I like how ratboy introduces green monster by saying that he's in costume, then we see that he's still a green monster, just a different green monster. It's probably confusing for anyone who doesn't know what green monster usually looks like.

I just figured he updated the model and the costume was the Shrek clothes. To put it simply, no. I didn’t know what green monster looks like.

Is it just me, or are the characters animated with more facial movements than usual? Like, there's little eye movements and stuff. It's so cool to see Ryan's hard work and development as an animator.
Ratboy Genius is something special and has a genuine feeling to it, I always look forward to getting a look into their fun world and friendships
I am very happy, seeing the animation getting better and better is a plus. The small details are ALWAYS what get me smiling. Take your time, Ratboy!

I always love to notice little changes in the character's models. I had to do a double take when I realized Ratboy was moving his eyes. Impressive stuff!

I've watched your part in the first Shrek Retold multiple times, from the models to the physical humor to the scene layout it was so funny. The duloc song was sooo good, it was perfect. The improved animation is exciting, and the characters' signature innocence is wonderful as always! I also liked the callback to the initial episodes of Ratboy's Kingdom for this intro.
I will say that I'm unsettled with Ratboy's eyes in this video. Their bigger size makes him unintentionally intimidating. I guess the previous eyes being pushed in communicated how his character is harmless and easily approachable.
Also did anyone notice the brief motion blur on Green Monster at 4:57 as he was rising back up? It was really neat and I wonder how the rest of the series would look if it were that way.

I see it as reverse tbh; I think the bigger eyes make him look more innocent and more stylized, helping steer away from uncanny valley territory
they also might be easier to animate but idk enough about the cgi animation process to know for sure
also earlier when eyes became larger it was a sign of aggression, e.g Little King John in The Flood

3:25 Is possibly one of the only times you're ever going to see the results of someone who painstakingly animated the fingers of a pianist to the corresponding notes on the piano as they play. Believe me, I even tested it out on my own piano. Although I would like to see another example if someone knows of one.

One detail that I found neat and unexpected was how the movie clips fade out and Green Monster and Ratboy sit there looking to the corner just like in a real studio interview. Seeing everyone how they get along while working on projects is so cute and calming. Apparently the friends just like to play music during breaks.
