ending song (Sen no Yoru wo Koete by Aqua Timez) started playing
It's been years, and I haven't forgotten Senna.
The waifu that will never be canon
Shes canon the valley of screams was mentioned by ichigo in the blood war and the movie villians in the cant fear your own world novels which are canon
@@logandelaharpe6317 she not canon, the valley if scream is canon but not the actual movie itself
Thank you for making this! The majority of the fans went nuts for fade to black, but this one always stood out to me the most and had the most emotional impact for me. It sounds silly but I felt like as a fan, if one were to be dropped into the bleach universe, you'd be her. On a more personal aspect, as someone with ptsd, the parts where she has those random flashbacks that paralyze and confuse her hit home. I was able to see a lot of myself in her character.
I'm glad it wasn't just nostalgia, cause I remember genuinely loving this movie.
good review
I like this movie!
I actually saw it dubbed in a theater with my cousin during it's limited theater showing here in U.S. Fun time!
Ngl I was surprised by the quality of the animation, but damn aqua timez is nice, with this I think there are at least 3 tracks included in the series/merchandise/thing
MON is the first Bleach movie I saw. Still remembered buying a DVD of this when I was a college student. It was a decent and entertaining movie
I like that this movie is the only one of the four that could conceivably fit into the series with only a little hand waving. The other three all take place in what is supposed to be a single uninterrupted chain of events.
I didn't like it growing up but after a recent re-watch it's definitely my favorite of the 4. It's such a good representation of the themes and arcs of the series
WARNING This movie will make a grown man cry there eyes out.
Thank you for this. I watch my movies more than I watch my shows.
I cried when I saw Senna slowly dissolved. When Rukia said no one would remember her; I was hit right the feels. I grew so attached to her character that I felt like she belonged with the other main characters in bleach. Although her time was short, she’s definitely one of my favorite female characters in anime. She actually reminds me of Zekken from sword art online ii. Short screen time, but still a very beloved character.
I bought the movie because I have always been a bleach fan. I mean, Hell Verse was okay but this movie overall was the best bleach movie from my opinion... and from this movie I managed to get a kick ass wallpaper of Senna wielding her zanpakuto.
This is my first favorite movie of the Bleach series. The 2nd was Hellverse. Anything that expanded the universe. The Blanks, Dark Clan, and the landscape of Hell was all awesome!
It's crazy cuz this the movie that made me start watching bleach and that shit ended up being my favorite anime. I liked it alot cus it kinda reminded me of kingdom hearts .
dang I remember coming home from school every day and checking dattebayo to see if the film released yet. I actually think all the bleach films were pretty good and had a way of fitting into the universe well enough to seem plausible events that could have happened
The first time I ever saw this movie was when it premiered on toonami, back then bleach what's the most popular show probably beating out Naruto and one piece on Cartoon Networkthe first time I watched it was pretty good maybe even want to see all the bleach movies it's not wrong to think that why a lot of people think that this is their favorite Bleach moviesalso if one of your next videos on bleach try doing each of the filler Arc to see which of them it is you see the best like for example if you think the bount Arc was pretty good or not.
Another great bleach video
I'd like to see you great down the raigai filler arc if possible. It has obvious parallels to memories of nobody but its also such a good bridge between the 2 canon arcs it falls between with Ichigo's struggle with his powers plus lets be real its got good fanservice in the form of its fights, all of which are well animated.
Some constructive criticism I might add would be seeing how yours style would work with examining sections of the stories as well sections rather than just a continuous summary. Like for this video for example breaking down the movie into its primary acts and after a brief summary of one go into your personal take away and deeper analyses, then move into the next act and so on till you deliver your final conclusion. I think it would help with the flow of the video, particularly for maintaining the interest of new viewers that might not have back ground on the video subject be it bleach or something else.
This movie was actually made canon it gets a mention in bleach brave souls version of light novel story of can’t fear your own world plus muramasa as well small mentions but
I miss Bleach's old character designs.
When ichigo tells Senna her name is on the gravestone gets me every time
